The number one cause of turbo failure is oil "coking". Oil "coking" occurs when a turbocharger is not properly cooled down and the oil that normally lubricates the center cartridge heats up and forms solidified oil deposit.A turbo timer allows an engine to idle for a preset time after the ignition key has been turned off position and removed. By allowing a turbocharged engine to idle, oil continues to pass through the turbo until it has cooled down to the point where oil "coking" will not occur.

You don't need a turbo timer if you don't have a turbo. It cools the turbo prop down at idle speed after pushing boost- so if you don't push much boost for a few minutes before turning your car off, you can do the same thing the turbo timer does.

Hey fastcarkid24. It does 3 things 1. speed of turbo comes down ( blades spin slower) 2. lube turbo bearing 3. reduce heat in the turbo i will mention all 3 in my explenation A turbo timer is prettty neat on a turbo car. Imagine you later for work/ an apointment ext. You dont want to still sit and idle the car for 2 minutes.

@Speudo87 : by now im sure you have it figured out, but for anyone that doesnt know... im not sure exactly how to do reset it to work, but i know after a few starts/stops of the engine it will work again. after a day of driving around, the timer just started working again... i have no idea, but i know what you mean about having it feel like it broken, but it will/does still work if you unplug the battery or do whatever.. just give it time to work again.

it shuts down ur car according to the set time. mostly ppl juz turn off their cars after a long drive which is not the proper way to shut down. so with this, u can simply exit the car while it shuts down automatically after the amount of time u've selected. try google 'turbo timer' and read about it..
