I feel like this a good place to bring it up again, but i don't understand the Spike hate. I love Spike more than most do. It's probably because i can relate to him really badly. I get misunderstood and mess things up all the time as well. I also get unsure about most things as he does. I hear some say that they don't understand why Twi supports him so much in this episode. I'm pretty sure it's because she doesn't feel right seeing Spike in so much pressure. She loves him a lot, which i get instantly. I like this episode a lot :)

Only the map calling him made the problem worse. Going around looking for them problem caused him to neglect Thorax and Ember even more then he was. Good going friendship map. One of the Mane 6 or Starlight would have been a better idea.

The map is a bit of a teacher as well? Or, as he was the focus of the problem, and he *do have a seat* next to the map, and the map sense both competence an character, so it knew he'd most likely either solve it, or cause it to get solved. It also is possible that the map is kind of evolving. Also: * more _than_ he was

Well, in the end escalating the situation even further is what helped resolve the problem. As for one of the Mane 6/7 helping: Twilight and Mini-Twilight were helping Spike in avoiding Thorax and Ember, so they probably wouldn't have noticed the problem, I guess. And the rest of the characters, well, the episode was pretty busy already, the writers most likely didn't want to detract even more time from Spike. Not saying the map's choice was necessarily the best, but I can kinda see why they decided to do things that way...

I really enjoyed this episode, one of the most interesting stories for S7. Judging by the title at first glance, I thought that Ember was gonna bring a couple of dragons with her. Anyway, there's been some great interactions between the characters here, mainly Ember and Thorax. I actually hoped that the two of them would meet at some point and I'm glad they did. So...apparently Spike of all random characters has been called by the map. I find that strange since he's not a pony with a cutie mark no less. Interesting but, strange. I'm still hoping that the CMC will be called on a map adventure one day though. Cool commentary, man.

Spike was unsurprising, considering the castle supplied him with a throne as well. Starlight was unsurprising because she has magicly messed with the map before and fixed it as well, so her magic might have gotten mixed up in it. I would hold judgement until it calls someone with no connection to the map. In the end though, that wouldn't make any sense either, because unlike the Mane 6 (Elements of Harmony), Starlight (Student/advisor ), and Spike (assistant) no pony else is really obligated to go because it is not there responsibly. And you can't force them to go. Every pony else have their own lives to live. And they are not just going to drop everything because the map says they should. It's not their problem. What do they care if some random stranger was having a friendship problem in Las Pegasus or Manehatten? Heck, it's the Mane 6's responsibility, yet one or two of them have tried to talk their way out of doing it. (I'm looking at you, Rainbow Dash. :) :) Miss ' Hey, you can totally take my place if you want. I still have half a nap to finish. ' :) :)

I was surprised, both at Starlight and now Spike, but I also agree that their connections to the map is obvious. I sincerely can see the possibility that the map is evolving, and getting ready to call other ponies as well. ....And i'd say CMC is indeed likely candidates for their connection to 3 of the Mane 6, as well as the concept of CMC itself. Damn auto correct. Sometimes it screws with my writing. Also the CMC wouldn't make sense either. It would be Damn irresponsible for the map to send three little fillies who are still in school somewhere far off. And if they can't get their families permission. They might trust the CMC more, but I am sure they wouldn't send them scampering off to who knows where, no matter what the map says. Especially someone like Sweetie Belle, who's parents might rightly forbid it from happening. Though it might seem like it, Rarity is not Sweetie Belle's legal guardian. We sometimes forget that, because we don't see them often. Or maybe I think too much about this. :) Sweetie Belle: But mom, the map says I have to go to 'insert random location'. Sweetie Belle Mom: And if this map told you to jump off a cliff, would you? I said no. :) :) :)

titan hades, I would not like other ponies to be called either. However in the future it would be kind of interesting if other ponies just tag along the mission (like if Starlight has a mission dealing with some fillies and cutie marks nearby the CMC volunteer to help). And I think would accept Luna and Celestia being called since they used to be the ones connected to the elements.

