The part where the bass does two quick snaps at around 3:20 and she echoes it, says "ha ha" is pretty amazing. Ok I mean speaking as a bass player. YMMV. It's those kind of little tasteful flourishes and details that elevate a song if done right.

I absolutely adore Sade! This is one of her earliest hits, released in 1985! She has a smooth jazzy, pop sound that is in a class of its own! The guy in the video seemed to be a little “dark” because he had the gun in the glove compartment of the vehicle which is nothing these days but in the eighties not everyone drove around with guns in their vehicle!😂❤❤

In the 80's and 90's, Sade was truly an international star. Listen to any of her roughly 15 best songs and you will definitely know why. She was in a class by herself and maybe a genre too. Who else could have hit after hit singing "smooth jazz". It's hard to pick one fave, but I think mine is "Is It a Crime?" Her Best Of and Greatest Hits albums are amazing.

I remember when this was a current hit and it was overplayed a bit on radio and the other few media sources we had. I knew what "taboo" meant and asked my step-mom what she meant by "Sweetest Taboo" in the lyrics. She masterfully/classily implied that it was oral sex (reading between the lines years later and not understanding at the time). On re-listens, it DEFINITELY implies orgasmic activity that she hadnt know previously, and oral sex seems plausible.

Sade is very tough to pinpoint! Her music fits in no genre yet if it’s in many genres! I like her somewhat to the late artist Prince. She’s one of those people that can pretty much fit in the any category. She was that talented. As for this song, this was easily one of my favorites. This is one of those that I loved hearing on a good sunny day that was very warm, not excruciatingly hot. That I could lay down and listen to under a fan and just drift off into relaxation listening to.

Saw her in 1988, Australia, was smooth and subtle then, love music for sure. 34 years later we can surely view it as timeless. Just when you are in the mood, sway and move to these tones grasp your loved one and let the syrup flow... gorgeous
