I don't think the issue this episode was so much Rainbow's ego.... I mean... If it had been ANY other member of the fanclub she probably wouldn't have been remotely as upset as she was, but when the filly she basically sees as her little sister suddenly stops thinking she's cool and starts going more for a bunch of stunt fliers that disregard every shred of safety procedure in the book? Yeah no i can EASILY understand why Rainbow reacted like she did as an older sibling myself... It's scary to lose that ''cool'' place in your siblings heart... But it's even more scary when you see someone you care SO MUCH about trying to rush headlong into what YOU know is an incredible danger. So yeah she over-reacted yes, but her reason for doing so didn't at all seem to be egotistical to me, but rather mostly just an older siblings fear over the safety and respect of their younger sibling.

Hell it would have been a diffent story if Lighting was really a good guy in this epoides. It would have been a big hoof to Rainbow dash face for sure. And I have my hope up for that to happen. Would have been a good episode saying "you don't need a big life events to change peolpe" or the "just baucse I like this thing you don't know about thst doesn't mean it a bad thing" goodness know my mom could used a lesson like that.

What I like about this episode is that it didn't end in some cliche "Lightning Dust sees the error of her ways, reforms and disbands the Washouts" way, but instead ended on a personal note with Scootaloo, with LD presumably going on with her extreme stunt show. Because the only thing LD did wrong in this episode (Depending on how loose laws around the decision making abilities and rights of minors are in Equestria) was forcing Scootaloo to go along with the stunt even when she wanted to back out. After all, as she herself says, she isn't putting random civilians in danger anymore and instead the only one at risk is her own team that has already decided they don't care about the danger to themselves. After all, even in real life we have people putting themselves into harm's way for money and/or personal thrill. It seems she just isn't that responsive to fear and the only problem was that she projected that attitude to everyone around her, which she doesn't anymore. Now she only projects that attitude to her team.

it not that RD was blind to the fact that scootalooi couldn't fly .i think Rd still believed that one day scootaloo would fly and that why she was always pushing her to do better like her that why when scootaloo said she cant fly rainbow made that face. 18:17 . like it broke her heart to here scootaloo admit that.

I think less believing it, as RD realized the odds were extremely low, and RD clearly dind't care as far as her thinking Scoots could be awesome, but she didn't want to admit it directly to Scootaloo and crush her hopes of it maybe happening. RD's reaction was less to the revelation of it not happening, as to Scootaloo having apparently admitting it and having given up hope for it.

unbeknownst to us, this episode was the last of a lot of things: 1. The last time Lightning Dust makes a physical appearance 2. The last wonderbolt-centerd episode 3. The last episode focusing on Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash's sister relationship. (4. The last physical apearance of Windy Whistles and Bow Hot Hoof, as far as I remember) Man the ending is getting closer and closer... the last episode airs tomorrow, and then the week after it' s the finally...

Not even that, Dash uses her ego as a kind of self defense mechanism when she feels afraid or worried. She's not good at dealing with those emotions, so tries to hide them behind a facade of being awesome. She didn't know how to process all the feelings this was bringing up, so just went into 'RD Safe Mode' until she managed to work through them, which is falling back on a front of egotism.

I think it was trying to break No Second Prances' record for most unusual faces in one episode - it succeeded by a landslide. But seriously, though, I'm glad they finally brought back Lightning Dust, and gave her a worthwhile story. Like I said, her main goal isn't revenge, but to put on a great show and perform the stunts she loves. Taking Scootaloo was just a bonus. On that note, this was a great Scootaloo/Dash episode too. We still haven't had that one defining Scootaloo story, but this one does address the complications of her disability and where she wants to go in life. As for Dash, she shows a lot of maturity by putting aside her ego and caring more about Scootaloo's wellbeing. I don't know if Hasbro will ever address the elephant in the room (i.e. Scootaloo's personal life), but they always present some very touching subject matter whenever their paired together. Let's hope we get some definitive answers next season.

Tbh, I feel like Scootalo could have been more understanding about how Rainbow feels. I get that Scootaloo likes something else and it’s totally fine. But she didn’t have to trash the Wonderbolts like that.It just proves how quick she is to switch up.

