The fight scene where Strange fights Strange using LITERAL MUSIC NOTES was one of the coolest and most fun fight scenes I’ve ever seen in a Marvel film. She really needed to meditate and find some inner peace through Shamballa.

I liked the part when Strange asks "You guys charted in the 60's?", in reference to a 60's band named The Fantastic Four, which reached #6 in the Billboard chart in 1967. A few years later another good band named "Three dog night" would also get into the top ten of the Billboard chart, with a song named "Mama told me (not to come)", but I personally prefer another one of their songs, that goes like this: Wash away my troubles, wash away my pain with the rain in Shamballa. Wash away my sorrow, wash away my shame with the rain in Shamballa.

Loved this movie. I love the intensity, horror themes, and just everything. I do think that our Wanda (Scarlet Witch) at the end of WandaVision had truly found a place of SHAMBALLA, as she had felt extreme remorse for the actions that she accidentally committed, and did not want to hurt anyone, but only help people. She is truly a superhero and good person at heart. I wasn’t expecting it, but they jumped so quick into how corrupted the Darkhold really made her. It makes sense though. Even her suit was completely different than the new suit at the end of WandaVision. While Wanda was making the decisions, the Darkhold obviously had a massive influence on every action she did in this movie, up until she destroyed all of the Darkholds and sacrificed herself. I think if/when we see her again, she should be that same kind, remorseful hero we all know and love.

One other thing was I found it interesting how Wanda's arc in this movie was remarkably similar to Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2, since both movies where Sam Raimi. Both former "good guys" that get corrupted by an evil thing after losing someone they love, and they both end with realizing their villainy and crushing four pillars holding something above them to stop the bad evil from continuing and doing the whole "I will not die a monster" thing. Wanda is my favorite MCU character, and I really loved this movie, but I also think it is very f'ed up that Wanda, a woman repeatedly traumatized her whole life by endless death and loss, was villainized in this way, with no true redemption (that end and what she did was not a redemption). I chose to believe we will see her again because I cannot fathom the MCU leaving her character like this. She needs real closure, and also there's Vision flying around somewhere. I have to think whenever Vision returns, as will Wanda. Maybe to Shamballa.
@Anu321482 жыл бұрын
Yeah, also I feel that vision not being in this movie is becoz of that, viz always knew the right things to say to Wanda, if he were in the movie then wanda wouldnt go as far as she did and the movie would be a different story
@amandas26392 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't think there's any way they'll let this be her last appearance. She's basically got god-like powers by now, so burying herself under some stone isn't going to take her out. I'm not sure how they're going to redeem her at this point, though. Yes, they can say the Darkhold corrupted her, and it did, but Wanda's whole thing is that she makes terrible choices that hurt other people, and while hurting them isn't her primary objective, it's a byproduct she sees as being acceptable if it means she gets what she wants. She had hints of that throughout Wandavision before finally being confronted with it head-on and ultimately choosing to do the right thing by releasing Westview, but then she still turned to the Darkhold anyway. Maybe this will finally be the wakeup call she needs to learn how to live and cope with her trauma in healthier ways, I don't know. By the same token, though, if *I'd* lived her life and then realized I could warp reality to be whatever I wanted, I'm not sure I'd do a whole lot differently. I mean, preferably with a lot less murder, but just saying.

To be fair, the movie didn't take into account the power of the Darkhold when it came to her. That's my biggest problem. They do absolutely nothing to show that Wanda doesn't still have near complete agency, which makes it a complete 180 on her character. If they had shown the Darkhold corrupting and controlling her, it would have made sense. Instead they just showed her as an extreme villain (that doesn't even care about Vision? What's the deal with that?) willing to kill anyone, something she has never before shown in the slightest. She's never even really knowingly and willingly harmed people. Every time she's realized that she was, she stopped and felt incredibly guilty. But you don't just murder dozens of people without realizing that that's what you're doing. I just wish they had made a twist that it was a Wanda from another universe taking control of our Wanda. That would have made it infinitely better.

