I have found that the more fragrances I smell, the more sophisticated my sniffer has become. 😂 Fragrances I used to hate I now love bc I now can recognize notes and appreciate the scent for what it is. So now I just put bottles I dislike to the back of my collection and revisit it later. So I blind buy all the time bc most of the time I end up liking it lol

@@Cocteau84 look at us being fragrance connoisseurs SLAYYYYY 😂😂😂 I feel the same abt designer perfumes as well. Only issue with having a more sophisticated sniffer is the cost of niche/luxury fragrances. My wallet cries a little each time I buy a bottle. Thankfully most brands have sample sets but damn does it hurt when I fall in love with a $300 bottle of perfume 😮‍💨

I haven't smelled Choco Musk yet, but I have French Coffee by Al Rehab, and that one is stunning, I can't get nearly enough of it. It's like a fresh roasted coffee made with cream instead of milk, and there's a little bit of buttery sweet caramel there too. Its a little different to other coffee scents because the notes don't quite blend for me in the air, so sometimes I'll turn my head and get a whiff of pure just brewed coffee, and then five minutes later I get this super creamy, buttery, slightly sweet caramel. But on the skin it all comes together, and its soooo smooth, and lasts ages. Every time I put it on, I can't stop sniffing. When I first sprayed it (blind buy), my fifteen year old son was in the room, and his eyes just went WIDE as dinner plates. He immediately snatched the bottle from me and said 'give me that', and practically drowned himself in it. I think I'm either going to have to hide the bottle or get him his own. 😂

I only want to add that Arabic fragrances can often smell high quality & niche but in my experience sol de janeiro perfumes definitely smell low quality and cheap. I was around some young women recently who were wearing SDJ sprays and it was unbearable to be too close to them- especially the coconutty ones.

Yes to both Niche Blind Buys AND Transitional frags - would love to hear your thoughts on both. My SOTD is Castagna by Tuttotondo and I think it qualifies for the latter (and it’s also affordable 😉) This is a gourmand, no doubt; it’s nutty/creamy but it’s somewhat transparent too. Not dense or cloyingly heavy. I’m really enjoying it today in 100 degrees, 2nd day of Sept 🍁🔥

Love this list and I have and agree with many. But I had an idea for you! I recently had an experience with a fragrance that I own (blind bought) but never wore because the first spray on paper was very much not to my liking. I let her sit on my shelves for over a year without ever wearing it. Long story short, I sprayed her on my hand last night, and still hated it. Until… about 20 minutes later. The dry down was SO INTOXICATING that I’m now obsessed. All that to say that a fun video to see would be one about “first spray offenders” 😂. Ones that should be given a second chance. If you really like the L’Aventure Rose but crave that scent with a bit more intensity, try Sun Java Rose Oud by Franck Olivier. A bit sweeter, jammier, smokier, and the projection and longevity is amazing. Same DNA but more so. Love them both, but the L’Aventure Rose is a toddler compared to Sun Java Rose Oud
