You now what? As a Czech I can say this document is superb. Even most of the czech documents do not mention the connection between his nickname (Zizka) and his injury as it is quite recent finding (few years) of an expert czech scholar. This video is really informative and well backed with facts. Thanks for that :)

Truly excellent documentary, however it does repeat one old-and many times disproved-misconception. Sigismund did NOT betray Jan Hus. He only guaranteed his safety during his way TO the council, nothing more. Hid did not and COULD NOT offer him any guarantee from the council itself, it would be beyond his authority, and Hus knew that. Not even an emperor could rule over the council. Hus made a mistake believing he would be given an opportunity to defend himself theologically in front of the council whilst he was only expected to denounce and abandon his-in the view of council's fathers-erroneous and heretical ideas. No one was interested to listen to this unimportant man's theological arguments, when they had so much more important topics to discuss, such as multi-papacy &c. He refused to do that and was consequently sentenced to death as many other heretics or “heretics” brought before the council. Little did the council fathers knew what the execution of this one (of many) “heretic” would cause in the near future.

Luke 3:14 _actually_ says: Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?” He replied, “Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely-be content with your pay.” John the Baptist did NOT tell the soldiers to do no violence.

In King James' day, they did not know how to translate "extort." They _WRONGLY_ thought it was a general warning against violence. Modern translations have got it right.

Similarly, the KJV is wrong in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20) when they have it saying, "Thou shall not kill." God actually said not to _murder._ If God forbade killing, why did he send Israel into wars? Why did God command capital punishments for some crimes?

@user-bm4mn9vd7e I would digress. The Hussite, especially the Radical Taborites, believed in Sola Scriptura & Salvation by Faith alone & Salvation can never be lost. No good works, which was contrary to most Protestants of the day that believed also in faith alone but your Salvation could be lost. True, the Hussites protested against the Catholic injustices, though they had priests & such, they were more akin to the Anabaptists since even later Hussite believers were also persecuted by other Protestants. Kinda like the Paulicians & the Waldenses

No one needs a religion to know what is right. In his time he had to choose because of the culture of the times. Let's not pretend we live in a better world but be thankful we han the ability to learn about the past and see what is happening today with out judgment but with clear understanding that all religions devide, confuse and spread fear of the other. We can respect our different opinions about today but cannot deny the facts of history. If these cultures had the ability to white each other out they would have. And if today we let religion determine our correct path to the future then one or the other will wipe us all out. Give us all a chance to be the best humans we can be and let the god of money be more responsible to the have nots and maybe just maybe we will all have a history to debate.

Why the kings and lord's didn't get cannon and such is beyond me.
@crispytendies1433 Жыл бұрын
I think it’s quite simple, you have a weapon - heavily armed and trained mounted knights who won battles quickly and thus were cost and time efficient. Also, cannons are better used as a defensive weapon rather than an attacking one. A better question would be why they used to same tactics over and over and lost every time 😂

The use of cannons was a military innovation in Europe at the time - it wasn't a common thing. The Hussites were one of the first to massively use artillery and smaller firearms in Europe in combination with war wagons. On the other hand, the nobility, lords and chivalry at the time didn't consider the long-ranged combat to be fair and they preferred traditional knightly combat on horseback, man against man. Even English bowmen were considered inferior and dishonorable soldiers in England at the time.

You need religion as faith, not as church institution. In other way content of the faith not the form is important. That is mostly Bohermian/Czech atheistic/agnostic nature, general skepticism over institutions, we like our way, other can gladly keep their one, just don’t try to force/push us to yours, we might accept of it what we see it’s right. If you force it on us we will resist you and believe me we will prevail at the end. The national motto on the state standard flying on flag over the Prague Castle states: Truth will prevail (full motto of the nation is even better - Truth and love will prevail over the lies and hatred.)
@tomaspisecky48359 ай бұрын
Btw Jan Hus prerached the bible on nation’s language not in Latin as was customary by Catholic Church that was another as significant right demanded as was their communion of bread and wine as well as strong criticism and condemnation of church corruption, he was just and kind as well and was rector (head) of the highest and most prestigious university in the country - that is why he was respected and loved by whole country, that was what was misunderstood by the pope and heads of Roman Catholic Church and sparked the national wide revolt

How can you glorify scripture perverting wicked men as examples of faith and godlness? “ If my kingdom were of this world by disciples would fight “….’ Peter put up your sword’. We are like sheep led to the slaughter. Unbelievable! It’s a lie that many of you call yourself historians or intellectuals have bought that “well it was just the times that people lived in then that’s the way things were.” But that’s a lie because they were people alive that knew better that knew the Scriptures that lived differently they believed differently that didn’t do violence and murder and kill other believers
