Blinken urges China to end support for Russia's war in Ukraine

Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Chinese President Xi Jinping Friday in an effort to stabilize relations between the U.S. and China. While speaking in Beijing earlier, Blinken urged China to end its support for Russia's war in Ukraine. CBS News national security reporter Olivia Gazis has more.

@amunra and the US is the only country that tries to use leverage to bring about policy favorable to them? China is facilitating Russia’s immoral war in Ukraine. If china wants to aid Putin, a threat to America’s interests then we should use economic leverage to make the cost of helping Russia greater than the benefit to china. If china would stop supporting russias war efforts then the war in Ukraine would come to a conclusion sooner without Ukraine losing its sovereignty .

Ukraine also buys Chinese commercial drones and critical components to use in the war. The thing is China doesn’t sell weapons to any side but will continue a normal commercial relationship with both Ukraine and Russia. As for how the two countries choose to do with what they buy, that’s not something that China takes a side on. It’s not China’s war. If Russia has not asked China to stop selling commercial critical components to Ukraine, what right does US have to ask China stop selling commercial components to Russia? That’s a side China doesn’t take.
