Blistering, dangerous heatwave blankets Southern California

An extreme heatwave blanketing Southern California this week has prompted warnings as officials advise residents to seek shelter, stay hydrated and head to the nearest cooling center if needed. The dry weather and high temps have also created dangerous conditions for wildfires to ignite and quickly grow.

I was born and raised in California. It is all desert . All the way from Oregon to San Diego. Yes we get most of the water source from out of state. Even with all the rain we have had, it is not enough to sustain all the people who have come to California. We actually have great weather but we pay a high price. That is why there has been a record number of people moving to other states. They will try to make whatever state they move to just like Cali. Except they won't be able to change the weather. Only God can do that. God created the planet only he can destroy it. We (man kind) can destroy all living things on the planet. So we can't change the weather or destroy the planet only ourselves.

yep,, i hear you. i lived in la 5 yrs, and saw alot of the state. and Yes God is in control,, we can't change things that are happening. we depend on Him. if your still there,, Hang in there, i am in NH and getting physically ill,,, we are 102 in the shade,,, i put thermometer in the sun and it went OVER 120. We are not acclimated to this!,,, and i am older now. i have friends there i follow this closely, it also seems like they have had tons of rain,,, but don't have a catchment system. All that rain in San Diego was a blessing from God. Walk in peace, God is with His Children

I live in CA and the man is right. The only reason why we don't look more like a dessert is because we most of our water is irrigated in. This is SUMMER!

California is not a desert. California is diverse. California's central valley produces huge amounts of produce. California sells over $7 billion dollars worth of produce to Japan alone. Northern California has plenty of water, they have an aqueduct along interstate 5 that brings water all the way down to Bakersfield. Southern California used to be full of orange, avocado, peaches and other produce. But the realtors made more money off of selling tract homes than fruit trees so they got over populated. All of the people in Southern California use more water than the fruit trees did. All of the high paying jobs are in Southern California but the water is up north.. we need to build more homes up North where the water is. Humboldt area is beautiful. The center of California is just a little bit east of Coalinga. There's alot more to California than you think. There is alot more forests than desert in California.

It would be a really good time now to have those 3 Nuclear Power Plants in So. Cal, also all of the natural gas fired power plants that they have turned off and scraped off the earth. I guess we will see how the grid handles this heat wave in 5 states.
