It's real on the nose, but that's exactly what that song should be. It is quite beautiful. Be a good person, tell people you love that you love them, and don't sweat the petty crap.

@@Luke101 You're right, I probably should have used a different term. It's a great song when you realise that guys usually don't write stuff like this about the guys they were in a band with so directly.

What I love about the Blink 182 reunion single is it actually addresses everything and has all of them holding up their hands about how we can drift as friends. It’s real life, it’s mature, and it’s absolutely heart-wrenchingly beautiful. It hit me straight in the feels as soon as I heard it- tears in my eyes as I type this. Gorgeous track and so great to see the boys together and Mark back to better health :) Rather than simply being tourists in their own youth, this somehow sails the tightrope between nostalgia and fresh, awesome music. A triumphant return.

I was really impressed by the new Blink song. Blink 182 are great artists and always have been. Their problem is that they started out doing a lot of comedy so most critics refuse to take them seriously, but Travis is a top level drummer and Tom and Mark are extremely good melody writers. Blink have dozens of catchy songs. At a certain point their talent just cannot be denied.

Love your take on this. You're the first one I've heard say that it's a love letter TO EACH OTHER. Everybody else has said it's a love letter "to themselves". For me, that's a huge difference. This isn't them praising their band. It's them reconciling the things that came between them, and realizing how pointless those things were in the grand scheme of life.

I find your analysis of the music, vocals & lyrics very fascinating. It has introduced me and showed me how to appreciate music in a different way and much I would not consider listening to before listening to your insight. I’ve been wondering , do you find the analysis you do of various music helpful or a hindrance to your original music and song writing. since on one hand it provides a wide and different perspective, but its possible it can also fixate you on what you heard and go beyond an influence and affect your originality.

It’s the first album with mark Tom and Travis since 2011. But there have been two blink- 182 albums since then with Matt from Alkaline Trio. I’m loving this song by the way. Much more than I could’ve expected. It’s honest and doesn’t sound like it was written by committee. It’s also nice to see a song with actual instruments been played blowing up and the fact that there is space in a song and not just vocals everywhere like the audience might get bored and switch channels or something

They sound healthier. It's missing a lot of pomp that they usually have, but you can tell just how much they've grown. Like no real big dynamic changes, a simpler drum beat introduced half way through; there's not even that bite in the vocals that songs like "I miss you" had. Yet starting early with a keyboard part (in an opposite fashion to Adam's song,) a recontextualized "I miss you" (maybe even a callback to Where are you as well?,) and the lyrics really make for a memorial for the time they missed apart. The video itself feels like their own personal "Hurt," with the obvious callbacks. With time brings understanding it seems. And I'm here for it.

It's really interesting how they're calling back so heavily to their biggest emotional songs in Adam's Song, Stay Together for the Kids, Always, and Miss you, but not rehashing them. In particular miss you, you could sing a parts of that song to the instrumentals in this and it would be fairly close. However this is more evolving those sounds and feelings in a way that feels....very genuine. And shows that they've finally gotten to where Tom wanted them to go when he made Angels and Airwaves. A lot of their songs can sort of be about whomever you want, especially the love songs. They're often non specific, this is highly specific to each member of the band. Almost like you're intruding on something a little bit, they opened their hearts to each other and we are almost accidentally seeing it. Also very much had a feel like...Wiz Khalifa's song with Charlie Puth "See You Again", that they didn't want one of them to be gone and the remaining members have to make that song for their lost friend.

reminded me a little of miss you and adams song. Nice song. Its really hard for ageing bands that were so teen angst to comeback and write meaningful songs. Good stuff. Go take over the world again

I have to say, nirvana was famous for simple, straight forward rock. While blink 182 is not the genius of Kurt, they do write a wonderfully catchy-simple song. I think they should be celebrated.

Please listen to More Than You Know! It’s an incredible song that sounds like classic Blink and has some amazing double drums by Travis in the chorus!

Hi Justin, I hope you´re doing fine! I would love to see your reaction to Kvelertak´s latest single "Endling" from their new album with the same name of the song (it means "the ending" in Norwegian). I saw them live just a couple of days ago and they´re absolutely fantastic! I hope that you also give their album a listen! A big hug from Norway, keep being awesome!

Hearing blink 182 pronounced as 1-8-2 is wild. I’m curious how that happened where the wrong pronunciation caught on in the UK

I've listened to it a so many times and only now realized the line "I miss you, ain't always gonna happen" is a self reference to the fact not every song is going to be a huge hit, maybe.

I'm actually a bit surprised you didn't address the elephant in the room? I mean, it's a great song but the way it's mixed is ridiculous. The auto-tune they are using on the vocals is off the charts. In the chorus it even malfunctions like it did in "life after love - Cher". I just wonder why they didn't try and level it out or something instead of boosting it.

They both have never been able to sing well, ever. This is fine. The fans love it anyway. I’m glad they’re making songs, I don’t care if it all sounds like Cher gargling on some balls or whatever. Get it in me. Blink 4 lyfe.

Justin, Blink 182 released albums in 2016 and 2019 without Tom Delonge. 2012 was the last time Tom was in a Blink 182 record. Matt Skiba (of Alkaline Trio fame) was part of Blink 182 for this time.

The vocals sound like an actual literal robot. They compressed it to hell and back and shoved it through auto-tune. What a disaster.
