The reason that Gunny doesn't fire on the ship is because her armor isn't rated for ship combat. The guns that the security force and Cotyar are using use different bullets so that they don't puncture the hull because if that starts to happen everyone loses, Gunny using her guns on the ship would punch too many holes in it

I just started binging on it myself in the last month. It's an amazing show. I always heard or seen advertisements for it but because it was on SciFi I aways figured it was cheaply done rip of of something. Didn't bother checking it out. The last great show I saw on ScFi was BSG. Egad! This show blows BSG out of the water. Boy did I miss out when it first came out. Though all things given, having to wait a week for the next episode would have stressed me out I think.

I think you guys are the first people I've seen to recognize Adam Savage immediately in this episode, and that moment put a big dumb grin on my face. Also congrats on finishing season two! It seems like only yesterday they just started the show, after so many poll losses, and now they're already this far in. I love that they enjoyed the dynamic between Iturbi and Janus, and how much they care about the crew now. Also Bobbie's started to win them over, yay. The ending montage is beautiful, and it has some of Clinton Shorter's best work in the whole show for the score, gorgeous stuff. Onwards, to more!

As per previous comments, this an S tier show that only gets better (Yeah, I am following your tier list). Season one is an exposition in a complicated world, and lets you get a grasp of what is going on, season two is about making it real and the third season is absolute gas and while it changes, it only gets better from there... After that hold on to your privates. I actually angry that this has not gotten the awards it deserves- finding flaws isn't easy with this show. The mind bending level of a attention to detail. It is genuinely hard to find faults- this is without doubt the most realistic version of our future (kinda hopeful here) that has been put on the screen.

Adam Savage is a big fan and friend of the show. In addition to this cameo there is a "Savage Industries" company logo in a scene of a later season. When the science ship first arrived at Venus they said that the atmosphere over the crater had become even more caustic. That's why they were having so much trouble getting probes down to the surface. Even before the PM changed it, the atmosphere on Venus is over 700F and full of sulfuric acid. When the ship was disassembled, none of the pieces or people were dissolving and the people did not seem to be in any pain so the PM must have created some type of safe "bubble" to hold all of the pieces while it does whatever it is going to be doing. The PM creature had that explosive device in the chest. At the end of ep 6 when there was a monster over Bobby, the drone was overhead and a light flashed on it, then something in the monster's chest started to glow brightly. Bobby rolled away, there was a flash of bright light, and the next time we saw Bobby there was no evidence left of any PM around her.

I really like listening to the guesses you guys make. :) You guys know enough about science (or, at least, science fiction), to make better insights than most people who watch the show. Chrisjen is very smart, and is capable of compassion, but she's also able to behave with absolute ruthlessness, if the situation calls for it. She is quite capable of doing really bad things to people, for all the best reasons. This is where Drummer gets introduced. By the end of next season, she becomes unforgettable. :) The two different groups get called the, "Roci Crew," and the "ABC Crew" -- Avasarala, Bobbie, Cotyar. The next season is freakin' amazing, and by the end of it you'll realize the absolute genius writing that began in Season 1.

For a standard implosion style nuclear warhead (like Fat Man from WWII) the core is a barely subcritical sphere of plutonium surrounded by a chemical explosive designed to compress it to the point it’s critical. It looked like they took the core out which is mildly radioactive and that’s what attracted the protomolecule hybrid

Venus atmosphere is so dense that if you would put a balloon with earth like atmosphere at 1atm pressure.. it would float in the clouds.. The Arboghast is just infalting some ballons wich helps her just float efforly above the surface... no energy needed to raise above the clouds if she needs to and only needs power to force her way down..

the proto molecule doesn't need an atmosphere so why bother? but it would need an atmosphere to keep the subjects alive before transforming them into hybrids. it can't do anything to dead matter and the change takes time. so it's possible that it would create O² and gravity around what it needs long enough to be able to modify the human structure.

Regarding Venus, at ground level/down low it is extremely hot and high pressure (like metal melting hot), but high up in the cloud cover, the temperatures and pressures are actually "normal" compared to what we have on Earth. The atmosphere isn't breathable and there would still be concerns about acidic clouds, but NASA has actually looked at the idea of creating a human habitat or mission there (it would basically be a giant "blimp base", coated with materials like teflon to help counteract acidic clouds it might encounter). Because Venus is closer to the sun and they would be high up, solar power would more than adequate for power requirements.

There are really two types of nuclear weapons, known as the gun type and the implosion type. The gun type was basically described by Calvin. One piece of fissile material is forced into the subcritical mass at one end of a barrel through a small explosion that is set of at the other end, leading to criticallity and the subsequent runaway effect, (explosion) hence the gun-type. The implosion type is shaped like a sphere and has a subcritical amount of high fissile material in it`s core, surrounded by a shell of high explosives that direct the explosion inward, squeezing the subcritical core into criticallity, leading into the runaway reaction, creating the nuclear explosion. I believe most modern nuclear weapons are of the implosion type.
