Thomen's ability to play WITH vocals instead of behind them is unparalleled. The drums always seem fully composed and not as much as an afterthought as so many others.

I started writing about how much I love and adore this song and this album, which was the first thing I have ever listened from BG, 15 years ago. And then I stopped and start reading the commends, there I felt it. The pure appreciation and respect about Thomen, about his exceptional drumming, about the soul, the power, the creativity he put in this and every other thing he ever did, especially though in this album. Guys, I'm proud for the love we share about Thomen and I cannot stop wanting more from you my friend, we feel different when we listen/seeing you playing, it is just different in the best possible way!! Much love to you and again, THANK YOU for doing those playthroughs!! 🙏❤

I used to buy every album blind guardian released...this was the last one ...the last studio album. Then I bought the live CD and the DVD "imaginations through the looking glass". But anyway the live CD and the live DVD were part of the A night at the opera album too. I also was in the concert in the tour in 2002. After that I didn't buy any other albums by blind guardian because I didn't like the style. Since those years... A night at the opera was the new album by blind guardian and I still say:" the best of the new albums by blind guardian is a night at the opera" and my friends laugh at me say:"new album?". And since those years I have considered that this track is one of the most complex in terms of drumming...I don't know if you Thomas think the same...or if there are other tracks which are more difficult than this. Anyway...it is great to see that you performed it. I asked you that since you performed Battlefield. And a couple of weeks I asked it again. And you said you would do it. And so it was!!! Wonderful... Really cool. What a performance! Tommy the never disappointing bloody drummer!!!

I remember buying A Night at the Opera when it first came out, and when this song (the first song on the album, as we know) came on, I was like "wtf is this shit", but then I listened to it a few more times and fell in love. This album is such a masterpiece and your drums are so interesting and powerful throughout. I'm not a huge fan of Charlie Bauerfeind in general (the new Helloween album sounds terribly sterile), but I love the massive sound of your drums on that album. Thanks so much for doing more songs from ANATO!
@KiroProstoto Жыл бұрын
Who is a fan of Charlie😂😢 He screwed so many albums already… He even destroyed the B.G. orchestral album with his totally sterile mixing…
@gringochucha Жыл бұрын
@@KiroProstoto He did produce Angra's first two albums, which still sound great in my opinion. Other than that...
@KiroProstoto Жыл бұрын
@@gringochucha indeed. Almost everything he has done needs a remix one fine day. First we need to wait 5 years for an album and then 10 more for a proper mix eventually…

Charlie effed up so many albums. he's holding back so many blind guardian albums. never understood, why they work with him. beyond the red mirror is the worst offender
@gringochucha Жыл бұрын
@@HeavyMetalGamingHD I really wish Blind Guardian and Helloween would work with a new producer for their next albums, but that's very unlikely, as at a certain point bands usually stick to a producer they're comfortable with and no longer wish to challenge themselves with someone new.

Simply outstanding and everlastingly inspirational. 🙂 Thanks you for making this video, thou i noticed you improvised some parts compare how it was played on the original recording, i still enjoyed like never before this close up scenes. One of the things I really love about your style is that you have really interesting drum patterns. You know, guitars usually have great riffs repeating throughout the songs and you always wait for that moment, and you are the only drummer I know that does that with drums in every single song. You know when people make fun of drummers and tell they don't make music, just noise? This is really not your case. Your drumming always sound very musical and very inspired. I'm not a drummer myself, but your drums always sound and look SO FUN to play 😆

Wowowow! Absolutely stunning. The drumming on this album felt like the spirit of Keith Moon embedded in and expanded into a metal context - one of the few recordings where the drums feel like a thunder storm in the best way possible. The part at 4:37 and the "I hear angels sing" part in Punishment Divine are my all time favourites. Thank you so much for creating these videos. Hope Punishment Divine is around the corner.

Thomen, the master of toms and parts. Song changes something -> Thomen changes something. Makes the songs much more dynamic. So few drummers do it nowadays. Most of them just keep going. So boring! I think Lars Ulrich also was one of the drummers that wasn't "technically" "the best" but he had the same feeling for changing things on drums when the song needed it.
