It took an hour for me to get the blink to latch onto the mount, I had to finally add spacers to the mounting plate to get it further from the angle mount to enable me to get the blink to lock on.

This was very helpful. I could not figure out how to get the mechanical chimes work, the chimes would only make a thud sound. I thought maybe I'd need a diode or resister to make it work. I moved the door from my external sync module to my internal sync module so I could use the mini cam as a chime. Now that I have it working, I can move it back to the external sync module. Thanks!!

Thank you! We spent WAY too much time trying to get a non hard wired chime to pair with our Blink Camera doorbell. It was you instructions to go to the Blink app and enable the chime that allowed us to finally successfully pair them We had to follow instructions as if we were hard wiring (our transmitter is actually battery powered) to get the option to choose digital or analog type chime and finally truly have them pair. Why doesn't Blink make a simple indoor chime for these things? (We can't have a Dot or Alexa in our vacation rental or privacy reasons.)

First off, it runs on batteries. The Blink Video Doorbell does not get power from the door chime connection. Secondly, if your Blink Video Doorbell says Connection Failed, I suggest you move the doorbell closer to your wireless router and see if you can get a connection that way. Even have it right next to the router. If it still says Connection Failed then perform a factory reset and start the configuration over again. Let me know how it goes.

Yes you do. The wiring is ONLY for the door chime. It does NOT power the camera.

You can physically unscrew the Blink and disconnect the wires OR you can go into the app and change where you set it to mechanical. There is no way to schedule this change to happen each night. They have it always chime whether Blink is armed or not.

@@FieldGuidetoDIYi called Blink and the person took me through the steps on my Blink app and go to the Blink Doorbell Settings and there you can scroll down to see Doorbell and Chime Settings and there it is -- Chime Length and it was on 1 second and i took it up to 3 seconds and it works perfectly. My problem was that i had only tried the Blink "Settings" at the bottom of the App and you have to go to the Doorbell setting which is those three lines on the top right of the Blink Outdoor Cameras home page. I could not find that online, but the lady who was helping me did a great job.

I haven’t researched it a lot but in the app you either use manual or Bluetooth. You cannot use both concurrently. Now I know of some ADA doorbells which can use the same wiring as a manual chime. What are you looking for?

Ger Lee, not that I’m aware of. I’m looking into security control panels like Apple Homekit that work with Blink but have not landed on one. At this point without a home door chime, the app appears to be the only way to hear the doorbell other thank the Blink Video Doorbell.

@@662spalmer you can keep the others with motion detection enabled and only disable motion detection on the Blink Video Doorbell camera. But, again, I don’t think you want that either. That would eliminate your ability to catch anything going on at your front door unless they rang the doorbell. You may have to go the route of installing a doorbell or just deal with it. I believe you can set different tones for motion detection vs doorbell ring. Keep me posted.

Your app may be due for an update. Go to iPhone Settings and scroll down to all the apps. Look at the Blink version. I’m up-to-date running 6.7.0 (12379). Let me know if this helps.

That is a great question Edwin. The wires only power the button connection to the door chime. You still need batteries to power the doorbell button and the wireless camera. I hope this helps.

I would take it completely off and test to see if you can get it to ring and record video. While it is off, return power to the wires and cross the wires as shown in the video to test the bell. That way you can isolate if it is the chime or the video doorbell. Let me know if that helps.

Hi, I cannot make it work with my existing wired doorbell chime. When I cross both wires, the chime rings just fine, but after connecting the wires to the blink doorbell and setting it up on the app along with the chime settings, still does not work. I have tried selecting mechanical or digital and still does not work. Could it be the transformer is not compatible? I have a Commax wired doorbell which does not have a separate transformer I can switch. Thanks for your help!
