@MrDarkweaver3 ай бұрын
It's not just talent. There is no question, of course he's talented. But do not underestimate the skill and physical effort required to perform these covers. He's dedicated hundreds, probably more like thousands of hours to develop both the physical stamina and co-ordination, but also the techniques he uses take time to develop to this level of proficiency. If you watch his early stuff, to the stuff he does now, you can see his progression in that period of time as he keeps working to get better. The reason he is so good, is he is like Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant in terms of mindset when it comes to practice. His work ethic, combined with his talent for rhythm control and orchestration, and his humble attitude that keeps him dedicated to the practice room is the reason he's great. I think people do people like him a disservice when they just say he's talented, because it ignores the amount of hard work and dedication to his craft, without which talent cannot truly flourish. The very greatest aren't just talented, they are an incredibly rare combination of talent, work ethic, and mindset to get better. Jorge's one of those :)

Most reactions do concentrate on the foot pedal - when you say he seems to hit the hi-hat top and bottom - have another look. When he starts he got two extra sticks in his pants and he essentially grab an additional one when doing the hihat so he hits it with two sticks at the same time.

Anyone who trash talks and dislikes this guy is simply jealous of his skills. They don´t think about the countless hours that went into perfecting his craft. And this is something that only a few drummers can commit themselves to. El Estepario is brilliant and in my opinion the best drummer out there - no matter what genre. I hope he is the new drummer for Slipknot. It was a brilliant idea to have two drumsticks in his belt and then pull one out when he did that double-stick hit on the hi-hat. Then I think he drops the stick on the floor when he´s back to the beat he did earlier. Not just a fantastic drummer but also a great entertainer.

I have no idea how to play drums or any other instrument but I can tell that what he is doing is extremely hard, he is using both hands and feet independently, each one doing something different with perfect precision and that is amazing. And if you want to catch everything that he is doing you have to watch the video multiple times because for example if you’re looking at the foot cam you’re probably missing that he’s doing a stick flip when he takes a 3rd one and hits the thing I guess what you call a high hat on the right then he drops it so quick that the camera barely caught it.

I think the commentator missed how he's hitting the right hand high hat from the top and the bottom. He mentions it but he's paying more attention to the pedal work. He's not hitting the top of the high hat on the down stroke and then hitting it on the bottom as he returns the stick back above the high hat. He has two sticks in his right hand that he's holding like scissors, one above and one below the high hat, so he can hit notes even faster by just rattling them up and down instead of having to keep passing one stick back and forth from the top to the bottom the high hat. So where/when does he get the extra stick into his right hand??? If you notice at the beginning of the video he has two sticks in his waistband. At the end he has none. How does he get an extra stick into his right hand while drumming with hardly anyone even noticing??? It's sick, it's while his right hand stick is flipping in the air. Right before he starts the top and bottom high hat sequence he does one of his usual right hand stick tricks where he flips his stick in the air and then catches it again. But this time while the stick is in the air he passed the stick he has in his left hand to his now empty right hand, then he catches the flipping stick with his right while pulling a stick from his waistband with his left hand... giving him two sticks in his right and a new one in his left again. He then keeps drumming seamlessly, getting double the hits on the high hat with the two sticks in his right hand. But if you're just watching casually he's going so fast it can look like he still has just one stick so the whole thing goes unnoticed. At the end of the high hat sequence he just drops one from his right hand and keeps drumming with one stick in each hand until right before the next high hat sequence, and then does the same trick again, flipping his right hand stick in the air, passing his left hand stick to his right hand, recatching the spinning the stick in his right hand so his right hand now has two, and pulling the 2nd and last stick out of his waistband with his left hand. I know I've never seen anything like that before. And it all happens so fast even the commentator appears to have missed it.

He has 2 videos out ,1 playing System of a Down on a hand pan and also 1 of him playing ACDC's Thunder Struck on a Tubulum . Playing Blinding Lights with 2 sticks , then 2 sticks to play the top and the bottom of the symbols while using the 1 stick for the snare hits . Then throwing in the base drum hits while switching between singles and doubles hit with 1 foot . He has to have so much head space ! I believe that he is a lefty . If so , he is a lefty playing a right handed drum set up ! Just wondering when he will find a way to play something using 4 sticks at 1 time .

In the 30's/40's has Gene Krupa change the drumming to the modern drumming, later in the 60's and 70's it was made faster, now this is gonna change the future drumming, A New Drummer has made A Change in Music.