Remember, Twilight has that whole thing of strictly ' only sending the specific ponies that were called'. Why do you think she never went with Starlight to see Celestia and Luna? Or with Rainbow and Pinkie to see the Griffins? She always went into that tangent that if the map wanted someone there, the map would have called them. That is why I can't honestly see the CMC being sent anywhere. Cause it would go against Twilight's character. And no matter what, it would be Damn irresponsible for three little fillies to be sent off by themselves to some strange place. So no tag alongs.

Alright I'm caught up, here goes short sentence thoughts on every episode! Sorry for waaay long comment in advance ;) “A Flurry of Emotions” - Overall was pleasantly surprised, was expecting the episode to be an avalanche of stupid events brought on by Flurry that then would be excused in the end because she's a baby, but I generally enjoyed it quite a bit. “Rock Solid Friendship” - Pinkie did get a bit much in this episode, but I can honestly relate to the mindset of wanting to impress somebody so bad that you become unreasonable in your approach. Other than that Maud is still amazing, and overall it was good fun. “Fluttershy Leans In” - Quite disappointed by this one. Not that it wasn't an alright idea for an episode, just that the execution feels bland, and the conflict forced (why did she need the experts help in the first place when it at the end was so easy for her to make it EXACTLY like she wanted it to be?). “Forever Filly” - Really didn't enjoy this one, though it might've just been because I guessed the whole plot/moral from simply reading the title, which makes the following 20 minutes of hyperbolic comedy come off as obnoxious. “Parental Glideance” - I like Dash’s parents and I appreciate how the episode helped explain how Dash came to be who she is today, but the moral felt very confused, at one second having the parents point out that they were being too much, yet still having them and Dash acting the same way with Scootaloo at the end. “Hard to Say Anything” - While the spy joke was a little annoying and sadly ran throughout the episode, the rest of it I really enjoyed, always happy to see more of Our Town, and honestly I have such a soft spot for Big Mac, he's just the best. Also really enjoyed Feather Bangs for some reason. “Honest Apple” - *Skipped this one because it was late and I was marathoning, I'll go back and watch it eventually … alongside the handful of other episodes I've skipped over the years and never gone back to actually watch … oops?* “A Royal Problem” - Everybody was just so damn adorable this episode! While, yes, Daybreaker is quite a wonderful new edgy horse for the collection, the moments between the royal sisters was what really made it for me. “Not Asking for Trouble” - The Yaks aren't funny or entertaining, and there is, when you boil it down, basically only 1 joke to be made with them, but this joke is then told in 40 different ways to get the point across. That being said I really liked the moral, that sometimes people will simply be too proud to ask for/accept your help, even though they themselves know that they could use it. It's one I really relate to. “Discordant Harmony” - Fluttercord brings out the best in both characters, they were both adorable this episode. Also, Fluttershy going “is this doing anything for you?” just broke me. “The Perfect Pear” - Big Mac: “Erm, would it be okay if we stopped by again sometime, to hear more stories?” Me: *cries for 10 minutes over precious Peter New Applehorse* “Fame and Misfortune” - Just great, the fandom representation caught me off guard and was just beautifully executed, but I also like that the episode works as more than just pandering. “Triple Threat” - Because just going the Applehorse route and being like “yo sorry Steve, I totally forgot about our meeting, but you'd be more than welcome to tag along while I show Ember around, then maybe we can find the time to talk later” is definitely harder than forcing your own conflicts. Pretty meh, but I always like Thorax. Overall I'm having quite a good time with this season, some ups and down but overall enjoyable. P.S. From this point onward I will attempt to keep up to date, and you can expect some lengthier rants about the episodes in your comments on future reactions, if I judge the episode worthy of it anyway.

