Yeah I hate the oh but they were transparent line, if you think that absolves them they got you, they won. They tricked you. Transparency is good for intentions and future design goals, but a failure of a company is a failure. The issue is just that healing is trash in general, bring the extremely slow paced early bfa peak healing experience. Nobody want to heal anyone that jump up and down by 80% every global, no matter if its a tank or dps. Pulsing damage events with nearly zero tank damage, during which dps are 1 gcd away from dying aren't particularly fun either. If healing was slow paced and gave you enough time to react to damage i wouldn't mind healing the tank. And remove all the millions of defensive that will actually give agency to healers not relying on peanut dps brain to know how to use defensives as healing checks are balanced around them.

I think they can make healing better if they continue to lessen required interrupts. The damage from packs varies too much between a group that gets every interrupt and those who don't stun/kick everything. This means the regular healing must remain lower as to not just destroy a lot of groups. I can heal 2-3x more in a 7 with bad interrupts compared to a 10 where people are on point. Healing will be more interesting if the numbers are more stable and you can play around the encounter. Imagine a world where they can better design groups when they don't have a higher swing in numbers based on the group. I like the direction with longer casts and better telegraphed mechanics. If you miss those interrupts you should be punished.
@Keira-irl14 сағат бұрын
Group quality makes a very big difference in healing right now, and the design philosophy that damage intake is controlled as a group (interrupts, defensives, etc.) and not by a healer, means that the difference between a +++ group in +10 and a + group in +7 is astronomical in terms of healing requirements. What I find most frustrating about healing right now is that I have very little control over how much I will have to heal, and the same pull on the same key level in one group might require nothing more than my passive cleave/procs, and in another group it might require every single one of my cooldowns and cause me to age 5 years. Ironically, the higher I push on my pug healer and the more I get access to +++ groups, the easier it is on me. So in a sense, the challenging part of healing is not in keys where the unavoidable damage starts to matter and you start to do riskier and bigger pulls to +++ (ie. the content that is meant to be hard), but rather in keys where avoidable damage is poorly controlled. I don't think that inverse difficulty is a good thing to have for healers, and the difference between the two is way too much. I definitely agree that healing would be more interesting, but also more enticing to newer healers (which is good for the LFG economy), if that variance wasn't so big.
@MastervisКүн бұрын
Healing Galvazzt was difficult, but fair. Unavoidable damage ticks happened every 3 seconds or so doing about 25% HPdamage in a +24. Right now some unavoidable damage does more than 100% percent of someone's HP within the same interval. I can imagine that this would also add to the frustration many healers feel at the moment

57:45 On this subject. Me being a classic andy coming in and wanting to try retail because the raids looks banger I really had a hard experience: - Leveling didn't teach me much about my class along the way. Everytime I got used to something the game threw a new ability and three new talents at me to mix things up (might just be a me issue though) - Dungeons while leveling just felt like a rush to the finish line. Basically just mashing AoE and running. - At max level I jumped into normals to learn my rotation and buttons but enemies just fell over like when leveling (might be because it's still dungeons for people leveling). - Heroics didn't feel better and I barely got to see mechanics. In fact as a tank I didn't even feel like I was needed as people just pulled packs and tanked dmg fine without me. - I didn't even know how to get into Mythics at this point and decide to jump into Raid Finder with 29 other players and shit just dies and loot comes out. - I get the about the same feeling about the Normal difficulty in Raids. Shit just dies. Although I did get to do some mechanics here which was fun! In Starcraft 2 there was a term called "ladder anxiety". Basically the reason you never climbed the ladder was because you never pushed the button to join a game. The fear of making a blunder and getting stomped by your opponent was just making you so anxious that you just procrastinated playing the game entirely. I get the same feeling in retail wow and I think the reason for that is that I simply don't feel confident in my abilities as I haven't learned anything during leveling/dungeoneering and raiding this far. I wish the difficulty could be tuned up a notch so that shit didn't just fall over. So that I could actually get to tank in Heroics before stepping into Mythics and Raids. That I could get punished for mistakes whenever I made them so I would learn from them and feel more confident in my abilities.

