Small correction: Hermes and Circe being exes is a concept that comes from a very modern novel and is not in the OG mythology! It’s very funny to think Circe and Hermes dated before this, but it’s not canon

Fun fact here- those “Oooohhh!”s are from Odysseus. Jay releases the sagas/canon visuals in livestreams and they sometimes have descriptions for events. For Circe, after Odysseus ate the flower it said, “Odysseus begins to glow. POWER UP!” Him singing on that level is showing the moly taking effect. Also, you can hear Hermes’ instrument in Puppeteer when he lands. That wasn’t just an animatic choice from Gigi.

If you’re curious why Odysseus was so quick to accept Hermes help, it’s because Hermes is known to be one of the most helpful gods. He will give you gifts and power because it amuses him and he expects nothing in return. He is the one who gives magic items to the hero in need, and the same applies to Odysseus here

Awesome reaction. Troy Doherty is the VA for Hermes and he's an absolute hoot. In fact, he's adopted the Hermes persona and has done a series of shorts, both with Jay and on his own -- they are hilarious with full sass on display. A very catchy song, and again something we haven’t quite heard from the musical yet. So the reason Hermes’ design has shaded eyes is because his singer is always wearing shades/sunglasses. At least to my understanding. It also just helps give off that trickster vibe where you’re not really sure what he’s after. Also, Hermes is Ody’s great grandfather. So that’s a fun tidbit.

When Voiceplay does the eventual “Epic in 5 minutes” medley, Cesar has dibs on either Hermes or Polites, but Eli gets Poseidon, Geoff gets Polyphemus (no filter needed) and maybe if they’re lucky they can bring Teagan in as a special guest since she did the original parts for Circe/Hera/Aphrodite/Penelope as well as Athena. Layne probably gets Eurylochus since he uses background vocals instead of vocal percussion.
