StormWolf spoilers v I liked Ubbe a lot in 4b, in 5a his writing was way worse and now I hate him, hopefully 5b and 6 will redeem him, he was looking really badass on the set of season 6, he had face tattoos and Ragnar's haircut from season 2, Hvitserk looked like he was beaten up and captured by Ubbe

I never said you were spoiling me at all. Obviously, Blindwave hasn't watched season 5 or 6, but now they'll know that Ubbe and Hvitserk don't die, and that Ubbe's character progressively gets worse, which will influence how they perceive all of that now. Not bringing up content they haven't watched yet isn't that hard.

No Ragnar never asked for power, like he said during one of his harass speeches in s3 "He did not aspire to be king & he never asked for power..It came about because of other peoples actions", Ragnar just wanted to explore, learn and discover, like he said to Ecbert "I'm a very curious man". ..Also No Ragnar only said to Ivar "Perhaps I will explain my actions when we get to England" so I wouldn't expect any stories about where he's been....doubt he did anything, he was broken when he abandoned his throne/people/family..So I imagined him wallowing, wondering about for years , remembering the good old days & his past mistakes. ..& yes Ragnar always has a plan though ..

Ivar is a very interesting character. I dont think Ivar wants to be treated with pity, that is the way they always treat him (especially by his mother),he wants to treated as a equal.

Something I find really interesting in this episode is the change in Ivar's expression when Aslaug says that you don't need to love your wife. I may be reading to much into it but he didn't seem to like the sound of that.

Aaron seems to be a black or white kind of guy and doesn't necessarily identify or relate to the gray that exists on the morality scale and the complexities of certain characters. Like I said, its good guy, bad guy with him.

What bothered me was when he basically started pulling shit out of his ass making out Ivar to be far more simple than he is. All that stuff about using pity just came out of nowhere.

Ivar is like Ragnar in quite a few ways...which is why their scenes together are great, they both have the same sense of humour.. Ivar has his fathers playfullness/banter side; he is also smart like him,.probally smarter in some ways actually. He also has one very important thing he gets from his father when it comes to battles/fighting & or war, but wont say yet as don't want to spoil anything. ..love my boy Ivar so much, he's so vulnerable & more himself around very few people ..Like his Mother & Floki

And yet on the other side of the coin, Ivar represents everything about Viking culture that Ragnar hates and wants to change about his people. Being sly doesn't negate the mindless animal violence. At least Bjorn and Ubbe understand that. They still raid, but they aren't insane. I think Ivar is more like Rollo and Floki back in his more crazy days.

When you guys talk about Ragnar wanting to kill himself I think you may be perceiving it wrong. There is a story of Odin hanging himself which gives him new wisdom and knowledge as a sort of reward for his sacrifice as well as the near death experience that allows him to see things in a new light. Since Ragnar has always been compared to Odin it may be safe to assume that this was what he intended to emulate. Perhaps he walked away from that ordeal with a plan in mind and then went directly to invite Ivar to go with him.

Ivar hasn't really *done* anything worth hating, but Aaron has a biased perspective against him because he doesn't come off to him as "good." It's weird. It's kinda like what happened with SAO Abridged Kirito.

No Ivar doesn't want people's pity at all and he doesn't use it to benefit him..Ivar wants more than anything to be treated normal & would love to be whole. Not sure you get him properly just yet, there's so many layers to Ivar but hope you see their is a vulnerable & loving guy there, he uses his jokes and cruelty to hide the real him, he just wants to be/prove himself as his brothers equal. At the dinner table he was messing around and again trying to be his brothers equal pretending he had sex and now Margaret is all is. He doesn't need to use anything to get his mom to take his side, Aslaug adores him, she love Ivar more than anyone. That smirk & smile she gave previously at the dinner table showed it, that to her it's "he's. My baby and he can do no wrong" ..e.g when he killed that child with axe "it is not your fault, everything will be alright"

Far as I can tell, Ivar has brittle bone disease and clubbed feet. So he can’t walk on his feet, which is why he drags them. Brittle bones can’t put too much pressure on them or they shatter like glass, his bones are extremely brittle and maybe he has a muscle thing with legs too. In s5, there is an episode which supports my point. I’m not a doctor tho, so don’t take this as fact 👍🏽

Okay the thing were Ivar killed that other child with an axe I don't consider it his fault. It's the fault of whoever put/left the axe in the wagon. If it hadn't been there Ivar would have gotten angry but I'm sure that kid would be alive. It's fun listening to your debates.
