About leaks - it should be pretty clear at this point I don't acknowledge them. I will react to the episodes after they officially air. I do plan to react to the movie as well, but not until after the official home release. Also, since a lot of people are questioning what I said about what Iron Will did being a con, let me say I still think it qualifies. It doesn't matter if it was explained in the fine print. Fine print in and of itself on a contract can be used as a tool to knowingly deceive. The fact that the intentions were being obscured (the parents were made to believe they were chosen at random for a contest, but considering the circumstances, they were deliberately selected) makes it clear Iron Will was aiming to trick them. The fine print might protect him legally, but in knowingly hiding relevant information there, where few will bother to read, he is still conning them.

I thought the episode was solid, but i fully agree on that it isn't really Iron Will's style. The FlimFlams would have been better, but i guess they have settled down well in Gladmane's business-areas, so they are less interested in small cons now.

Then, by that logic, even coupons are out to con people. Fine print is everywhere in real life, but we don't consider that as any part of a con. Also, Twilight's parents hardly read anything about their contract, so it's possible that they thought it was from a contest, when it clearly stated what its true purpose was. Although it's still possible that it is a con, although I'd like to think that Iron Will didn't actually mean to con anyone. He's just a little inadequate at running businesses.

Honestly for me this episode's message was pretty Powerful in my opinion. The story's message was going for when pleasing somepony you can't always please yourself and Twilight realized she needed to do something for herself for a change. In my past experiences I've had that problem where I wanted to please everybody, but just couldn't please myself at the same time. I really like this episode, Twilight having a melt down gave me those feels, God this season is doing so good!

I loved how real the lesson was, so good. And I was shocked to see Iron Will again, never would have thought we'd see him again, although I shouldn't have been so surprised, MLP likes to bring characters back previous episodes after all. And Spike was so great! The fact that he was willing to stay behind to let Twilight be with her family on the cruise was just so amazing to see from him, Twilight needs to pay him back in some way, maybe some nice gems or something for him. Overall a good episode, great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.

Flim and Flam weren't really scam artists on their first episode, either. They had a cider machine that did exactly as they said it would. They were pushy and manipulative, but I don't recall them doing anything really wrong.

Iron Will didn't trick anybody. Everything was clearly outlined on the contracts he gave to Twilight's parents and all the paying passengers. It was all of their faults that they didn't fully read the contract they signed. Hey, that's another lesson we can take from this! All those user agreements, privacy policies, and other things you have to sign in real life can have conditions you might not agree to, so be sure to read it all! Even if it takes hours and your brain starts to leak out of your ears...

No, I think Iron Will is the one who make this fault to Twilight and her family. He used the pony to pay the ride and let them see the princesses while he is swimming in a pool filled with money.He used the other pony to make money himself.

In the end, what twilights parents signed could also be seen as an employment contract, the princesses of the family help entertain the passengers, and their payment is a free vacation. It was of course unethical, but if anything, it was lawful evil at worst

Iron Will didn't con anyone. Everything was spelled out in the paperwork. It's not his fault no one read it. Many vacation things have something similar (in regards to not guaranteeing princess participation). The message is that Twilight may be a princess and must do stuff in regards to that, but also is entitled to take time for herself. As for 'bad' parts of fame, it was overwhelming and awkward, sure, but not bad. They all genuinely were respectful to her (as much as the public tends to be, anyhow).

silverSTONE 98 the super speedy cider Squeezey 6000 wasn't a con, it was an actual, functional contraption they created. They weren't conmen, they were engineers, entrepreneurs. They weren't evil, they were business competitors that just so happened to not be the main characters and so were destined to lose, despite providing a service that surpassed the Apple Family's average production rate while maintaining quality. But the show couldn't allow its heroine to be in a moral grey, so they brought them back as dishonest conmen to retroactively prove that AJ was right to run them out of town in their initial appearance, which I always felt was a massive disservice to them

I did find this was aimed at the parents in the audience. Knowing when to take time from work for family. (Go Spike) Knowing you can't please all the people all the time. (Go Cadence) It did play against Twilight's personality to be the best Princess of Friendship she could possibly be. Startracker reminds me of a BronyCon fan interacting with one of the voice actresses. I'm sure Tara Strong has had those moments. As for Iron Will, I'm okay with him in this role. The Flim Flam brothers are better known to cave when the chips are down, while Iron Will is in it for the long haul. Seeing the family together did make for a good show.

