1:55 associate recommending Bogart classics: Maltese Falcon, Treasure of the Sierra Madre or The African Queen to some 9 year old... ya that's what hapenned at Blockbuster. LOL
@AllisonDancerChick19826 жыл бұрын
I worked in a Mom and Pop, and some of my shifts included at least one attempt to get kids away from the entrance to the "Red Room" (take a lucky guess what was back there!). None of them involved encouraging nine-year-olds to rent Bogart movies.

So this is the real reason Blockbuster went out of business.... training video's showing 10 year old boys trying to hit on women old enough to be their mother lol

Oh, it's a _classic._ Takes place right after _Jason Goes to Hell._ He seduces and kills a bunch of succubi, essentially sleeping his way back to the physical world. When he does return, he arrives in Dallas, where he stalks a bunch of horny cheerleaders.

Uh, I worked at various video stores (Movie Gallery 2000-2002, Blockbuster 2002-2006, indie video store in 2010, and Blockbuster again 2014-2016), and I’ve never seen tapes blocked in a leaning position like that. I guess that was their deal back in the ‘80s. 🤷

Things wrong with part 2... 1. 10 year old hits on woman old enough to be his mother, and wants to be in a relationship with. 2. 1:55 associate recommending classic titles to a ten year old. 3. From 2:20 to 2:23 the kids eyes get bigger and bigger. Gave me nightmares for a week. 4. 3:55 kid has good point/insult and associate can't think of a comeback. 5. At 4:04 that part's just weird. And I'll just leave it at that.

I am sooooo glad that Blockbuster employees are primarily slackjawed, indifferent stoners today, as opposed to the perky, overbearing saleshawks the company apparently aspired to in the late 80's (it's supposed to be a video store, not The Buckle!). It's nice to know, though, that Blockbuster had a policy requiring it's employees to encourage preteen stalkers. Thanks for the upload!

My guess is that now Blockbuster has online memberships,streaming movies and mail out DVDs as alternate sources of revenue. But in 1989, customers walking in and renting tapes was the ONLY source of revenue...You had to be "perky and overbearing" to get them to rent more tapes so the store can make any money at all.
