A very cute episode with some really cool ideas, following up on some things from the very first episode I never thought we'd follow up on.

Wow, I just noticed that counting Lyra, Twilight and her group of Canterlot friends are all recolor pairs. Twilight/Moondancer, Twinkleshine/LemonHearts and Minuette/Lyra. I'm guessing what brought them together was their similar tastes in manestyles. lol!

Zeb Reacts​ the fact people found her in this episode so fast impressed me. I have no doubt they whould of found her by now. Maybe it's the thing where writers don't put the villain in the backround but when there doing there back story flashback somehow you see they have been following them everywhere. Haha! Gusta Gaming Already noted. Fans will still call her Colgate, even though, officially, it's always been Minuette even before this episode. Just look at Derpy and Doctor Whooves. We still call them that, and so do the people in charge of the show, but their "official" names will always be something different.

For me, this episode was the best. I knew at some point that twilight needed to remember her old friends from Canterlot. Slice of life was a great episode, but that's because it was written for fanservice. This episode on the other hand stays true to the show title. What hit me so hard in the feels was seeing moondancer feel like she was forgotten by her best friend. It just goes to show that we must never leave our old friends behind. This episode is going down in one of my all-time favorites :)

I really enjoyed this episode, especially moon dancer's role, her break down scene, how she treated situations involving friendship, and how her first party really ment something and how twilight not being ther really lowered her self esteem. Most introverts and people with out social skills can really relate to her. I'm looking forward for more actual real life friendship psychology featured in the new episodes.

One of the best episodes of the show imo. It actually takes itself seriously and understands the need to be genuine in its intentions. Twilight realizes she essentially left a whole group of friends without a second thought, and comes to learn the consequences of her actions created a long lasting effect on Moondancer's life. She's actually a pretty sad character when you dive into it. She was already introverted, to herself, not really a "friend" type before she met Twilight. And judging by what Colgate told Twilight, the party she threw was her first ever attempt to open up to people and believe she was worthy of actually having friends. Moondancer said it herself: "Those 3 finally convinced me that I had value and was worth befriending." It's really tragic in hindsight, because that implies she's always considered herself unworthy of love. And then when she tried to allow herself to _be_ loved, the one person she wanted to share it with most couldn't even be bothered to attend her party. And after that, she never even _saw_ Twilight for YEARS. She probably felt so abandoned and unwanted, and may have even been going through a major depression because her house looked like a complete mess. She was literally neglecting her health day-by-day because she lost trust in people and considered herself worthless of any friendships after Twilight left her. Not to mention she knew Twilight was a princess, so she likely knew about the mane 6, which only rubbed salt into the wound because Twilight left her and the rest of their Canterlot friends alone without even saying goodbye. All this time, through out the entire series until this episode, Moondancer has been living alone, neglected, and depressed while Twilight got to become a princess and adored by so many more people. It's really messed up, all things considered. If this show were rated higher, it could very well have leaned into Moondancer being s*icidal, because she was literally just completely alone and devoid of happiness or self-care.

first of all, great reaction and commentary =) i actualy liked MoonDancer design, with the red mane, and i found super cute how she keeps puting her glasses back into place ^^ also, spike chat at the background, and drinking punch at the party, were great visual gags for the fandon :D

This could potentially be my favorite episode of the show but I don't know for sure yet. It's definitely my favorite one of the season so far. Moondancer's breakdown scene always brings tears to my eyes and I can't help but get overwhelmed with emotions every time she opens the old present and sees the picture. I really love the detail they put into that moment filling her eyes with tears and dropping her ears back. Something about those details really sold that scene for me. Overall, I love Moondancer's character as a whole because the feelings she has toward friendship are definitely something that I can relate to in real life. For some reason when I first saw this episode, I thought that Moondancer was gonna become a recurring antagonist to Twilight over the pain that she caused her in the past. The fact that her appearance is basically a re-color of Twilight said that she could potentially be this evil alter ego for Twilight but I'm even more happy with the actual outcome of this episode. Moondancer is a wonderful and very likable character and I sincerely hope we see her in another episode in the near future. On a side note, this episode also had me conflicted as to whether my favorite background pony is Derpy or Minuette because this episode made me fall in love with Minuette! I admire her positive, upbeat attitude :D

I like how among the six ponies in Twilight's old circle of friends, two of them have each the same mane style. Maybe they did that back in school to show how close they used to be to each other. Moondancer and Twilight are obviously very similar, Lemon Heart and Twinkleshine are often seen together in this episode, and I can imagine Minuette and Lyra getting along great, sort of how Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash do.

