Aaron couldn’t be more wrong about MP100 being the same as OPM. Sure both the MC’s are OP but their motivations and characters are fleshed out way differently. I love both of them but imo Mob Psycho goes into a lot more intricate detail. I hope he can also see it once they’ve finished the season.
@Narutoanime16g5 жыл бұрын
agreed im loving this
@dnrorschach5 жыл бұрын
The way the stories are written is two objectively different goals. OPM is making fun of anime, essentially, a parody almost of shonen. It buys into all the tropes and revels in them and brings them to their most absurd status. MP100 is the "Watchmen" of comics but anime - it takes the tropes, sidesteps a ton of them, and critiques a lot of anime things while doing it (parents never being there, adults fighting kids and vice versa, being special, bad adult influences, etc).
@LightVelox5 жыл бұрын
it gets more obvious in the second season
@Enyoiyourself5 жыл бұрын
@@dnrorschach Not really. OPM makes fun of the action-type tropes, but it's not the main goal, I would argue, the goal of OPM would be the answer of the question "what is a Hero". In Mob Psycho, Mob's powers are a mirror of 'who' he is, manifesting in the form of his emotions, and the story is the journey of a kid who dosen't belong, fiding his way in the world. On the other side, One Punch Man is the story of a man who alienated himself from the world trying to help in it's protection. If MP100 is the Watchmen of anime (and not anime as a whole, it's only on action-slice of life kind of anime) OPM would be the story of Dr. Manhattan but with bureaucracy and an ideal, in a sense, is a critique on the labor structure and a search for meaning. The Monster Association Arc is the example of that, as the focus switches from Saitama moving in the world to how the world works and is inadvertently affected by Saitama's mere existance, and no matter what, the story always looks for sense in the idea of Hero.
@Merilirem5 жыл бұрын
@@balabanasireti Well there IS Saitama struggle with being OP and losing feeling. I mean its not as heavy as Mobs story which focuses on his inner struggle but it is there. Its like an undercurrent but it is the most important part of the show as far as plot goes. There is more depth in OPM than is many anime to be honest. I mean i like Isekai stories but i have read enough to know that most are basically just mental masturbation with some pseudo philosophy thrown in. They generally like to stray from real world issues but some do it so much its completely surreal to actually imagine such a world existing.

In response to Aaron, I think the greatest difference that One (the creator) did to One Punch Man and Mob Psycho was that he wrote Saitama as this man of incredible mental fortitude who just doesn't care what people think about him, an example was that whole fight with that Tank Top Tiger where they turned the crowd against him, and Saitama just didn't care. He even rolled with it. One made Mob a kid, he wants to be cool and popular and is a teenager and is susceptible to emotional and social pressures. Mob's 100% breaking point is a story mechanic to show that he isn't mentally strong and he does care what people say and think about/to him or what's going on in the world around him that stresses Mob. I think One explained this better somewhere, probably in an interview or something where he talks about how he made Saitama and Mob different with this character change. But like how One Punch Man was a parody of Superhero's or even how Bill Burr saw it as an analogy to working everyday in the office where you get bored doing the same thing. Mob Psycho 100 (in my opinion) is a look into the classic highschool anime, but here the main character _is_ a highschooler with all the feelings and pressures that come with being a teenager.

Its probably because of his emotions, guilt and savagery, that lead to him awakening to his psychic ability. I mean, Mob explodes when his emotion reaches a 100%, it only makes sense to think that this also apply to his brother since they're related.

"If no one's special, anyone can be what they want to be. It doesn't take anything extra to do that." *It doesn't take anything extra to do that* Way to totally miss one of the show's most salient points. You noticed that some of the happiest people are the Body Improvement Club, but don't see what it is that MAKES them happy. It's central to their name. Improvement. Effort. Hard work. The most satisfying things in life are what you work hard to get. Not the things you're born with and come easily.
@AdmiralObviousAckbar5 жыл бұрын
Why would you even include "Not the things you're born with and come easily." in your argument. That last thing literally counts as "ANYTHING extra". "It doesn't take 'things you're born with' to do that." See? Someone so presumptuous probably shouldn't say anything along the lines of "Way to totally miss"..
@cassiohenrique68155 жыл бұрын
Actually, I believe you, and the people that liked your comment, missed what Calvin was saying. He just quoted the OP song, and then added the " 'cause" (you missed this one) "It doesn't take anything extra to do that." after. He was saying that since everyone is not special it wouldn't take much to be special yourself.

@@AdmiralObviousAckbar "Way to totally miss" was internet hyperbole. Ok *I* missed the intention of his comment. I misinterpreted one comment, I haven't publicly misinterpreted 5 episodes prior.