On tanking: as a healer, I dont like tanks being indestructible. People in the party shouldn't be able to do a run without a healer, because healers can't do the run without other roles. If you have a healer as a role, they should have a purpose. Good tanks should be able to survive noticeably longer than a bad one. I appreciate it being a tricky line to balance, but a big part of the issue is everyone's defensive power and spiky damage intake. No one should be able to be 1-hit unless they do something really wrong. Dps defensives should never be so plentiful that you can preplan all your damage intakes. It should occasionally be used to save your life.

Whereas if you start low and tune up you only had the people who liked it playing it and then everyone is like "YOOOO A BUFF YESSSS THEY ARE LISTENING!!!!"

I think introducing a "practice mode" would take away from the social glue of a raiding guild that is figuring out the mechanics together. Sometimes that can be frustrating or annoying, but that's part of the process. I think it's ok sometimes for Blizzard to engineer tailored experiences.

I main Tank and I don't mind doing lower damage as long as I can keep aggro and stay alive that is my 2 primary jobs as a Tank we don't need to be over taking Dps or it makes no sense Tanks were never that way and I have played since Vanilla.

As someone who has played a large amount of classic and retail. More of a retail player now. There are a lot of retail players who actively shit on and hate classic. Its the same problem both ways. Retail players are absolutely not above classic players in regards to civility about other games lmao.

47:45 QA is NOT a low "level" position, it's a low PAY position. All game workers are exploited, QA just happens to be some of the MOST exploited. Good QA is near impossible to find, just as other development disciplines. Don't help propagate more division and hardship for QA workers with this kind of talk.

Sod is not extremely dead. That is another brain dead out of touch take from Max who has no idea what he's talking about. Sod has a brand new dungeon and it's insanely good. Just because it's not only fangs or hardcore, doesn't mean it's dead.

Max really doesn't know how arpgs cycles work. GGG's wanted people to jump between poe1 and poe2 leagues as there is typically massive drop off after a few weeks rather than turn into only playing poe2. GGG leadership massively underestimated what they needed and yeah GGG definitely has to be massively hiring/trying to scale up in whatever way possible

Hardcore BDK main here, i love when all tanks can be self sustaining because its really fun to solo tank a kurog heroic style fight for fun

Here's an example. Hpal keeps getting nerfed because of overperforming in raids. Meanwhile in M+ the throughput feels significantly worse.

Personally they still havent changed what would make me come back next season hopefully they will do more They still only drop hero track outside of weekly vault which makes gear progresion bad. No one finds it fun to only gear through hoping you get the right vault every week. You still feel behind if you dont mythic raid which is a full time job and just fucking silly to expect anyone to do i get max is in this podcast but mythic raid is the absolute worst thing in wow and trying to force it to have extra good gear is making everything else worse Or sorry you can also rmt a few crafted items...
@MrCkv3Күн бұрын
just curious, if mythic+ could drop farmable mythic loot, wouldn't you just feel even more behind compared to those who grind m+ for full mythic gear say w1 of a season? Or do you mean it should drop time-gated mythic gear, kind of like how the vault functions now but more than a single piece every week?
@myersmayhem2023Күн бұрын
@@MrCkv3 Not even a little If i dont play for two weeks right now im behind two vaults with no other way to compensate If i could farm the highest teir loot i might fall behind for a bit if i take a break but i can just play to catch up im not gated on a weekly rng vault Same with alts are alwyas just behind however many vaults the missed you cant make that up I think that gear shouldnt be locked behind time If i can play 20 hours this week and none mext week i shouldnt be forever a week behind because of a vault i should be able to just pick up where i left off and run more keys for the highest gear track
@AggrofoolКүн бұрын
Blizzard did this because the hardcore blazed through gearing in DF, then complained there was no incentive to keep playing. Also raiders were madge they had to spam M+ for gearing as raid requirement.

Dratnos "one of the problems with capitalism is it incentivizes short term investement". No it doesn't, if anything that's the opposite of what it's intentionally doing - I make product you pay me for product/what it's worth. If it's constantly short changing people then another will come along to take it's place. Corporatism is what you meant to say which is extracting as much value out of customers at all times which is what is crippling capitalism right now as they use regulatory restrictions by creating new laws that only benefit big companies forcing little ones to be unable to compete.

They could easily show the bosses at least before raid. We have a campaign right? Why don't we see the bosses on the campaign and do their mechanics without getting nuked? So we can say most people saw at least once what this boss does. It would also make the season campaign more coherent and less braindead. Of course they would need to make it phased or a mini instance otherwise you know how wow day 1 questing is: tab target everything before they die.
