this is one of my favorite videos. information is nothing without context... and the history and context are provided. i've watched countless videos on marketing, entrepreneurship, startups, scaling and all that other good stuff.... this is one of the best hands down. Great stuff Michael Dearing!

Indeed, Michael is amazing and his interaction with the new minds, such as the audience here, is humbling genius.

I’m a junior and I’ve read schumpeter but man I’ve never had a professor even make reference towards capitalism socialism and democracy. What a change in this worlds politics we would see if students were taught this work and they understood the consequences of the work.

Schumpeter is one of the best economists of all time. He was a defender of capitalism like no other and his work is so brilliant that often gets misrepresented by socialists who don’t understand the deep point he makes in his many works.

I'm glad I watched this video (watched 5-10 minutes at a time over a few days) if only to internalize the concept of Creative Destruction. It is something I inherently felt all my life and finally found a word to describe. Amazing lecture. Totally helps that Michael resembles Jerry Garcia.

Need to see the Jerry Garcia context here, but I think you will enjoy much the book Power Makers.

On SAFEs, what’s up with the strong criticism but weak argument? I can only imagine that they were such a new instrument at the time that he didn’t really understand the idea? Curious what his current thinking is...

I watched this like whoa, capitalism can fix slavery And then three hours later I was like wait, did he really just try to convince me that people seeking profit and money wasn't the exact motivator of the people who purchased, sold, and trafficked those slaves?

So far the worst lecture of the course - poorly worded vague ideas (if any) and too generic insights/advice. Except awesome story of a train innovator guy - what's the value of this lecture? Thanks for sharing and for awesome job organizing this thing anyway

I disagree - it’s more that he is outlining quite complex ideas which and there is a certain lack of structure or supporting materials to make what he is saying clear. There’s a lot in there though.
