My wife and daughter shed long hair into the shower/sinks. The showers I put in catch grates to keep the hair out of the line. The sinks - well every few months I get under them remote the pipe and clean out the hair.

bend up a coat hanger and you can fish out the hair from topside in that sink. I do mine 2-3 times a year.

To get the crud out of bathroom sinks, I use a large zip tie and cut some notches along both side of the long part. And twirled it down where plug is. Works like a charm. Great video. Happy Valentine’s Day olly ♥️🇨🇦

I just moved into a new apartment last week. And after a hard day of moving boxes and unpacking I tried to get a shower. The shower was backed up something awful, full of hair. I had to run out and get some Liquid Plummer Hair Gel to dissolve the clog. And my bathroom sink stopper had silicone dried up in the channels of the stopper. I had to use needle nose pliers to hold the silicone and a knife to cut the silicone free.

Amazing how much hair there was there. In my younger years I lived with an asian girl. She'd be forever dropping long black hair (you'd find it just sitting on the floor - would build up over a week before I vacuumed). No doubt a lot of it went down the drain when she was showering.

Never seen that FlexShaft by Ridgid. Looks like a great machine and easy to use over using a hand power snake(drain cleaner). Great videos, interesting places to see, great in solving draining issues and new drain cleaning equipment. I learn alot watching this channel and might have to use some of the techniques if I run across draining issues in the future. Great job Ollie in passing down your knowledge. Love watching your channel and techniques over here in Hawaii...

How does the building code in Australia allow for open drains inside living spaces without p-traps present? How do y’all keep sewer gas out of your houses? I understand the concept of boundary traps at the edge of the property but how in the world do you take a dump everyday sitting over top of these open drains in a first world country? I just can’t imagine having to do that in a property as finished and nice as this one.

@@DrainAddict Ah ok, so the floor drains act as a second p-trap for tub/shower and sink basin grey water? Do toilets go thru them as well? I guess if the black water from the toilet stays separate and only grey water goes thru the floor drains it makes some sort of sense…until they backup really. Is it code requirement there to have floor drains in bathrooms? I think I’d rather go without one and have my stopped up toilet backup in a tub or shower rather than all over the floor but that’s just me I guess. …me and the kids love the videos. We always try to see who can count the most corn. ;)

@@CT-vm4gf I saw that under the sink, but the sink and shower dump directly into the floor drain which is a second trap (I guess you could even see it as a clean out)…but if it gets stopped up the shower and sink can run out onto to floor no? I’m sure as well with as much hair was in that shower drain it still smelled pretty heavily.
