You're looking at that girl's thoughts from the point of view of someone that knows the creepy photographer is (relatively) innocent. Any normal girl that discovers she was being photographed by a stalker at the same time as her friend disappeared from that same location is not going to be thinking how helpful he could be.

I think you didnt catch a lot of the background info given. 1) It was Steves house, not Nancy's 2)He takes pictures of people that he thinks arent saying whats on their minds. This was more of characterization than it was forcing a narrative. It develops his character as someone who is often misunderstood/ seen as am outcast creep, but actually has pure intentions. And it develops Nancy's character showing that what barb said was true, she wasnt being herself. 3) They didnt "happen" to see the pics, one of the girls from his photography club saw him develop them and told Steve and his friends about the pictures (I guess you missed that scene? lol) 4)He wasnt, nice try tho.

Fun story...I was watching this episode whilst my flat mate was out and she failed to tell about the new lamp that's on a timer. So when Will spells out stuff for his mum, I was practically hiding behind my pillow and just as the "N" light came on so did the bleeding lamp and I just about pooped myself, thinking that the monster was coming after me! Love this show, and I'm really enjoying watching you guys react to it!

I think Nancy reacted like any other girl would if they saw pictures taken of them with there boyfriend like that. Creeped out like normal. At this point she doesn't know he is innocent and just thinks he was there to get his perv on. I mean it does kind of look bad. And that is how Steve see's it as well. So yeah can't really blame them.

I don't know if they noticed it but the quarry is also the same quarry in season 1 of The Walking Dead where the group was camped out. You can especially tell in episode 4 Vatos with Amy and Andrea fishing.

Well to defend Jonathan, we've seen that he is a photographer in training. He wants to study it at college and has lots of artistic photos on his stash. As a photographer, the idea of a group of people acting naturally and unaware of the capture (which enhances the naturalism of the scenes) is kind of a dream scenario and I understand him feeling like it was too good of an op to miss, some of the shots he took (the kids jumping in the pool, Nancy's sad contemplation before going to bed, Barb's staring depressed in the water) were amazing storytelling shots... But I personally wouldn't ever do that in such an intimate situation; only occasion I do something like that is with friends, and I always make the case of showing them the pictures and asking them if they can be kept. Since we know he doesn't display his art (yet) and just keeps it for self criticism, I can understand why he did it, but it was a really stupid move to not approach the photographed people in a sensible manner, making sure they understood that the power to keep or destroy the photos was theirs.

finally coming to these reactions really late 😬 but yeah… pretty much every kid that age in the early 80s knew morse code. i was an 8-year-old girl and ran around playing soldier and such with my friends sending morse code messages on our walkie talkies, tracking animals like they were enemy soldiers until someone’s mom flicked the porch lights and we all knew it was time to head home. or if we were in the woods the day’s designated “general” would radio us in. (the general being the chosen parent who also got a walkie talkie in order to “command the troops.”) we didn’t have cellphones and computers, we made our own fun 😉 of course we were also the kids who got commodore computers a couple years later and started learning to program because it was kinda cool like morse code was 🤷🏼‍♀️ damn i miss my commodore 64. anyways…