I think as a comic reader I looooooved Wanda's progression into madness because I knew the Darkhold would send her into a spiral. I think people who were disappointed let themselves get too hyped about the cameos and/or thought that they were gonna get the same Wanda from WandaVision. This is EXACTLY the progression I wanted to see for Wanda and Benedict and Xochitl were amazing in their roles too. This is just the beginning of Wanda's expansive role in this multiverse. Can't wait for her to return.

I was upset because it made absolutely no sense. They did absolutely nothing to show that Wanda doesn't still have near complete agency, which makes it a complete 180 on her character. If they had actually shown the Darkhold corrupting and controlling her, and that progression, it would have made sense. I could have stomached that a little bit more, even if I think it's a bit problematic as a message. But instead they just showed her as an extreme villain (that doesn't even care about Vision? What's the deal with that?) willing to kill anyone, something she has never before shown in the slightest. She's never even really knowingly and willingly harmed people. Every time she's realized that she was hurting people, she stopped and felt incredibly guilty. But you don't just murder dozens of people without realizing that that's what you're doing. I get that something like this happened in the comics. But these aren't the comics. You can't apply backstory and concepts from the comics directly to the MCU, because there are a lot of differences. And the way they portrayed her in this movie basically ignored and destroyed almost everything about her character from WandaVision and the previous MCU movies, withiout giving a logical reason as to how she became what she is. They took one of the best characters in the MCU and ran her through a meat grinder. I just wish they had made a twist that it was a Wanda from another universe taking control of our Wanda. That would have made it infinitely better, not to mention made it much more interesting.

Raimi's distinct fingerprint was all over the movie and I loved that.... I think that sense of vision/style is missing from most Marvel outings which feel relatively "safe". The film for sure had some script & pacing issues but was a fun ride overall. Would love to see Raimi's original vision before Marvel ordered all the script changes & reshoots.

@@Blitz-dm3kv its been reported by dozens of sources since last year... but since you asked - the most recent source would be the Elizabeth Olsen & Sam Raimi interviews with Collider (by Steve Weintraub). Olsen notes she wasn't needed for the reshoots and Raimi goes into detail and says the original cut was 2hrs 40 minutes (!) and then they actually did reshoots to replace whole scenes and it ended up being more than half an hour shorter. Here's an excerpt: WEINTRAUB: I know the movie's like two hours, five minutes, two, 10, I don't know the exact thing. Did you have a much longer cut that you brought to that? I'm always curious about first cuts and that kind kind of stuff. RAIMI: Well, the first cut was I actually don't remember the length of it. It was probably like two hours and 40 minutes, and it slowly came down even though *we did the reshoots*. *We took out material even though the reshoots went in.* So, it slowly got down to about two hours and five minutes is the total.

Across the whole Wanda v Captain Marvel fight they have this good representation where the longer the fight goes, the more the Scarlet Witch's powers start to surround Captain Marvel. A hint that she is exhausted and in that moment her power hasn't been called up or as active as it was earlier, leaving her vulnerable.

Reed Richards' death was the most unpleasant one for me. It's ingrained in my brain now, it's pretty horrific, that blood curdling scream he makes before his head blew up made it tough to watch. It was like a fatality from Mortal Kombat, I mean if Netherealm ever did a Marvel fighting game that's rated M (which will be unlikely) they could do have that exact same fatality for Scarlet Witch on Reed Richards as fan service. I mean she just tore him apart like he was cheese-string.