Fluttershy and Iron Will was written in the Friendship Journal, and Twilight would have read that many times before she published it.

I think you were definitely being too harsh on the episode. Maybe it's because I don't watch episodes all at once (but instead I take numerous pauses during the scenes to process what has happened), but I found it to be a pretty good episode. I do agree that it is a bit questionable to use Iron Will as the antagonist, but it does make sense in retrospect. The episode was about not letting obligations (perceived or real) push you around to an unhealthy degree; and Iron Will was all about getting your way by pushing around others. And unlike the Flim Flam brothers, there were no deceptions involved; Everything he did was legal and he did fulfill everything he promised just like in his premiere episode (except this time there are no refunds for unsatisfied customers). Beyond the conflict, it gave Twilight's parents much needed characterization... in that they are actually characters now, instead of props. On top of that, it gave Twilight more interactions with her family, which has sorely been lacking as well. In both regards, they were both entertaining and occasionally heartwarming. Even showing her parents' treat Star Tracker, a complete stranger, so kindly and openly despite the unusual situation was a nice touch to further show how they're good people. I do think the episode was lacking in humor (or at least, my kind of humor) and it doesn't hold up as well as the other episodes of this season, but that is mostly because it has really rough competition considering how strong this season has been overall. However, I do think it is a pretty good episode and one that was very much needed, as Twilight's relationship and interactions with her family are dreadfully few and far inbetween compared to the rest of the Mane Six. This does only leave Rarity's parents next to be put in the spotlight, though I would consider it not as much of a necessity as this episode, since Rarity gets a lot of "family interaction" with Sweetie Belle already.

The Lession in this Episode is one of the stronger lession this show has tackled. Also, as an Person that want to make friends happy even at the cost of myself getting hurt in the end, I can relate to Twilight's decision to wanting to take it all on herself, As she said.. ''I just want everypony to be Happy'' That is very nice of her and relateable for me. because I am like that too, And I can even understand her outburst.. Yes, she did put herself up for all this. But You must remember that she was feeling stressed out in the begining of the episode too, then she thinks she can relax with her Family only to have that taken away from her also by the fact that she did not want to disappoint all that had paid money to meet her and cadance, So she took it on herself to make sure her family was able to relax and have fun.. while she took on even more stress for their happiness.. She also said that as long as she could see that star fall that was going to happen she would be happy.. Then having that one thing taken away from her. knowing all of that makes her outburst fully believeable to me. And Again.. that lession, is something that not many series tackle and in my opining is very strong one.

I do not think Iron Will tricked anypony here on purpose. Offering someone famous a free cruise in exchange for themselves being the theme of the cruise is a perfectly logical thing to do. I can imagine a number of ponies who would accept such an offer. Not Twilight, of course ... but Iron Will didn't know that.

Twilight out right stating Spike is apart of her family, Iron Will returning, and characterization for Twilight's parents. I think this episode is going in my top 10 for this season. Only problem I had was Star Catcher. I think he is a worse person to ship with Twilight than Flash Sentry and Timber combined. Also, I know this is something that I should have brought up in an earlier episode, but Trixie and Maud need to be in the intro next season. Lastly, while Pear Butter and Windy Whistles are great, I think Twilight Velvet is best Mane 6 mom. I think she and Windy would get along great.

I think Star Catcher was sort of a cipher for all Twilight's "subjects" so the affection she shows him is the affection she feels for all her people. Shipping fuel was probably the last thing on the writer's mind. But forget that! How awesome would an all parents episode be? That's a Season 11 idea right there. Free for the taking.

Sorry, forgot it was Star Tracker. And let's be honest, unless it is a romance episode shipping fuel is always the last thing on the writer's mind. The people in this community just take any interaction between two characters and makes it about shipping. It doesn't matter if Star Tracker is a cipher for all Twilight's subjects, people are still going to ship them no matter what.

RarityDash You better buy the Mlp movie on bluray combo pack with the 4K copy. The 4K copy is completely useless if you don't have a 4K Tv but at least you'll be spending more money on this film.
