Hey Kev, When can we expect the rest of the tutorials in this new series? Really want to learn blockbench by making goodlooking and Usable assets like that sign post and that character you showed untextured.. Please do not stop this new series! EDIT: may I also suggest making a new playlist folder on the artsbykev channel, like you did on the morebykev channel. And lastly.. Blockbench is not only used in minecraft, others are also using it to make models ready for when Hytale comes and others (like myself) will use blockbench for our indie game projects. Would you be willing to take this into account for when you are teaching us blockbench modeling, like how to handle animation, How to make certain pixels in your textures glow, how to create different pixel-art textures for the same model, and maybe some tip and tricks on having a good workflow, fixing texturing/uv wrap problems and importing images in other texturing tools (Gimp/Photoshop/Aseprite) to make them ready to import into rendering tools (Blender) or game engines, just to show them off with visual effects/lighting.
@MoreByKev Жыл бұрын
I aim to cover all if not as much of it as possible. I also use Blockbench for other game engines! Were meant to get them out earlier. As parenting goes, I fell ill a few days ago and have been busy with my son since my wife was sick the week before that. Any particular part you are extra anxious to get to know?
@Biepz69 Жыл бұрын
@@MoreByKev I think there are 3 parts/subjects that are not commonly mentioned or taught that I would love to learn myself. This includes the things I mentioned above of course. 1: Manipulating objects/cubes. Let's say you made one side of a sword and they have angled cubes in the handle. Now you want the other side to be a mirror of this. How would we achieve this. How can we get the same angles in other direction without messing up the angle. 2: Texturing. This is my biggest issue with blockbench, I have a bit of trouble "wrapping" my head around it XD. You have to select texture size when creating your first project, and again when you make your first texture file. Do they have to be the same? What if you want some parts of your model to be lower size (16x16) while bigger parts in a higher size (32x32) can that be done? How?.. And finally.. what if you made a model (and you chose 32x32 at the beginning of the project) and you decide you want a lower (or higher) texture size. Can you just wrap up a bigger size around the same model or do you have to do some editing to your model? 3: The most important thing to learn if using blockbench for other things then minecraft is to extend the workflow outside of blockbench. How does this work? For example using another tool like Aseprite to do your texturing, can this be done and do you see the changes live in blockbench? If you are using your model to be imported into an game engine (Unity, Godot etc.) What do you need to know, to get it working with both textures and animations. And how would you be able to make parts of your model glow (like eyes or parts of your weapon). As far as I know you cannot select pixels in your texture to make it glow in Godot or Blockbench. So basically.. For new people (including me) having someone that can teach us the workflow to create models (and manipulate it with rotation, extruding, custom shapes), textures and animation to be imported into a game engine would be VERY important and incredibly useful. I just dived into game development. have purchased numerous courses to teach Godot, GDScripting, Music/sound creation, Blender and Pixel-art. I'm learning so much at so many places and it's great to hop around and learn what I need to know to improve in game development. it has been a dream of mine for the past 18 years. I love how blockbench can look (I've seen the amazing stuff on sketchfab) and the simplicity but also strenght of Godot. But as you might know the problem lies in the courses/tutorials of Blockbench. There are a few out there but 90% of them are focused on Minecraft (importing, animation, adding effects, new monsters or blocks) and also a large part uses the older Blockbench. These videos can be 3 to 5 years old.. No new videos on blockbench modeling has been made that ALSO targets people who want to use it for game development or make scene rendering as a hobby. When I saw your video and the way you teach us things, I really hoped you could fill that void. Becoming the go-to tutorial that teaches us how to make beautiful and complex models with amazing textures to be used in our other projects (scene redering or game development). Anyway.. with 3 weeks without a new video I thought you maybe decided not to continue this tutorial series. Hearing about you and your wife being sick I can totally understand and wish you well. I hope you do not get a 'forced' feeling from us that you need to keep the videos coming. You need to get better first.. making videos when your head is not at the right place yet, will only demotivate you to keep going.. so my best wishes ;)
@MoreByKev Жыл бұрын
I am very much looking to cover those topics ahead, and you are very right about the intention of the series. Minecraft is a common space for Blockbench usage, but not the only one. I have the poor habit of falling out of sync with my upload and production schedule, where the biggest issue now is that I am also on parental leave. So when not sick, still very occupied with other endevours 😅 You'll get it all in due time, pinkie promise ❤️👌
@Biepz69 Жыл бұрын
@@MoreByKev I can't wait! (seriously XD) I'm glad to see new blockbench videos about these topics in the future. I have subscribed to your channel and am ready to learn new things (blockbench related) alongside with you.. I will hold you on your pinkie promise ;) And.. thank you for the effort you are putting in this tutorial series. It might not seems like it at times, but it helps out a lot of people that are wanting to use their blockbench creations in their upcoming projects.

I just started learning the tools for Minecraft modding and I'm excited to see you go in depth into blockbench. If possible, I have a request that I would like you to go over at some point. When learning about modeling and animating different blocks and entities something that keeps coming up is a library called GeckoLib which is an animation engine. All videos about GeckoLib I've found simply state that you just need to add a plugin to blockbench, yet they never go into details about the benefits/advantages of making a GeckoLib entity vs a regular entity. From what I could tell you can still animate in Blockbench without it. Basically I'm trying to figure out, why should I use it?
@MoreByKev Жыл бұрын
GeckoLib is for when you wanna export keyframe animations for Java mods, since normally mods rely on math animations.

@MoreByKev19 күн бұрын
Life came inbetween, partially as I became a parent, and partially due to working on an actual course program intended to hone skills, instead of trying harder to create multifaceted tutorials. The basics is always the fast and easy done one, getting people to explore and examine. But the moment you delve deeper, the concepts grow a multitude per level of depth, since they cross associate and grow into more specific cases, from which it's hard to not 1. Get repetitive 2. Present *the important stuff* without reenforcing the basics of that direction, and what sets it apart from another, over and over. Still got it in the pipeline.

On top of making mobs, can you also make additional items, blocks, weapons, armor, and game modes with Blockbench? I'm curious about the capabilities of Blockbench-?
@MoreByKev10 ай бұрын
Blockbench is a modelling software. You must learn coding to change, edit or adjust ingame behaviours

Modding for Java? Easy is a subjective term, depends on your information accumulation and problem solving skills. And code is not something you write in Blockbench, however you can script variables into animations and more to later control with code in your mod / pack
