Heimdall having the Soul Stone in his body makes no sense, because like they said in Thor 2: "It's not wise to keep two infinity stones close." I don't think Odin would risk having the space stone and the soul stone together and suddenly go "well, the reality stone has to go." The soul stone will probably be in Hel with Hella or something like that.

And if you guys want confirmation on the timeline of this film, the entirety of the film occurs in between Civil War & Thor Ragnarok, which would've been a year in between. Strange learns magic extremely fast, and doubles that speed of learning by using astral projection to study as well. So the timeline of the film is most likely around 6-10 months. The colonel was Rhodey, there was no one else it could be, and they wouldn't have wasted the reference on the character from Iron Man 2 that got screwed in that Hammer accident. Also the fact that Avengers Tower is there means that this film would've at least have occurred during Winter Soldier.

@Do0msday8 жыл бұрын
The name drop of the Living Tribunal was epic and gives me hope for the Infinity War. I know they most likely won't be able to have many characters involved (i.e. Wolverine, Galactus, Silver Surfer, etc) but...this still gives me hope that they'll bring out some of the REAL supreme beings to showcase just how absolutely all-powerful the Infinity Gauntlet really is. And also...Wong had a Wand of Watoomb
@marshallvalentino25728 жыл бұрын

AndreNY When Mordo was talking about relics that channel power that they can't...he referred to his staff as "The Staff of the Living Tribunal". Body Length staff with a Ball and a circular hoop at the top. At a guess that could be Nicos mother. All awesome references to a wider universe, in quite simply a breathtaking film.

@Eric ... trust me when I say this. IMAX 3D is the best way to see this. It was absolutely fantastic and added SO much depth. The scene when he first moves through different dimensions was like having an acid trip in the theater. It was REALLY good. It doesn't so much have things pop out, but more 3D that adds depth. Like when you see the M.C. Esher like city folding over like Inception ... the cars look like they are driving off the edge and it was brilliant. I usually see movies in 3D because sometimes they're a bit of fun, but many are a gimmick. This was definitely better than many and one of the best 3D movies I've seen.

It wasn't set near Iron Man 2. In the movie it had a close up shot of an award Strange got for his surgery and it was dated in the year 2016. And when the guy called him telling him cases he could work one case was a spinal injury for a man using experimental armour which totally links into what happened to Rhodey in Civil War. He also mentioned another case where a woman was struck by lightening with a serious injury complicated by an electronic implant, that COULD be hinting at Captain Marvel

You guys are talking about the timeline and how this film fits together with the rest of the MCU. Strange's car accident happens around the time of Iron Man 2. The Coronal who injuries his back is that man in the Hammer Tech knock off suit. Strange then has 7(?) surgeries on his hands to try to fix them. I would have to attempt a guess that the recovery time and physical therapy after each surgery would be at least 6 to 9 months, right? Letting him have around 2 surgeries per year. So time passing from the car accident until he embarks to Kamar-Taj to be at least 4 to 5 years spending just about his entire wealth in the process. Then his training sequence is at least a year, because the Ancient One says "how did you become a surgeon?" to which Strange replies "study and practice, years of it." I would have a hard time believing he would be able to pick all this stuff up and be able to defend the NY Sanctum by himself in less time than that. If IM2 was indeed in 2010, the 4-5 years of surgeries and 1 year of training would put the confrontation of Stange and Kaecilius at the NY Sanctum and onward happening post Civil War. My only problem would be, the opening scene when Kaecilius comes to steal the pages from the book. Is that scene chronological? My guess would be no. Kaecilius did not have those pages for 5 to 6 years and did nothing with them. As I see it, that opening scene would have happened maybe about 6 months before Stange came to Kamar-Taj. Then comes the mid credit scene with Thor. I believe that particular scene is lifted right out of Thor Ragnarok, just like the mid credit scene from Ant-Man was taken from Captain America Civil War.
@teipeu90336 жыл бұрын
HardPunkKore I think the original scene is just setting up what the maguffin of the movie will be.

