Gora hahahahahaha. Actually it looked like she was very confused about how she lost, and it seemed like after touching the rook she realized she needed to move her king...maybe she was thinking "did he see me touch the rook?" :-D From the shadows and her arm movement it seems like she put her hand near her head twice, and no doubt she did some weird eyelid movements while tilting her head. Then she seems to realize she got fingered and paused the clock, he started to put his hand and then it seems like he gave up on the handshake, probably because she wasn't making eye contact. Anyway, what's with the resin on the home-made board?

+BoysOfJokes I have too. My point was just that some GMs are literally only slow GMs. By that I mean they can play perfect, but are more calculated in that it takes longer to get to that perfect move. This is time that just is not present in blitz. For example, Tal would probably be a great blitz player due to a more tactical and less calculating play while a master like Karpov may not be as good (not bad, but still not as good) due to a more calculated style.
@ralphschraven339
@ralphschraven339 7 жыл бұрын
+Alex Bohn I understand your conjecture, but in practice this is simply not how things work. At a high level, there is barely such a thing as a "style", since all players play so well that they rarely make large mistakes. Their average centipawn loss is simply very, very low. So even though Tal is indeed known for his great tactical power, his tactical capabilities will only be marginally different (perhaps better) than, say, Karpov's. The same is true for any aspect of any skill performed at the highest level. Look up any super-GM and see if any of their active fast time control ratings are classes apart from their classical rating. I doubt you'll find any such example. Sure, there are indeed individual differences, but they will be only a couple hundred points at the very most. Feel free to visit ratings.fide.com/top.phtml and look for any counterexample; I have been unable to find a larger elo difference than 100 between the highest and lowest FIDE rating of any top 100 player.

I like it when the winner plays all the moves you predict. This makes me feel like I have a future in chess and that I will advanced beyond my current strong ~1500. I say strong because in the openings I am familiar with (french Sicilian, karo kann, scotch, London system, nimzo indian, queens gambit) I am a lot more deadly. I guess I should start learning other openings to maybe get another 100 elo. Is it too early or should I continue honing my middle game. I usually play pretty well in the end game. I win won positions and draw drawn ones.

I ran this game on a VERY STRONG Chess engine and it said Black made the "Best Move" 54.9% of the time and had an amazing CAPS of 93.28. In retrospect, I am an ELO 1250 player and my average CAPS per game is about 30-40. Whereas White, the WGM, made the "Best Move" 52.0% of the time and had a CAPS of 88.28. They are both definitely 2000+ ELO players. The engine can attest to that. PS: This was a Blitz game, played under the pressure of time. If they had an hour or so on the timer, the CAPS would only go up!

@briansheldon6804

By queen side castling, black opens up an attack on the d4 pawn. If white takes g5, black wins a very important pawn. Thus, white plays c3 to defend d4.

Both of them made many unacceptable mistakes, even it's a blitz game, which made the game unsatisfied. I can point out about 20 best move they missed, which if it's played correctly, is winning moves, or even killer moves. Note that they're not hard to find, even under time trouble. And playing it is like a routine, especially in Scandinavian Defense, an opening which doesn't have many common lines and variations,....

I don't see what you mean. I assume you want to move your Bishop as to make room on g2 for the queen. However, this does not work - after Bf3 or Be4, it is still in the way of the queen and would be captured anyway. After Bxh3 white simply plays NxB. After Bf1 white replys Qxf1. Finally, Bh1 fails to f3 when the Bishop has lost communication with the queen and will be captured. If I missed something, please let me know, but I don't see the mate.

I think you're right. Black could get an advantage that way.
@alexbohn7462
@alexbohn7462 7 жыл бұрын
Do you mean at 1:15? At 1:42 black's bishop is attacked on g4 so Qxc3, hxB would give white a piece for a pawn. However if you mean Qxc3 instead of Bg4, then after Bf4, Qa5 (protecting c7) white may be able to claim the dynamic advantage of a lead in development in exchange for black's concrete advantage of a pawn. It's a rather good pawn sacrifice in my opinion as white is castled and developed while black's bishops are still sitting on the back rank with his king in the centre, and on top of that, it would be White's move after Qa5 holding on to his one pawn plus on c7. The idea is definitely an interesting one, and after all, isn't chess really just a battle of ideas? I hope I satisfactorily answered your question. Respond if I need to explain more! :)

Bullshit 2379 player....i have played and beaten many players of that rating many times and i don't study chess seriously and i can tell that this guy is NOT 2379 RATED. THE WOMAN played well but she was defending most of the time rather than attacking....that's why she lost the game in the end.

I don't know either maybe it has to do with future positioning rather than a pawn advantage. The minds of Grand masters remain a mystery to a chess noob like me.

It is because after Bxg5(the pawn I assume you are referring to) then black can play Rg6, kicking the bishop. after the bishop has to move, then black can take the pawn with check, and black has eliminated his doubled pawn and white's king is not safe.

This is also why after she played f4, which prevents black from recapturing the pawn and with no compensation. so after she played f4, black protected the pawn with Rg6

Yeah, WGM is 2300 and IM is 2400. What's funny about it? IM is a higher title, obviously.

Doc Apollo Is funny that the GRAND MASTER tittle of women is less than the INTERNATIONAL MASTER of men do you get it or I have to explain it to you?
@izzya8132
@izzya8132 7 жыл бұрын
IM isn't a male title, it is an open title. WGM isn't a Grandmaster title, it's just called WGM. To be grandmasters, women also need 2500, they don't become grandmasters earlier. IM is at 2400, so it's obviously higher than WGM. For instance, IM Anna Rudolf is a WGM, but IM is her highest title, so she goes by IM. So no, I don't get what's funny. Can you explain?

Not always because many are IM and the top 11 are all GM....in fact the top 64 are IM.