The way a I totally love this movie. The whole time I was looking at Wanda being the scarlet witch and realized she would never find Shamballa. I completely lost it with the scene with she was with her kids in the house trying not to absolutely terrify them.
@ZariDV2 жыл бұрын
Perhaps the reason that nothing got through to Wanda until she saw her kids' fear was because that was the only thing that could shatter the illusion created by the Darkhold. Like you said, Wanda saw that she was wrong for what she did by the the end of WandaVision but her grief, loneliness and trauma were not only still in her, but amplified after losing her family again. I think the Darkhold latched onto those feelings, thoughts and weaknesses in her psyche and used that as the vehicle to corrupt her. We heard in the WV end credits that the Darkhold kept playing the sounds of her children's voices to her as she read it. So maybe, the Darkhold pushed her to do anything to get to her kids while ignoring anything else but that drive couldn't keep going once she saw their fear. If the Darkhold's point of control says "My power can get you to a version of your children where you can be happy with a family again so use my power and I won't let anyone get in your way", then how can that control hold up in the face of her kids being too terrified of her to love her. It was similar to how Vision breaking out of the TV land illusion forced Wanda out of it too because she can't keep up the delusion when faced with reality of him being scared of what's happening.

Theories: They called their own universe 838 or whatever, as opposed to 1, and it seems as though they have been looking at and catergorizing universes, so they could have seen Mysterio's reference to 616 and just decided to call the MCU that number? There will be a Secret Wars storyline of sorts where characters from alternate universes face off and in the end many universes combine into one as what happened in the CW Flashpoint and in the original DC Comic's Crisis on Infinite Earths, so that is how we will get mutants, inhumans, and the FF all in the MCU and it'll seem to most people that they've always been there? That is also how we could get a different Wanda who is a mutant and not an experiment who got leveled up via the Darkhold.

I would’ve loved it if we hadn’t just seen her get better in WandaVision… if this is where they were taking her character, it wouldn’t make sense for her to free Westview after realizing she was hurting people. It makes for a huge character leap, even with the Darkhold justification.
@jish552 жыл бұрын
@@mr.stuffdoer8483 But she didn't get better in WandaVision, the final scene is literally her flipping through the Darkhold as the Scarlet Witch and hearing her kids voices, showing she was planning on getting them back 1 way or another. Add in that this is how Wanda is in the comics (House of M is her literally ripping multiple people from their universe and forcing them to live in her created world and everyone there having to try and hold her back from doing more damage, eventually leading to her wiping out mutant kind across the multiverse and her causing literal genocide, destroying multiple universes that were made up completely of mutants).

Loved the movie. It cracked my top 10 marvel movies. I loved Strange’s development with him reaching some sort of moral awareness at the end. I especially liked his journey with Chavez being sort of a way for him to “make up” for or personally handle his past guilt with his little sister’s death. We really saw him become human and care in this story. I was iffy going into it because I just don’t really connect with Wanda’s motivations. I thought her creating kids and not being able to have the awareness of the chaos she’s causing simply because of her creating them. I was pleasantly surprised with how they handled that though, making those kids actually real in other universes and having the darkhold have some of the reason for Wanda’s wild actions. It was good to see Wanda reach an inner SHAMBALLA by the end and make the right decision.

Let's be honest, Shamballa is a really weak password. Seems like the guys at Kamar-Taj need to update their network security systems as well as their physical ones seeing how easily Wanda dealt with all of them. No MCU villain has dealt with so many heroes easily since Thanos! That's one thing I've noticed in comic book stuff, it's that the heroes are always at their strongest when they become the villain and they require so many heroes who are normally their equal to band together and stop them.

Benedict Cumberbatch was amazing, I can't see anyone else play Doctor Strange, he's phenomenal. And Elizabeth Olsen's acting was god tier. I was happy the illuminati were killed, they were entitled and arrogant, their deaths were so satisfying. Stephen tried to warned them and they brushed him off, so good riddance. In the post credits, when Clea showed up I was the only one cheering. Clea was created in 1964 and she eventually marries Doctor Strange, their love story is so epic. I adored this movie so much. I recognized Charlize Theron's Clea and was very intrigued. Her comic book history with Doctor Strange is extensive and flows well from the themes of this film as they are very romantically linked on and off through time. And she *is* from the Dark Dimension, being strongly connected to Dormammu. I do think they could have put in a few extra clues for people not aware of her identity since it was pretty quick and she's not had any history in the movie/TV MCU to be easily recognized...
