It looked like a perfect planet. Plans to make a colony ship started that day. But now that we’ve arrived, it’s clear that things are not as they first appeared. A seething, teeming purple biomass covers the surface, spewing forth malign alien entities that cruelly murdered the initial scouts. We aren’t sure if the scans were wrong or if Space Command was just lying to us, but this is not the paradise we were promised.
We’re sending you down to the surface as our last attempt before giving up and taking the Jaded and her colonists back to Homeworld. We’ve got little to offer you besides a glass bioshelter to keep the aliens out. We’re only willing to invest so much more into what will probably be a failed expedition. But if you’re resourceful and lucky, perhaps we can find a way to make this colony work after all.
Blightfall is a combination modpack and adventure map about surviving on an alien planet. It uses magic mods and tech mods to create a novel gameplay experience. Can you survive on a world completely covered by Thaumcraft taint?

Your calm but invested demeanor is SO refreshing. I've recently started watching Minecraft content from more creators, and while the mod packs they play are interesting, many of them are just way too ENTHUSIASTIC™. But then here you are, playing an interesting mod pack with some "early Etho" vibes, and I'm here for it.
@itsPajamas007

Thanks! I think a big part of why their content feels that was is because of the type of content they make, quick pace, lots of edits, it's meant to keep your attention. Let's Plays are more relaxed, and most people just throw them on and chill out with it playing while they do something else. I hope to see you stick around though!!

Shimmerleaf is used for crafting ethereal blooms, an early game way to expand your safe zone Well, early game...relatively speaking. You CAN find blooms in points of interest, but actually crafting your own could be....challenging, until youve got some decent infrastructure up and running. If you can SOMEHOW get white petals early, pure daisys technically work but the range is puny.

I actually started playing Blightfall again a couple of months ago. I'd already done all the domes except Omega, so that's where I started. Kinda fun, having an underwater complex. I think the pack's getting another update soon. Don't know when, just that bugs have been fixed on the github. When you get a bit further ahead, don't press the "sort by number of times eaten" button in the cooking table. It crashes your world. (fixed next update)

@@itsPajamas007 I might be misremembering, but I think there is also an unhandled exception if you eat certain food items from a lunch bag/box. It happens with anything(I think) that uses a wooden bowl to craft but doesn't consume the bowl when you eat it. The empty bowel gets returned to the lunch bag/box, presumably bypassing an isFoodItem() check that prevents you from adding non-food items in game. Eventually you unknowingly attempt to consume a wooden bowel in a function after where it checks the item class.

I love Blightfall! Tried it a year ago & got to midgame. Haven't had the time since. Be careful mining outside the dome, the silverwood tree will only protect the cylinder inside the dome. Also have a peek around & under your tree, a lot of them have secrets nearby. Pickaxes will place whatever block is to the left of them (or the furthest slot if the pick is in the first). That includes torches.

I started replaying the pack because of this, deciding to start in the tundra biome. One big help for overland transport is the fact that leaves are, as far as I can tell, immune to being tainted and can be easily acquired in bulk by making wooden shears. Combine this with the fact that very few enemies can reach you if you're building above the ground (only the swarms, from what I've seen so far), and you can build safely to reach other areas. Tunnels are another option, but make sure you wall off caves well enough if you go that route because it looks like taint can spread through corners. Really looking forward to seeing how our games differ from each other as a result of our starting locations, decisions, and RNG. By the way you're lucky your first oak tree dropped a sapling. You can get stuck without any more wood that you can use for tinkers if you don't get a sapling drop and get only natura saplings from the bags. My poor silverwood tree had to be cannibalized for fixing my tools before I got flint :(

@@coppertones7093 I did realize recently during an exploration trip, there is a way to make oak wood planks out of any type of wood, and that's to craft boats and crash them to recover the planks and sticks they drop in this version. @Samuel_Morchin
@Samuel_Morchin Ай бұрын
Part of the problem is that all the new cool mods are all on different launchers, so you have to learn how to boot up, mod, and use a whole new launcher whenever you want to acquaint yourself with a new modpack. That, combined with the fact that many modders that had been making mods for multiple versions of minecraft have burnt out trying to keep up with new versions after new versions, have filtered out much of the variety that we used to have.

DAYUMN, SON! That's what I call quality content. This deserves the utmost of views, especially if you consider the fact that Blightfall hasn't had a lot of content released for YEARS. Thank you so much for doing content! I'm really looking forward to watching future episodes of this amazing project. Here are a couple of additional tips you may or may not want to acknowledge: - SCOUT - The Engineer is a goofball who doesn't know anything about something. Under no circumstances listen to what they're telling you, it's mostly a waste of resources, since there is much superior stuff you can get from other mods - If you enter a mineshaft - congratulations. You found the Subway. From here on, you can literally get to any point of the continent, since the mineshaft system on this world is one of the most extensive underground structures I've ever seen in my life - Don't be afraid to use Reputation. You can in theory "lose" if you go below a certain rep threshold, however it's located around -100 Reputation, so if you don't drop too far below, you can always recover - How to recover rep, you may ask? Easy! Questbook! Also, the fact that this Modpack gets updated stems mostly from the shoulders of one absolute Gigachad called Midnight, who was the sole reason for the inception of the entire Update movement. If you check the TechnicLauncher, you can view the update logs and there has been a fairly long time with no updates at all, so if you ever happen to step by on the officially unofficial Blightfall Discord, don't be shy to say thanks to them! Also, if you ever encounter weird one-off bugs like... Redstone not working or mobs randomly not disappearing after you already killed them... Good luck. Restarting the game helps most of the time. But most importantly: HAVE FUN!
@HeruKane

If you put a made part like that quartz pickaxe head in as a material in the part builder you can turn it into another part. You can do this with any part that you can work by hand. Parts that need to be casted can be melted down to so this instead. Hint: if you find a box of tool parts somewhere you can use this to change otherwise useless parts into more useful parts. You may not need a slime pan head but you could perhaps use a slime tool rod. Some components have very little impact on the final tools parts like the pickaxe binding. You can instead make this part out of something that gives a bonus modifier for example Cobblestone gives the stonebound modifier that will make you mine faster the lower the durability of your tool. I don't know about the new version of blightfall since I haven't played it yet but in the original version it used a version of tinkers construct where replacing parts like this to get bonus modifiers did not consume modifier slots like it does in the later versions. Which I think is a stupid design that limits replacing parts on what is supposed to be modular tools.
@itsPajamas007
@itsPajamas007 Ай бұрын
As far as I'm aware, the recent changes to the modpack have been balancing changes, so I'm sure Tinker's is relatively the same. I really appreciate the advice though!!! Didn't know about some of the traits of certain material types :)

This reminds me of another modpack I really liked at the time, Regrowth, similar concept. Wish there was an updated version like it.
