I don't think it's just Twilight not knowing to delegate, but she wants to be this 'perfect' princess and 'best aunt ever.' She sets super high standards for herself. It kind of is like Applejack and her convoluted chores at the farm. Since Twilight is too close to the situation and both are important and personal to her. She *could* have easily had Spike do the errands, but she's putting pressure on herself to do it instead of getting it done through other means. She's more of a detail-focused individual than a big picture one.

Hmm, almost glanced passed this comment, but you caught my eye with the part about her being too focused on the details and not seeing the big picture. That's a very good observation, and fits in well with my point about her being oblivious to things going on around her. The main character flaw here is that she gets hyper-focused on details and doesn't notice the side effects of her decisions and actions when that happens.

I really like Flurry's drawing on the chalkboard and what it means if you look at it a little. It was a drawing of her with Twilight and Spike, and she looked so proud to show it to them. She clearly thinks the world of her aunt and sees Spike as family too despite never meeting him before to my knowledge, and it's really sweet that she's so eager just to spend time with them.

There might be a bit of foreshadowing in this one that most of you probably missed that I'll call out. In the story Twilight is reading to the foals in the hospital Grogar is the name of the villain. Grogar is a generation one villain, and considered one of the best villains from G1 (the Return of Tambelon episodes is where he is if you're curious). Maybe it's just a callback, but they've brought back G1 villains before in Tirek.

Excitable Twilight is an adorable Twilight! Loved how Twilight was cooing over Flurry Heart as well, I know that it's early in the season still but Spike has been great this season, really loving him so far this season. Seeing Cadance and Shining Armor like that was great, I really liked Shining Armor when we found out that Cadance was pregnant, so the fact that they're doing that more with both of them is great. Also love many of the jokes in this episode, from the shot about art, to the call back from Pinkie Pie's party cave, ect extra, so good! Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.

Regarding some questions you raised in the review: 1. Twilight probably doesn't consider asking for help or delegating everything to Spike because she already promised that "she" would do it. 2. I don't think the Cake twins have the abilities from their premiere anymore. Note they're no longer in diapers, Pound doesn't fly and Pumpkin uses no magic. I can also relate to this episode well except for multi testing when I'm babysitting my niece and my nephews it could be fun and and it be hard at the same time but I love them no matter what

If flurry heart were a human, she would be me as a baby. I was constantly climbing on everything. I once broke out of my room by taking off the "child-proof" lock on my door, and I HID IT. I walked out the door. It was caught on video. Similar to how flurry broke the crystal heart and destroyed the spell.

Yeah, Pinkie saying "BRB" was...interesting. I also liked that little sigh she made when Twilight asked her what her favorite treat was. For that matter, back in the premiere, the way Spike said "Thanks Starlight, bye!" and the little giggle Twilight let out when running off to meet with Celestia were both adorable. Seems like even the voice acting is stepping up a notch this season!

i agree with you. The music also has step up a notch so as the drawing for me. Also this episode was kinda interesting for the developement of the character of flurryheart. This episode has increased the level of cuteness over 9000 for me. Period. She was freaking adorable

Yeah, this was kind of the polar opposite of that (pun not intended, but strangely fitting). Honestly, if I would've seen anything remotely artistic about it, like varying shades of black and gray, or something, it would be more legitimate art in my opinion. Oh well, it was intended to be a cheesy gag, and it succeeded, so let's just leave it at that. XD

I have to say, I appreciate the time and effort you put into your post episode thoughts. It's more than a lot of reactors do, so keep that up, it's good to see. As for the episode itself, I liked it. I was worried it was going to be a rehash of the Pinkie episode with the Cake twins from season two, but thankfully it was different enough that we aren't getting into the territory of repeating morals. I was glad to see an episode that focused more on Flurry, though I wish we'd gotten this in season six after her introduction. I'm curious as to how much development they can actually give to a character that's basically an infant, but it was handled well here. She seems like she's old enough to know right from wrong as an observer, as we see in the scene with the Cake twins, but all that goes out the window when she's involved in a situation like the one in the hospital. Kudos to the writers on that. Twilight was the star of the episode though. After what seems like forever, we have an actual Twilight episode again and it reminds us all why we love Twilight. She's wonderfully neurotic and self confident to the point of her own detriment. When you brought up the point of why she didn't delegate any of this to Spike or any of the others, I'd argue that it's not in her character to do so. She didn't think it was too much to handle before getting into it, and she's never thought she was above any one else to the point of delegation. I guess I'm still a little confused on what the moral is supposed to be here. Twilight herself says that this is her fault, but from my perspective, she did everything right here. She didn't ignore Flurry Heart at all, and in fact did quite the opposite. She delayed from her duties to chase her around the castle for a while and feed her, tried to make shopping fun for her with running through the store with the shopping cart and only stopped momentarily to pay for the toys, and tried to give her a couple of playmates at Sugarcube Corner while she picked up the cupcakes. I wouldn't call any of that ignoring her. Twi did everything she could except ask for help, which is definitely within her character. Spike was great and is continuing his streak of being great dating all the way back to Guantlet of Fire last season. I swear, it's like he can see all of this unfolding and offscreen just smacks his forehead and goes "Not again.", same as last week when he was watching Starlight cast her spell into the bottle. Rather than blaming Twilight, the real cause of blame should be put on Cadence and Shining Armor, which to their credit, took blame for at the end of the episode. You don't just spring something like that on your brother or sister, especially when you know they lead a pretty busy life. All in all, a rather enjoyable episode and glad to see Book Horse have her own episode again. 8/10.

Thanks! It does take a lot of work to put these videos together. Oh, and nice commentary yourself. I understand your point on how it's not in Twilight's character to delegate, which is true, but again, I feel that that's something she needs to work on. People who are promoted to management positions often have a difficult time delegating tasks to the people under them, and try to shoulder too much responsibility, and they have to learn to adapt to the idea of delegation. Twilight will burn herself out if she doesn't figure this out. In this case, given her choice to shoulder all the responsibility herself, yes, I do feel like she handled things quite well overall. She didn't freak out Lesson Zero style or anything close to that, but rather stayed calm and collected, even when faced with Spike's constant reminders regarding tardiness. That said, there were several moments where, because of the obliviousness problem I pointed out, she lost track of Flurry Heart, thus allowing her to get into trouble making messes, which she then had to clean up, making her even later. She WAS ignoring Flurry Heart in those instances, which is why Flurry Heart searched for other activities to keep herself occupied. If Twilight hadn't been getting pulled so many different directions, she would've been able to focus more on Flurry Heart, to play with her and keep her out of trouble. It's kind of like how somebody takes a day off of work to spend with their kid, but throughout the course of the day keeps getting phone calls from work that distract them from actual interaction with their kid, and the kid feels completely ignored and alone even though the parent is physically present, their dream of quality time with their parent crushed. Twilight's failure was in her refusal to admit that she had bit off more than she could chew and ask for some help, and as a result, she herself lost out on some quality bonding time with Flurry Heart, and almost let down the foals at the hospital as well. Sorry if you felt I ignored Spike in this. I guess I just didn't see anything very notable in his performance this time. He did well in keeping Twilight on track, and still enjoys stroking his ego with fantasies about being a big, powerful, heroic dragon. In other words, pretty standard stuff for his character since the shift in writing for him that started in season 6, or late season 5 (kinda started in the S5 finale). I am indeed glad that new writers are continuing to treat him well, instead of regressing back to making him the constant punching bag like in past seasons. ^_^