Still, when I really think about what Scootaloo said about her never being able to be a Wonderbolt because she can't fly, and the way her voice was, that sounded like, deep down, she still really wants to be a Wonderbolt just like Rainbow Dash. But she just realized that she'll won't be able to do it despite really wanting to (if she'll never be able to fly) and THAT was why she seemed to just turn on the Wonderbolts. Something like this can hit you HARD, especially at that age, and a lot of people never truly experiences this: it typically mainly happens to those that has some kind of disability. Though it sometimes happens to others without any, under special conditions. This episode didn't directly say it but just gave those hints. But if it's true or has some truth to it, it should make the way Scootaloo acted more understandable, if you can empathize with her and not just Rainbow Dash.

I really enjoyed this episode. I think it's something that Rainbow and Scootaloo really needed in their lives. With Scootaloo looking up to Rainbow so much and Rainbow's ego this was really needed. Rainbow's attitude was a little much in this, but it was still a really good needing for the two of them bonding.

Scootaloo is confirmed not an orphan. It's in 1 of the official MLP story books, where it's stated she lives with her Lesbian aunts because her parents are always away working and unless the show contradicts that in any way, it's kinda canon

I wish so much that this episode leads to a real disability episode for Scoots in season 9 which also includes if she is an orphan or only has parents that don’t care about her. They have to go all out in the last season, otherwise so many people will be disappointed. Loved this episode, for me they are best sisters and best ponies, seeing them interact makes me happy. Scootaloo looked cool as a Washout. I wonder if she'll keep the outfit ? In Scare Master she dressed as a Wonderbolt. If there's going to be a Nightmare night episode she could dress as a Washout couldn't she ? And Short Fuse appeared in Top Bolt. Looks like he got kicked out from the acedamy. Maybe because of his short temper ? Rainbow Dash feared for Scootaloo's safety and for good reason. But Scootaloo had to experience the danger on her own skin. According to an old saying : Young hearts cannot be dissuaded from adventurousness by a few warning words. I think we haven't seen the last of Lightning Dust and the Washouts. And I saw Gallus, Silver Stream and Smolder at the audience. How would they look like as Washouts ? I think Thunderlane would act the same way as Rainbow Dash if he finds out that his little brother Rumble joined the Washouts. And what if the Wonderbolt members decide to quit and join the Washouts ? A Wonderbolts vs Washouts episode would be great. And if the Washouts make another appearance maybe we'll see Wind Rider as a Washout ? I hope so. Also according to mlp fanfiction and deviantart the Shadowbolts are ex-Wonderbolt members. And how would Spitfire react if she finds out that her mother Stormy Flare joined the Washouts ?

I really liked how they played off Lightning Dust. No eternal hate-boner for Dash, no big plot for revenge, she has moved on and is doing alright. I've really hated over the years how the Bolts have been generally portrayed as the antagonists or at fault in the episodes they've been in, and it started way back in Academy. The best team of fliers shouldn't need Dash to sweep in and teach them about teamwork. I always thought the moral of Academy should have been being honest when you are uncomfortable or a friend is doing something wrong. I always thought the ending of that episode shouldn't have been Spitfire coming out and apologizing but coming out and setting Dash straight on it being her responsibility as a wingpony to tell their superior when things are going poorly or dangerous. Dash covered for Dusts recklessness until the moment she blew up on Spitfire and quit. The moral should have been that people cant know what's wrong if you dont tell them. ...can you tell a certain episode still gets to me? Anywho, I enjoyed the portrayals in this episode. It was a fun dynamic letting them become almost friendly rivals with widely varied views than actual enemies.

Scoots could never fly, at best, she could slightly hover for a few seconds, and still can if she tries, she just seems to have stopped trying much as it becomes clearer that's the best she can do. Big Mac, had one scene where he was speaking, to AJ, about something that really couldn't be expressed well any other way and was a result of him being worried about her. The one situation outside of taking on some other persona where Mac will speak.

As a disabled person myself I highly hope that she never learns how to fly. Scootaloo is my favorite CMC member, because she doesn't let her limitations get her down, she continues with whatever she wants to do despite/in spite of her limitations, and that's something that disabled people need to learn. There's nothing wrong with being disabled, what matters the most though is how you handle your disability. But that's just my thinking on the matter.

To be completely honest though, every good kids cartoon has a character that represents the disabled. It’s kinda a rule- as a cartoon that is going to influence so many children, you want to reach out and give every part of the demographic attention. That includes people like me who live with disabilities, commonly physical. (I was born with an ear deformity called microtia, by the way.)

