For the last handful of video lessons we have been focused on learning some basic card handling skills. It's time now to apply some of these skills and put together a simple effect that you can perform with just a few minutes of practice. The trick I teach you in this video is incredibly easy to do, but it makes you appear to have absolute mastery with a deck of cards.

You can alternatively use the black 6 and black 9, because they're easier for people to confuse so they might not realize the suit changes. Also clubs and spades can look more similar to one another to a novice than hearts and diamonds

I like your suggestion of using the black 6s and 9s

A lot of people catch this. Its much easier if you use the same cards from a similar deck of cards, Aka duplicate cards. Also can actually shuffle by shuffling and starting with the placed bottom card and then do a normal shuffle cutting short about 5-10 from the top. Keeps everything in order and you can actually shuffle.

I have done this o laymen probably 30 times, and once has someone said "those arent the same cards" eventhought he wasnt sure about it. And I usually use 6 and 9.

I learned that trick a long time ago with the red 6’s and 9’s. Very good trick. I love the touches with the false cuts.

Definitely fun! I’d say to focus more on the performance aspect of the I’m going to do this one handed. I see a lot of magicians focus on technical applications over connecting with an audience. Amazing tutorial!

I think using 6 and 9 makes it less likely for the spectator to spot the inconsistency. Especially the black 6 and 9, they are easier to confuse.

I've done this trick many times and A LOT of people notice the discrepancy. I recommend using duplicate cards. The "cut" and force at the beginning though, would absolutely fly by most.

Great little sneaky trick! In my vast minutes of thinking about how I would perform it (which I definitely will!), I thought it might be a good idea to do back-to-back different false shuffles and drop one card off each time so it doesn't look like the cards came from next to each other. Does that make any sense?

3 year old son is excellent Immediately after showing two cards forcibly "OK Dad 7 Diamonds 8 Hearts" "7 diamonds 8 hearts" "7 diamonds 8 hearts" "7 diamonds 8 hearts" "7 diamonds 8 hearts" humming "What will happen to Dad?" His 7 hearts and 8 diamonds showing the last two cards left "Nononononono" "No, Dad, 7 diamonds, 8 hearts." "What will happen to Dad?" The 3-year-old son was excellent