While I wanted to facepalm a couple of times too, to be completely fair to Spike though, neither Twilight nor Starlight realized what the problem was either. They were adding onto the problem by confirming Spike's fears that Ember and Thorax would probably not like each other, and that trying to keep them apart would be a good idea. If not even them (especially Twi) saw what the friendship problem was, then blaming Spike for being an idiot isn't fair. Twilight and Starlight would be idiots as well. Also, this episode showed something every interesting about Spike's character, since he was doing basically the same thing Twilight did back in this season's 1st episode (Celestial Advice), which shows Spike being a worrywart is the result of his upbringing by Twilight. This makes sense. He was raised by her, so its only natural that he acted like she does in that situation.

I was initially not sure how to feel about this episode, but I'd say I really like this episode. Yeah it has the whole Spike being an idiot thing that can annoy me in older episodes, but here I'm not really bothered by it, mostly bc Spike isn't really being selfish and he had a good reason to think Thorax and Ember wouldn't get along well. Also had a lot of great jokes (what's not to love about that Lyra and Bonbon fight? XD) and Thorax was pretty adorable here, though I'm still not that used to his design. Overall a great episode. :)

This was a weird episode just because I didn't know how to feel about it. I did enjoy it, but I just felt kind of weird about it. However the ending made up for it big time, it was a great ending. And I do like that Spike is becoming more and more mature, although I'm still surprised that Spike was called by the map; that really surprised me. (Still hoping for the CMC's to get called). Also I loved that Ember made the joke about Starlight and Twilight seeming similiar, I thought it was hilarious. And Starlight was great in this episode, I loved her little comments that she did; so funny. Spike gets better and better with each episode/lesson he learns. Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.

Personally I think we got something we've been waiting for without actually knowing it. I mean, in the opener of Season Five, it was proven that Spike needed to be seated on his chair along with the Mane Six for the Table to have its first appearance. So that Spike finally gets proven that he is part of what created the Table in the first place? Yeah, I liked seeing that. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw his hologram appear above the table.

Yeah I agree with you, but in this case it almost feels like it doesn't work. Spike has a seat by the map and is therefor important. But the way he was called on in this episode seems self defeating since he both caused the problem and, worse off, caused it in the very vicinity of the map itself. Who else was the map supposed to call. Lets say it was Derpy, who somehow caused the FP with Lyra and Bon Bon and they were visiting the castle. it'd seem hypocritical of the map to call on anyone else to fix it. When you think about it like that it seems like Spike being called is no big deal.

I think if there had been a backstory added that there used to be a war or some other conflict between the dragons and the changelings it would bacically fix all the episodes issues since it would be natural to be worried them interacting without planning it. And it would have been great worldbuilding. Nevertheless I really liked the episode despite usually not liking these kinds of plots. I guess the characters were just entertaining and it's in Spike (and Twilight and Starlights) characters to act this way.

I think, the map realized, that spike wouldnt get things right, and kinda sorta scrape by, without ember and thorax meeting, but without helping anyone. So it decided to make things even harder for spike, to ensure he DOES blow it, so ember and thorax can have their friendship moment. It wouldnt be the first time, the map sends someone to fail, remember when it sent rainbow to griffinstone, so she could fall down a hole, so gilda had to save her?

This is right. It's not the first time someone called by the map totally botched the first attempt at fixing the problem before they got it right.

Yup, also in season 5, it purposely held out on twilight with her map mission, despite the fact, that the hooffields and mccolts were at it for generations. It made Twi feel left out on purpose, and make her jealeous, till Discord "randomly" decided to teach her, that even princesses can have flaws, THEN it gave her the mission as a reward. Twilight often had the mindset, that as celestias star-student and now princess, she had to succeed (crystal empire, rainbow rocks etc). If she had had that mindset during the season 5 finale, she might have kept trying to defeat Starlight, instead of trying to reason with her.

It's funny you mention that the 'logic switch' thing was in Twilight's position, but she didn't exactly give Spike much in terms of advice or a solution. She seemed to have similar worries, though not as extreme.

Twilight does say at one point "I'm sure that won't happen. Now pull it together" after Spike's intense bit of imagination, and Starlight suggests once that they might like each other. I am glad this solution wasn't beaten over his head throughout the entire episode though.