I loved this episode right up until the last two minutes. They didn't need to redeem Lightning Dust like Gilda or Trixie, in fact I think it would have been refreshing for her not to be redeemed, but they took her too far in the opposite direction by emotionally manipulating a child and forcing her to do a dangerous stunt, which IMHO is way worse than she was in Wonderbolt Academy and unnecessarily so. Her final line of "rivals for life" subverts the rest of the episode showing she's moved on from the Academy and built a new life for herself, making her once again Rainbow Dash's two-time archrival when they had taken her in a new, interesting direction. In fact, between her implying she still sees Rainbow as a rival, accepting Scootaloo into the Washouts when she initally refused her, and forcing Scootaloo to do the trick, I find Lightning Dust's behavior in the third act rather at-odds with her behavior up until then. And despite the episode having a great storyline with the three that solves the "Scootaloo can't be a Wonderbolt" matter in a good way, everything goes back to the status quo for her. So much wasted potential...

Prior to seeing the members of the Washouts, I suspected that Lightning Dust was one of them just by looking at the yellow tailed illustration one of the posters in the clubhouse; and I freakin nailed it right on the nose! I was expecting a redemption plot from her here too but, it’s fine that she didn’t change her ways. I liked how the bond between Scootaloo and Rainbow was put to the test in this episode, it went into some personal issues; mainly the fact that Scootaloo can’t fly(that was heavy). When it comes to highlights, the lecture scene with Spitfire was very funny and I loved it. This includes the character of Short Fuse too, he gave me a good laugh as well. Great reaction man!

Honestly I would have loved to have Lightning Dust and Dash joining forces and making awesome things together. The shows they could have pulled off, with the flying of the Wonderbolts and the awesome tricks of the Washouts ! (All secured tho, ofc). ...Buut this insane save of Scootaloo by Dash was worth everything tbh :D Although, I gotta say, we have a very different view of this episode ^^' To me Scootaloo was more to blame than RD. Or at least just as much. Oh, and Twilight aswell ; She can TP anyone anywhere, she could have easily stopped Scootaloo since it was so dangerous.

In today's episode we have a former "Wonderbolt" returning with her own organization the "Wash out" which is supposedly a more daring and also reckless version of the Wonderbolts. Lightning Dust returned and I'm actually surprised that she returned I thought she's just gonna leave the show, but apparently not. I'm glad that she's back because I actually like her she's the insane version of Rainbow Dash. Anyway, the episode started out as Scootaloo becoming a fan of the Wash Out and ditching her previous fanbase the Rainbow Dash fanclub and the Wonderbolts to become a member of the new Organization. Of course Rainbow Dash didn't take that with a good eye and tried her best to convince Scootaloo to ditch the Wash Outs and return to her original fanbase. She even went to a drastic measurement as involving Spitfire to get her dreams off the Wash Outs. The plan backfired as in Rainbow Dash completely made Scootaloo annoyed and making her dislike Rainbow Dash even more. The final solution for Rainbow Dash was to let Scootaloo make her own decision, join the Wash Outs and of course be ready to save her just in case she endangers her own life. By the end when Scootaloo experienced the true side of the Wash Outs she immediately regret her decision and wanted to quit but Lightning Dust didn't allow her to ditch out in the middle of the performance. The performance turned out to be unplanned and untested since it went south and nearly finished Scootaloo off, but thank Celestia she had her biggest idol to save her. After when Lightning Dust launched off into the oblivion Scootaloo realized her mistakes and apologized for being so ignorant towards her idol, and wise versa Rainbow Dash apologized as well for letting her ego take over her and not giving Scootaloo a chance. To be honest I blame Scootaloo more than Rainbow Dash in this episode because Rainbow Dash's concern was very fair since she literally decided to risk her health and life for an organization purely because of her fangirling. There's a difference between being blind and reckless and just being brave. Lightning Dust is at fault in this episode as well since she should've know that she can't just put someone on the stage with zero practice. Lightning Dust is typically the pony who takes actions before using her brain, no wonder she's still not qualified to rejoin the Wonderbolts. I don't have much to say about this episode other than why did Lightning Dust decided to come up with this new organization? Was it only because she wanted to shine or because she partially wanted to ruin the Wonderbolts fame as revenge because they kicked her out? Why did she come up with this group just now? Anyway the episode was really good, I like having Lightning Dust back and the lesson of this episode was pretty solid as well. The lesson was simply "Aim high but don't be blind". I give this episode a 7.8/10 it was a really good episode, it comes close to being great but it doesn't surpass the other great episodes such as "School Daze" and "Surf and/or Turf". Side thought: For some reason Scootaloo saying she'll never fly so many times makes me think that Hasbro will make her fly one day. It's that I'm sure it's not going to happen but then it will happen by some kind of a miracle and will leave you dismayed.
