What stuck out about Virgil’s Louis Vuitton is the accessories no one made accessories like Virgil so it would have to be someone who is AMAZING with making creative and eye catching accessories that are also art pieces

If we're seriously talking LV Mens, I think that if they want someone who is going to take the brand and be very similar to what Virgil was doing aesthetics wise, itr'd be smart to promote internally. BUT if they want someone new, with a vision, and hopefully to elevate more of the clothes side of the brand, I think the choice is clear: Martine Rose. Serious other contenders are: Kirby Jean Raymond, Grace Wales Bonner, or Telfar Clemens but I selfishly want Kirby and Telfar to focus on their own brands.

I don’t think Virgil’s replacement has to be black or a person of colour… unless it’s organic. I also don’t want want a young black designer to have to deal with the constant pressure of being compared to Virgil.

i thought samuel ross would be mentioned due to their mentor mentee relationship. his aesthetic isn't as "playful" as virgil but i think he'd at least be a good consultant for whoever takes the role. it would be cool if tyler or some young less known designer had the role to bring that playfulness and sam helped by giving design insight

I hate how I don't remember getting into fashion because I only remember being EIGHT YEARS OLD looking through the ALexander McQueen website. Why does an 8 year old know what alexander mcqueen is, im not sure. I think it's a passion i was born with, a gift since i always remember clothes from my childhood. Im now about to turn 17 and the obsession is still there.

I really admire Tyler’s style but I don’t think he would be the best fit for LV. I think what he’s doing with his own fashion brand is great but the only critique I’ve really ever had for him is that his releases are very niche. Meaning that, though this may sound oxymoronic, the only people I really see wearing his clothes are the most dedicated fans of his. Whereas with something like Yeezys, you see a much larger range of people from those who are the most dedicated Kanye fans to those who just have a passing knowledge of him. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to appeal to a certain demographic but I feel what distinguished Virgil was how brilliant he was when it came to marketing his products to a larger audience. I’m not saying Kanye’s a better fit either but just a thought.

So I am from India and the culture of having fashion director for brands that are running over several decades is not a thing here. I am studing fashion at national college. As I compare my situation to that of western world, things aren't that advance. So my question is how do this Fashion Director thing work there? What is the process? Do they graduate, make their own brands, get spotted on and than become ceo of other bigger brands? It's reallt tough to understand the background of such things. If you could make a video on their journeys and how things work in these big fashion cities. It will be really helpful for students like us to get an insite.

I think it's a real miss to think that Virgil's replacement has to be a person of color or a singular person. The best person that can execute the vision and direction of LV Men's should be hired. Issey miyake used a chemical proces to create the pleats that u can wash and always come back .. an excaple of chemicals in fashion 😁 the guy who invented this proces used his understanding in chemistries to make designer drugs after his invention and went to jail for many years a Belgian guy who I met one time

Right now it would seem like its rappers and people who admire and want to emulate rappers and people who look for a decadent streetwear style. I'd say the most recognizable designs I see people actually wearing right now is Fear of God stuff so Jerry Lorenzo seems like someone that would continue the legacy of Virgil while also bringing their own distinct style to LV.
