Fun fact. Disney saw this and invited them to perform it live at a huge corporate event. Doing it live was tricky. They layer their voices, especially the beatboxer. For a recorded piece he can have a dozen lines or more for the different sounds. For a live performance obviously he can't do that. They showed their patrons a portion of a rehearsal they were doing for that performance. They can do any genre. They have a Disney playlist as well as one for Broadway. They have done several video game themes, hard rock and ballads. They did a version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight that will have you falling off your chair. Trust me!

First rule of a capella- if you don't see it, it's the singers/ vocal percussionist. If they use anything not coming from them, it is in full view.

The bass Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci has his own channel and does low bass covers. He did Jack's Lament from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Amazing!.

Can tell you're going to enjoy this VP rabbit hole! Apart from being insanely talented and independent, they also have the widest genre range and are not called the theatre kidd of a capella for nothing 😉 Enjoy! 🌹🕊

Welcome to the VoicePlay / Geoff Castellucci rabbit hole. We are all mad here. ❤ Layne, beat boxer, can make all kinds of sounds that don’t seem humanly possible. In Valhalla Calling he does a door creak that will blow your mind. And in their Chipmunks christmas song he does sleigh bells. He actually did those live for us on a chat. He is amazing. He is also known as Violayne and the Carrot Lord but i won’t overwhelm you with those stories now.❤

Oh boy! they have quite a Disney Broadway catalog. Voiceplay are the absolute kings (in any genre) of Halloween and videogame theme songs. Almost all of them worked at disney too before they went full time to Voiceplay.

I absolutely knew you would love this one. It is really one of my favorite Voiceplay covers and your reaction was fantastic. Thanks for brightening my day with your infectious laughter and smile.

Loved your enthusiastic reaction- thanks! As you have already learned Voice Play is a group from Orlando Florida, different from other acapella groups (they are called the theater kids of acapella) as all members and most of their frequently featured guests have worked for Universal and/or Disney theme parks but are completely independent now doing all of their own production mostly through PattyCake Productions owned by their former baritone singer, Tony Wakim, and beatboxer, Layne Stein (lots of Disney stuff on this channel too). Yes, they did the lighting, setting and thunder sound effects here. For more Disney, check out "Hoist The Colours" from 'Pirates Of The Caribbean', "Hellfire" from 'Hunchback Of Notre Dame' or "Lion Sleeps Tonight" (just to name a few of my favorites). They have a few covers from "Nightmare Before Christmas" and Deep bass singer, Geoff Castellucci, has his own solo channel too.

If you want to hear more of Layne (the beatboxer) singing, check out their cover of True Colors. I think he sings more there than on anything else they’ve done. It’s an older track with a slightly different line up, but there’s three you’ll still know. 😊

Yes, every sound is generated by the group. Crazy, I know.

Layne (fellow in the red cardigan is the beatboxer). Eli is the bald guy, Cesar is on the left end. Ashley is the woman. She talked Geoff (low bass) into doing the chameleon character and to wear the larger version of her outfit. Both Cesar and Ashley Diane are native Spanish speakers.

Glad you had so much fun! Didn't know the fun fact about the Madrigal! Learn something new every day, right? Their covers of "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica and"If I was a Rich Man/Girl" are some of my favorites, but their rendition of "Creep" by Radiohead hit me hard in the feels! Bring your tissues with that one! Fantastic video and reaction! 😁👍

Howdy from another native Texan(living in NC)! Really glad KZbin suggested your channel to me. Love watching your heartfelt reactions to videos, especially my favorites (Home Free and Voiceplay) and I’m thrilled that you love them, too, because I know I get to watch you experience the joy they bring with almost anything they do. These two are the best in a capella, in my opinion, and I listen to everything they share and I love to see others marvel at their talents. Your reactions are fun, even without lots of vocal analysis. The joy shows on your face with each little spicy moment in their songs, well before you pause the video to tell us about it, and I love seeing it! Please dig into these groups and learn their names and seek out their solo or “out of group” collaborations. You’ll find amazing content from Geoff Castellucci, Tim Foust, Austin Brown, and Adam Chance in particular. Through Adam Chance’s “Going Over Jordan,” (edited - sorry, it’s called “Wayfaring Stranger”) I discovered a magical couple known as The Hound and the Fox - their voices are HEAVENLY and I go to sleep most nights listening to their “Lullabies” playlist. My daughter recently introduced me to another group called The Tors. They are a trio from England, and my favorite of theirs is called “Anything Can Happen.” Their KZbin channel is called “Tors Band” and the best version (imo) of the song is the live one. It’s an amazing song that, to me, seems to be about facing down depression - very empowering! “Hold Me” is also incredible. Anyway, I look forward to more of the great music you share and seeing the pure joy wash across your face.

J - There are several ways to go next...ALL GOOD! You saw "Little Mermaid," so VP's "Moana Medley" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/ap-wZn2Qa6l_lbc ) is a good choice. That's VP's most popular video, but their #2 most popular video, "Oogie Boogie's Song" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5PbnIKkqd9liaM ), is better IMHO. If you aren't familiar with the original Oogie Boogie scene ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ24g3uQarmZebM ) from "The Nightmare Before Christmas", watch it first...and you'll REALLY be impressed with the creativity of VP's cover. Hey there. Love the VP reactions. I am wondering if you'd be willing to react to a cover of the same song by Angelica Hale. She is 16 now but was 14 I believe when she did the cover. She sings all of the parts and is really amazing.
