I love Maya's slight smile as she jumps off the bridge and Biscuits freaks out xD One of the rare times she's not serious or angry. She's amused with herself haha And when she finishes her mission and Biscuits is freaking out again. And when she's on the roof eating. She's so smug with herself

There have been many normal people counterparts in the MCU who help the hero to achieve their goal or complete a mission. Like Happy Hogan, Ned Leeds and Darcy Lewis, but none of them feel more like just some normal, average, guy from the real world than Biscuits does. I loved his character and I think the show did such a great job at making him feel like both a member of Maya’s family and just this normal, funny guy.

The stickball 'lacrosse' scene was cool. And yea, it goes back to the 12 century, as known, the original name is not known, depending on the tribe, they all have different names. It was used as a sport to claim certain territories, it was considered "war of brothers" a "peaceful" battle of dispute. They did get very physical.

3:02 That actress is the beautiful and amazing Julia Jones. She had a small role in the Twilight films as the hot werewolf girl, she had a role in The Mandalorian S1 E4, and she was a main character in Dexter: New Blood. Edit: Okay, so you guys eventually looked it up, but whatever. She's still amazing regardless.

The one thing i didn't like that much about this show... i honestly could have done without Maya developing mystical super-powers. I'd rather she developed her powers from the comics via her senses and her having to rely on sight a lot more due to her deafness, mirroring Matt and his powers. And speaking about the casting... it's crazy, actually, thinking about Maya. I mean, how likely is it that you'd find a young, deaf, native american woman missing one leg. That's a very specific casting call.
@pmpowalisz7 ай бұрын
Well I like the fact that Maya didn’t have any superpowers except for the occasional ancestral mystical powers that came from her ancestors choosing to grant her at certain moments. Also like Eric said, it was a good tie in to Native American like lore.
@shadowcat16067 ай бұрын
@@pmpowaliszYeah. That aspect of her powers is what helps me looks past it. I'd still have preferred it if they'd done it without the powers (or, maybe at least some of them... especially things like that healing touch seemed super out of place to me) and found another way to tie her to her background, but it's fine. It's not like it ruins the show for me and other than that, i've been nothing but positively suprised by Echo.
@pmpowalisz7 ай бұрын
@@shadowcat1606 out of touch was the point, since much of Maya’s life involved violence, so it was very fitting that she used her mother’s healing power to neutralize (and actually help) her dangerous uncle Fisk, instead of more violence. It was fitting because it perfectly fit Maya’s story arc of moving on from her trauma filled violent past. The mystic power factor also completely caught Kingpin off guard (being a master strategist and tactician means nothing if you are unaware of a secret potent weapon), which wouldn’t have been the case if Maya had a deaf related super power.
@Madeintheshade659 ай бұрын
I hate Marvel changed her powers image the fight with Daredevil and she’s mirroring all of his moves that would have been so much cooler.
@zacharybartolo51119 ай бұрын
I can understand, I'm that way a little for Ms. Marvel. Honestly I think I would prefer her comic powers too, but I can't help but give them props for taking her name and giving her "echoes of the past" powers. It's somewhat creative. Also considering that Taskmaster will be in the new Thunderbolts movie, I'm wondering if they also just didn't want repeat powers. Probably not, but it's worth a think.
@HaleysTusk9 ай бұрын
It’s because the Taskmaster, who’s now female, has that exact power in the MCU. They’re already chocked with too many characters introduced, they didn’t want two female characters with the exact powers. Besides, they seem to want to upgrade many of their lower powered characters to have ‘bigger’ powers than the comic originals, Ms Marvel & Shang Chi are two examples

I feel like I'm in the minority but this episode has completely turned me against Maya. She's manipulative, selfish and doesn't care at all who gets hurt in her quest for a 'queendom' (which isn't even really a worthy goal). DESPITE all the pain she has been through she has no problem inflicting that same pain on others and propagating that cycle. It's really gross to me how much she just manipulates and demands from the people who love her and naively trust her (I get the impression Biscuits is not quite...all there. He's kind of a big dumb puppy). Just because she's the main character of the show does not make her a good person at ALL. I'm assuming there were plenty of people working at that warehouse who were just working normal jobs as well that had nothing to do with mob shit. Like, I'm sorry your mom (and dad) died but you still suck. That said I am SO impressed with the actress. Half the time I am not even registering that she's not speaking with her voice.
