US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to Riyadh comes nearly seven months after the eruption of war in Gaza put the brakes on what was could have been America's biggest foreign policy achievement of the century. Blinken says the United States is close to finishing a security pact with Saudi Arabia that would be offered if it makes peace with Israel. But will Saudi Arabia take the bait? I don't think its that tricky. If Hamas refuses this proposal (which they are very likely to) then Israel gets the excuse of invading Rafah. They'd be like "hey! you refused the peace deal, you chose this!" to put the onus on Hamas. If Hamas does accept then it means safe return of remaining hostages, and Israeli people will be happy. Either way, Netanyahu will go his own way.
