He's meant to counter warriors and bruisers, who are mainly melee or extremely short ranged. So they tend to cluster on objectives or on targets. Anyways his wrath strike helps in move through the battle and tormented souls is a reliable way to apply your mark for your soul rip healing, letting him sustain the fight.

hmmin my opinion tormented soul would be a better ability just imagine he can spam Q deal much more dmg in a team combat if last rites you can only deal dmg to 1 unit and it's just weak if you can't deal any dmg or they've a heal supp tormented soul cangive malthael be more useful in a team combat and increased his survival ability in a higher level

No need to worry. Once his basic attack has been made into a splash, damaging multiple targets at once, he's become amazing. And clearing the camps is also much easier now too! He has many options and it depends on the player how they're going to use them.

MinuracOne He lools boring tbh. Cool character to be sure. But his gameplay style is all percentage based DoTs. Basically a really lame auto-attacker. Not fun at all. He is going to struggle to kill anybody before they kill him 1v1. His value will be applying DoTs then rotating out in fights and if your against anyone who can shield, which cancels DoTs, he is useless. Just no impactful abilities.

He is similar to Necrophos in Dota, you don't particularly want to focus him because he doesn't do huge burst damage without his ult and can be deceptively tanky from his heals, but at the same time if you ignore him the damage he deals in a prolonged fight can really stack up. And how is he going to struggle 1v1 when he has what appears to be a super short cd heal from marks? Don't forget that the mark is just his passive, he still does regular auto attack damage on top of that.

michaelman90​ Yeah, but his base AA damage is so low and his heals aren't strong enough to keep him up. The are more for sustain. Making him slightly more useful at staying in lane against another hero.

His heal only has a 2 second CD. That means you'll be using it several times in a teamfight, and it makes his dual potential pretty great as well. If you walk into the enemy outnumbered, then yeah, the heals won't save you, but if you play smartly, they should keep you alive, especially if your diligent in marking multiple heroes at the same time. I haven't played Dota 2 enough to know how Necrophos works, but for those who played League, his playstyle reminds me a lot of Vladimir, where he doesn't do that much up front damage, but ignore him in teamfights for too long and he will completely shred entire teams and come out alive due to reasonable self heals.

It's great, because it's visible. I wanna know if I have a goddamn Reaper's Mark on me, and when I play as Malthael, I wanna know every one who has it. Putting it above heads would block view. I like this. It's visible, it's simple, it's actually looking pretty decent.

I love Malthael. By far my most favorite melee hero in the assassin class (Li Ming being mage/ranged assassin class). I'm a warrior main as well. I play more support and specialist than assassin but since he came out, I've been playing him a lot!