EP 12 I love this episode largely because of the continuity and great characters. I love that Spike and the show brought up that Twilight Sparkle used to barely have friends before the show started. When Twilight Sparkle said start at the beginning it is awesome that it is literaly at the beginning the first episode. I was like awesome Colgate and Lyra even if they couldn't use Minuette’s fan name. I don't know why Spike is surprised Twilight Sparkle stayed up all night to find information. I fucking love Minuette’s personality it’s adorable. I love that Larson found a way to make a plausible explanation for why these 3 and Lyra are everywhere. I love the epic burn against Twilight Sparkle that she always blew people off before the show. I love the flashback because we get to see filly Twilight Sparkle who is adorable and I see Tara Strong’s Bubbles voice is coming out. I love that Moondancer is a palette swap of Twilight Sparkle and WTF was with Lemonhearts in the beaker. I started to get worried when I saw Moondancer’s house especially the interior and what she looked like. I love the comparison between Twilight Sparkle and Moondancer in that she is Twilight Sparkle if she never made friends. I love the “disguises” Twilight Sparkle and Minuette wore and that Spike doesn't even bother. Also as Twilight Sparkle can see a life without friends would've been very lonely. I love Twilight Sparkle’s attempts to interact with Moondancer. Also Twilight Sparkle should've know appearing in her book would make her look crazy. I love that because they are both so smart Twilight Sparkle and Moondancer get along. When I heard that Twilight Sparkle left behind a gift from Moondancer I wanted to facepalm. I love that Twilight Sparkle gave Moondancer her old home and that she is trying to teach someone about friendship like Celestia before the show started. I also love that Twilight Sparkle had to resort to using bribery on Moondancer. I like how awkward the dinner is. Also I did not see this the first time watching but holy shit Starlight Glimmer is in the background. I do not think this is some throwaway thing by the animators so my theory is that she has been stalking Twilight Sparkle to find out weaknesses and possibly ponies to corrupt. Although I do think Twilight Sparkle should've gotten wanted posters made of that crazy bitch. I think the flashback of the party was for the audience and how Twilight Sparkle thinks the party went. I love that Twilight Sparkle brought Pinkie Pie as her secret weapon and that Pinkie Pie knows Minuette. I also love that Pinkie Pie and Minutte seem like a great team. I love that they got Moondancer to the party with a trail of books. The speech Moondancer gives is heartbreaking for her and Twilight Sparkle. For Moondancer because she seemed like she had a very low opinion of herself and for Twilight Sparkle because she didn't mean to cause so much pain she just didn't understand friendship. I love how they all brought Moondancer out of her depression. I love the photo Spike gives to Moondancer at the end. I like the theory that Moondancer was so upset Twilight Sparkle didn't come to her party and left without saying goodbye was because she had a crush on her. Also that the streak in her hair like Twilight Sparkle isn't natural and she dyed it for her and kept dyeing it because it was her last spark of hope.

That would explain why she didn't get any lines in the 100th episode. Her time was coming. 3. 5:20 "This is going to make sure Colgate fans pretty happy, I guess." Especially a certain reactor who named his channel Colgate MLP. 4. 5:45 This close up view of Colgate/Minuette's face reminds me of her Colgate-licious video. 5. 6:36 Minuette: "(Lyra) lives in Ponyville, too. We're all always over there visiting her, or, she's coming over here!" The perfect cover story for seeing all of the background ponies in both places. 6. 8:18 "Oh, this is magic kindergarten?" I sure hope not! I wouldn't trust foals that young with science lab equipment. 7. 10:48 It feels kind of funny watching this scene without the credits laid over the top of it. 8. 10:53 Twinkle Shine: "You wanna come?" Did that count as the first innuendo of the series? 9. 13:08 "And there's Fancy Pants and Fleur." That just shot my theory about Fleur being a one-time escort out of the water. 10. 18:06 Pinkie: "And you call yourself the Princess of Friendship!" Funny that she should say that the episode right after I was seeing several people commenting that Pinkie Pie would have made a better choice for that position. 11. 22:00 "Pin the tail on Celestia?" Discord will be pleased to hear that his idea took off. 12. I don't think that Larson did the same kind of research for this episode as he did for the 100th because this time all of the ponies' official names were used. I think it was really neat how Larson took what was originally a throwaway scene (whose only purpose was to establish Twilight's character) from the first episode and created a whole story idea from it.

Both are from the same episode, but they seemed to suit the ethos of this one pretty well. 1: It was kind of joking, but more it was where my mind went immediately at the mention of Twi's old friends. Spike had a gift prepared for her and everything in the pilot. :D 3: Ah, yeah. I'm sure he'll be particularly thrilled. 5: Yep. Clever of the writers to actually excuse background pony related plot holes like that. :D 6: Yeah, I was wrong. A little older than kindergarten age there. spike is really stepping up now. Spike was the one that allowed Twilight to defeated nightmare moon. if spike didn't point out pinkie there would have been no party. the book wouldn't have been found and nightmare moon wins. with everything in MLPFIM it is the most unexpected character that gets the ball rolling. Flutter is the one that cause Dash to the sonic rainboom which got the mane 6 cutie marks that made celestia noticed and it all ends with spike convincing twilight to make some friends.

The first time I hear of this episode and it's synopsis, I kinda just shrugged it off like "Whatever", but it turned out to be really unexpectedly good.

I think I know why Moondancer looked exactly like twilight just colored. I'm guessing she was a big fan of twilight, or she being her best friend, as she only wanted twilight to her party, otherwise she wouldn't have left when they arrived but she did. I'm guessing she had the idea of looking exactly like her because twilight knew more then her. But when twilight didn't meet to the party, she lost her hope and stopped fixing her hair. Twilight and Moondancer are exactly the same, just with different colors. they both like books and magic. But they did change when twilight left and became a princess, but when they where together, they where alike.

I think maybe moondancer look up to twilight a lot maybe that's why she has twilight's mane style and even more why she is hurt when twilight doesn't show up at her party maybe it was birthday party perhaps but yeah I enjoy this episode a lot :3

At first, I thought this episode was going to be a nod to Carrie with Twilight's disrespected friends pretending to befriend her only to dump a bucket of pony blood on her during some massive public event, but I guess that's a tad bit too graphic for this "children's show" though I thought Minuette was absolutely adorable and, despite the fact that Lyra got snubbed, I would rank this episode near the top of season five thus far.