Last comment from me if you want to know what the Infinity Stones in the MCU are right now and where they are. Tesseract (Cosmic Cube) - The Space Stone - Blue - In Odin's Treasure Room on Asgard Aether - The Reality Stone - Red - With the Collector on Knowhere The Orb - The Power Stone - Purple - In that vault on Xandar in the possession of the Nova Corps Scepter Jewel - The Mind Stone - Yellow - In Vision's Head The Eye Of Agamotto - The Time Stone - Green - At Kamartajj This leads me to believe that the last Infinity Stone, which will be the orange Soul Stone, will be with Adam Warlock and will be introduced in Infinity War Part 1 (even though that film's official name is now just Infinity War), since there won't be any Infinity Stones in Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
@GlamdringandOrcrist8 жыл бұрын
Just as a side note, most of these Infinity Stones for the MCU are not what the actual Infinity Stones from the comics are. None of them are the actual color that they are from the comics and none of them have ever been tied to other relics like they are in the MCU.
@Phanthief958 жыл бұрын
GlamdringandOrcrist Actually, there is speculation that the Soul Stone is with Heimdall, since it would explain how he's able to see everyone in the universe.
@GlamdringandOrcrist8 жыл бұрын
Felix De La Cruz He's been able to do that in the comics and in Norse mythology without the Soul Stone, so having it with him would be redundant. Plus there was a pretty big Easter Egg in Guardians for Adam Warlock and Adam Warlock is an EXTREMELY important character in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline
@Phanthief958 жыл бұрын
GlamdringandOrcrist Except in both Thor movies & Age of Ultron, it was never explained how he was able to see everyone, just that it's something passed down from gatekeeper to gatekeeper. As well, his eyes are orange like the stone, so that's how the speculation came to be.
@GlamdringandOrcrist8 жыл бұрын
I'm not saying it's a bad theory, but I don't think it's a good idea. The Stone has never been the source of his power, its something he has as the gatekeeper of Asgard. Every gatekeeper has had that skill to see everything. Also, I don't think they would associate three Infinity Stones with Asgard. Using the Soul Stone as a way to introduce Adam Warlock, who traditionally is the character most associated with the Stone considering that he has the Stone implanted in his head before, is a way better thing to do from a writing standpoint

The fact that the villain did not get much development for me was both good and bad. It could have been better with more development of Casillius(how ever its spelled). However I liked that this was a double origin story. None of the other solo films developed the villain along side the hero for the next film. Now with Dr Strange 2 we already have much of the arc for the villain completed giving more time for just an awesome all around movie.

doctor strange is set post civil war, at the very least post Avengers because it's Avengers tower, the completed towe, not the half destroyed one, and also, technically Avengers tower still exist, just because they moved to the compound doesn't mean they tore the tower down, I mean that's alot of work, the Avengers have been known to have multiple home bases, so the tower would still be there in New York - and also, the post credit scene with Thor indicates it has to be post civil war as that scene is the link to Ragnarok

Actually that was not really a Sherlock's reference coz 177A Bleecker Street is Doctor Strange's real address in the comics which is located in Greenwich Village which kinda does exist. the Tesseract is the Space Stone, Loki's Scepter is the Mind Stone, the Aether is the Reality Stone, the Orb in Guardians is the Power Stone, the Eye of Agamotto is the Time Stone which leaves the Soul Stone but currently only two is on Earth one with Vision and the other is with Doctor Strange. Tesseract is in Asgard, the Aether is with the Collector and the Power Orb is with the Nova Corps
@reginaldkelly42698 жыл бұрын
+Blind Wave the Tessaract is the space gem was on earth now with Asgard. The Aether aka the Reality gem was in Asgard now with the Collector. The Orb aka Power gem was on an alien planet now with Nova. Loki sceptre had the Mind gem that he actually got from Thanos then went to Shield to Hydra to Avengers to Ultron now with Vision. The Eye of Agamatto is the Time gem. The last one not yet introduced is the Soul gem.
@Darkpoet17928 жыл бұрын
The Aether wasn't on earth. It was on another realm but because of the Convergence Jane got pulled into that dimension. The Tesseract was on Earth, Loki's Scepter had The Mind Gem in it and was not on Earth until Loki got here. So far there has only been 2 on earth, The Aether and The Time Gem. So we have The Orb (Power Gem) located on Xandar with the Nova Corp, The Eye of Agamotto (Time Gem) located around Doctor Strange's neck, The Aether (Reality Gem) located in the Collector's Museum on Knowhere , The Tesseract (Space Gem) located in Odin's vault on Asgard, The Scepter (Mind Gem), located in Visions forehead, and the Soul Gem has yet to appear. The T.H.A.N.O.S. Theory is pretty much coming true but we're missing the H so most people are thinking it is Heimdall that has it because he can see all the souls in the 9 realms but that's not how the Soul Gem works. The Soul Gem can affect others souls and allow you to control them. However the most likely one, which I seen on an article yesterday, is that the H stands for Hela because Hela being the Goddess of the spirits and souls of the undead can manipulate souls. Great review as always and I can't wait for you two to discuss the AoS tie-ins.

There might be a connection to the location of the last infinity stone made in Age of Ultron. Thor had his vision, and in it Heimdal's eyes were blind. They are usually orange. A very vibrant orange. In which case is the color of the last stone. Heimdal also makes a few comments about being able to see souls. The aether was able to take a "host" as did some of the other stones. The soul stone is in Heimdal's eyes.

The final Infinity Stone is the Soul Stone which in the comic storyline was with Adam Warlock aka "Him" which would fit with the THANOS letter theory but he would be very hard to add to the movies now IMHO. As of last night I saw that Hella is in Thor Ragnarok which is the ruler of the underworld in Asgard which would make it make sense that she could have the Soul Stone maybe in her helm. And on another note, my favorite Theory about the MCU is that Stan Lee is playing the character The Watcher :)

First it should be noted that Director Scott Derrickson has directly stated that the colonel mentioned in the start of the movie is NOT James Rhodes/War Machine, which frankly is kinda stupid because the timeline I could piece together would fit perfectly with it. WHiH News (A MARVEL KZbin series meant to help with the MCU timeline events) "interviewed" Doctor Strange on May 6 2016, so his car accident likely happens sometime after that. The next few months were spent doing his hand operations, finding Kamer Taj and going through his first bit of training. The timeline is caught up to present day by the third act when Strange "borrows" the Eye of Agamotto.

