I still remember the first time I ever heard Alkaline Trio, it was fucking amazing. Alkaline Trio had the opening song on the first Atticus: Dragging the Lake compilation, and the closing track on Atticus 2. I got both of them in 2003 when the second one came out, and the first song i ever heard was the BBC version of 'Crawl' that's on Atticus 2, and as soon as the part came where Matt sings the backup "CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWLLLLLLLLLLLL THEEEEEEEEEEEERRRREEE" in that bad ass voice, i fell in love with him as a musician. Did you know that Tom Delonge actually rewrote songs on the self titled album because he was inspired by Matt Skiba? He talked about it in the warped tour 2004 interview. I feel like one day it would be cool to have Tom and Matt on a song together. And maybe a song with all of alkaline trio and mark tom and travis

I dont understand how people come to the conclusion that it was their best album. I personally was a huge ass Blink 182 fan but haven't listened to the self titled album more than 10 times in my life because I always skip song after song after song until "easy target" comes; then I skip to the end. I didnt like the vibe at all and was hugely disappointed after listening to it the first times because it was simply boring. There was no energy, speed etc. My personal favorites are Dude ranch and cheshire cat though, so yeah, our music styles may be pretty different. Same with The Offspring: I absolutely love ignition, smash and Ixnay on the hombre. The rest just got "boring". NOFX has the style that suits me most though, never gets boring and always makes me headbang, smile and shout/sing along AND they are still writing and touring like in the good old days without changing their style, which makes it even more remarkable that they dont get boring to listen to.

I am 3 minutes into this and the goofy, back and forth, impulsive humor that Tom & Mark had is obviously not there. I felt that was one of, if not the main ingredient of Blink's music and "aura". Well maybe this is the grown up verison of Blink. I can see after an album or two that weren't that great if Tom was invited back to join.

I agree. Blink were the pioneers of the genre, and now they are so much more generic than a lot of newer bands in the scene. I know they did not spent every day of the last 5 years on this album - but it has still been FIVE YEARS, and I feel they could have made something better. It feels super halfassed. Skiba is great though, glad he joined.

Yes... and there is a big reason... its simple... I like blink songs written by Tom and Mark. Tom was my favourite songwriter of Blink but mark style of writing was also very good. If a Blink album is written by Mark, Skiba and Feldmann then its a big change xDD And I dont like Feldmann style of writing songs... at least not for Blink... He can write good songs for kids like 5 seconds of summer or Hillary duff or All time low and much more... but Blink was a legendary band, not a rookie band... Now Tom is not a member of blink, ok, I can accept it, they cant make music togheter like old good times, but Mark and Skiba are professional musicians, they dont need a guy writing songs for them, they are not Selena gomez or ashley simpson... A mix of Plus 44, old school Blink style and Alkaline trio would have been good for me... And sure it would sound really good...
