Absolutely everything u said every point u made is what I've been saying for 20 years, Btw still no one can imitate his style. Also you have to give credit where it's due.Tom has evolved so much on the guitar, and if I might add..... Blink was, and always will be a punk band. Just because they blew up into the mainstream world doesn't mean the music changed and just because their choruses are catchy doesn't disqualified them from being punk. The reason why I'm emphasizing so much on this is because punk rockers don't have to have the best voices look at Rancid look at the dropkick Murphys. Us punk rockers are just supposed to be able to play an instrument and carry a tune. A sloppy as tom can get live that's what makes him who he is and that's what makes blink-182 complete 😭

Love the fact that they were always just only three on stage, no matter if any song was overproduced at studio they would play it raw and imperfect live. No touring/guest musicians. Awesome.
@Alex-ABPerson2 жыл бұрын
Yeah but an unfortunate side-effect of that is they're _always_ playing to a backing track, to fill in the instruments they're missing. For example, in After Midnight, you can tell they have the second guitar playing back behind Tom's. So it's not exactly "raw"-er, it's just less impressive than if they had touring musicians, unfortunately
@trialacccount2 жыл бұрын
@@Alex-ABPerson You are exactly right that After Midnight (great song) can't be played on one guitar, but Tom uses a loop pedal to add the other guitar parts in, so fortunately it actually isn't overproduced live.

@@trialacccount Ah fair enough on that matter, that's an idea I didn't think of actually! But they are still using backing tracks for lots of instrumentation - and from 2013 onwards they even slid Tom's studio vocals onto the backing tracks to I assume try and create a "doubling" effect

There's certain cues looking to their left that you can clearly see, but having said that whatever you say about blink they are such pros they didn't let it affect the show. You have to understand Blink 182 by far this might not be there best performance but they an Icon they are a brand they speak volumes to many people who were teenangers and people in their early 20's as most people who are in their 30's & 40's today listened to Blink so what if they don't have an epic performance it still was good enough

*Tom Delonge* might be one of the best examples of someone who never wanted to grow up and somehow made it work. 👍 This performance sounded amazing but you can really tell all he just wanted to do with this was have fun.. He started to really change his voice in so many different ways/switch up the wording you can tell it was wearing at him. Playing these same song's the exact way for 10+ Year's over and over wasn't on his agenda. Which perfectly explains Ava and why he has tried to reinvent himself.

How does struggling to sing correlate with "reinventing" himself? There are no good A&A songs and only 2 good Boxcar Racer songs
@eyo87664 жыл бұрын
He does sing better in AvA nowadays... Especially in the KRQQ back in 2019... You may disagree but he really does sound like he did reinvent himself...

I think I can safely say this is in their top 3 for "late" performances with Tom. Phenomenal production, the instrumentation sounds superb. Mark sounds as good as ever, and Tom (despite not pronouncing words correctly) is hitting his pitches well and is adding that raspy Tom inflection that Blink needs to sound like Blink. It's definitely one of their better performances and really shows how much better Tom is for their sound over Matt.

Love how Tom always complained how difficult the intro to "what's my age again" yet now he plays it effortlessly since he doesn't have his guitar round his ankles. lol
@MrAJC52 жыл бұрын
For all the people saying things about the vocals..Y'all ever try playing intricate guitar/bass riffs at 160 bpm while running around a huge stage in front of thousands of people while simultaneously concentrating on the pitch of the words you're singing? Yeah didn't think so. Shit is hard.