This movie is about dimensions anyway, and it's the only movie I can actually say should only be seen in 3D and where the 3D makes sense, especially IMAX. Also the book Stan Lee was reading was a book (Aldous Huxley's The Doors of Perception about taking the psychoactive drug mescaline) he and Ditka read in the 60's that inspired what they did in the original DS comics. Stan came up with that cameo because he always laughed about that crazy existential stuff thinking it was nonsense, but thought he could use it to attract more readers from the "hippie" LSD generation.

177A Bleecker Street is the actual address of the Sanctum Sanctorum from the comics, not necessarily a reference to Sherlock

I think you had a problem with the timeline because Eric randomly decided it had to happen between Avengers and Age of Ultron. Yeah, the tower with the A got built in that timeframe, but it has been standing up since then, so the movie can be set in literally any time after the first Avengers movie. So there's nothing stopping it from happening a few days after the end of Civil War.

I doubt that the avengers tower is destroyed or anything, I assume that it's after civil war and the tower just isn't used

This takes place after civil war, the avengers tower was never taken down, they just don't use it as much anymore

mordos staff is actually a really deep cut marvel easter egg it was called the staff of the living tribunal...the living tribunal is a cosmic entity which shows up a lot in marvel comics.

I loved it. It's probably my second favorite standalone mcu film behind winter soldier. I can't wait to see more of the mystical side of the mcu.

@Blindwave the Tesseract is no longer on earth. Remember at the end of the Avengers, Thor took it with him and that is what he used to travel back to Asgard with Loki in custody.

The director said that the colonel who is mentioned in the car scene is neither rhodie or the "hammer" guy. Dunno who it is but it's interesting..

That's why in the post credit scene Thor is talking to him about what's happening in ragnarok dr strange would have shown up in avengers or the dark world because the Gillian's weren't from this realm if this took place between

About the timeline, Dr. Strange also must have taken place after Winter Soldier since that one guy mentions Dr. Stephen Strange as part of that Hydra watch list.

About the Rhodey easter egg....apparently the girl struck by lightening is Captain Marvel.

Dr Strange takes place after Civil War. At the beginning of the film, right before he gets in the car crash, one of the patients Strange refuses to see is described as a army colonel who damaged his spine during an incident with his combat suit. I thinks it's pretty clear they're talking about War machine.

I think my favorite part of this movie is that it officially established the multiverse, meaning if for any reason Fox and Marvel make a deal to have the X-Men around for even a single movie, they now have a way in
@Vamparina4138 жыл бұрын
I think the timeline before the accident is probably Iron Man 2 (i.e which is about the Hammer suit since it is experimental and all not like a well known suit like the War Machine suit) and the one in Manhattan with the Avengers Tower is probably after Winter Soldier (i.e. Sitwell mentioning Steven Strange) to before Avengers 2 coz after Age of Ultron there was the Avenger's compound which we saw in Civil War so it probably isn't after Civil War.. at least not until the mid credit scene which I feel is a scene in Thor: Ragnarok where he is probably a Sorcerer's Supreme by then kinda like the end credits scene in Ant Man which turned out to be a scene in Civil War itself.

177 A Bleeker Street is Dr Strange's adress in the comics, so that Sherlock Holmes-reference predates Cumberbatch. Makes for a funny coincidence now! :)

You could assume that he learned too fast, but in the third act of the movie, when he fights in the sanctorum etc. he uses spells, that we see him done (trying) before and it is mostly basic stuff (shields, whips etc.). Without the cloak, he would have been killed. And using the time gem seems to be easy, because the ritual is in the book and the other sorcerers rather don't use the gem, then using it. There is no moment in this movie, where he does something extraordinary even to the sorcerers (How can he do this? He IS the Sorcerer Supreme). He has to give back the Eye of Agamotto. He's never called Sorcerer Supreme. The only stretch to me is, that he now is the guardian of the Sanctum Sanctorum. Is there no other more experienced sorcerer? He beats Kacillius and Dormammu with his smarts not necessarily with his powers.

Hey ether was not on earth...it was somewhere else but they did not clarify the place...bcz when Jane find it, it was on one of the covergence point n that's why haimdall didn't see her at that point but it doesn't mean it happens to be in earth. convergence point can be anywhere right.

This movie is after civil war in the MCU timeline because the A on tony house hasn't change it just means the avengers now have 2 bases and the ending with Thor is set up 4 Thor 3

So i think I was wrong on the timeline after gaining more information and watching it again the timeline of this movies should be somewhere before Cap 2 and after Avengers (probably somewhere around Iron man 3) but the after credits parts are after Civil War
