The guitarist, face down the whole time, knowing the condition of Shannon. Holding shit together, although Shannon never missed a beat. It does look like there’s quite a bit of tension especially at the beginning. It almost seems like he even goes into it purposefully hard and flourishy, kinda supports what you were saying. Shannon loved life and was excited for the future but he was very tired and stressed out from working on the record release, birth of his daughter, Rolling Stone saying Soup was a flop which also took a toll on him mentally, plus throw touring on top of that and general press duties. He wanted to get through it so he could have a break and be with his family but it became easy for him to get a quick fix in hopes of keeping him going with such a busy schedule like he did so many times in the past but it just caught up with him. He lives forever now as a young musician who will continue touching lives and serves as an example of how beautiful, talented and underrated of a human he was and how drugs can be a costly, painful and irreversible mistake. RIP Shannon

This is the saddest thing I've ever seen. 😢 I was his age when his life ended, all these yrs later and somehow I still have a (mundane and ordinary) life and his talent and light is gone. Maybe I made better choices, not really, just got lucky, and had loving people who forced me to see the truth before it was too late. This video is not beautiful or poetic. It's obviously of a brilliant man dying before our eyes. And (maybe because of fame or $) no one thought they had the right to confront him or demand he get help. I wish they would have dragged him to the hospital and gave him an ultimatum to get better or leave the band. Maybe he'd still be here to celebrate his legacy if tough decisions were made before it was too late. Learn from this and don't wait one more day to demand your loved one get help, do whatever it takes to get them into a program, do it 20 times if need be, no amt of $ is worth dying for. I know you can't force someone to do it. But if he were this bad off, he should NOT have been on that stage to perform, they should have told him NO, maybe he'd still be here

Drugs will separate the legends from the heros. The legends will overcome and survive, and the heros, although delivering short lived epicness, will succumb. RATM were almost, if not always sober on stage and many of them had their own personal struggles with substances they overcame. Their performances are always incredible and spot on for that reason.
