What I am against is: 1) Everyone who idolizes these people like they are gods or some higher-level being. 2) These celebrities are so disconnected from the world we live in it's scary. Personally, watching celebrities pretty up for these events while millions suffer globally is very disconcerting to me. I can't stomach that these people live their lives lavishly while so many suffer. It truly feels dystopian. They have the power, money, and influence to bring attention to so many global conflicts. They don't have to get political with things as that is always messy but they have the ability to shed light on people who suffer in silence. For example, barely anybody knows what is happening in Sudan right now. If one of these celebrities who has millions of followers were to bring up the suffering people are enduring in Sudan, that would spread awareness on a massive scale. Celebrities' constant me me me me me attitude at its core is very selfish and something I will criticize.

My teachers never took the "I'm not informed enough" as an answer to any subject. They always said inform yourself if you truly care about your grades. The same works here for these celebrities. On the last question of whether this campaign would be effective, I would say yes, at least from the point of view of drawing attention to not only artists but also their fans. Just because you’re an artist doesn’t mean that you really are someone educated in politics, social justice, etc. Also, this is another form of boycott with which I agree with. The important thing is to not feel resentful against those who haven’t spoken up, whether they knew about these or not. I hope you’re doing this to educate them and let them know that we are the ones who have the power. We’re the ones who make them famous, rich, and influential. One last thing, whatever they decide to do, let’s hope they do it from their heart and not just because they feel obligated to protect their status.
