My father died the same day John Bonham died. My husband was born the same day Jimmy Page was born.,,different year, same initials. I am five days younger than Robert Plant. They were the best of what we hippies were back then and a lot of us built our lives listening to and playing their music. We are us because of them.

My fav song. I saw Page and Plant 3 times in the 90's and they never played it. A few years ago, Plant played in Detroit and he played this and it was beautiful, he still had it and he nailed the "I felt the coldness of my winter" better than here. He also sang Wonton song at that show, epic.

The most beautiful tune ever - if you could put Jimmy Page's soul in a jar, it would sparkle and make this sound.

Saw Robert solo in 93 his voice was great. Then I saw Page & Plant twice in the 90's and voice was tired then forward to 07 LZ reunion o2 arena and he killed it on Kashmir. It's strange.

Stairway is a great song.... but, this song transcends...
@joeyhuebner107 ай бұрын
I feel the same. Stairway is beautiful, but the lyrics, delivery, and instrumentation in the Rain Song does it for me. Possibly my favorite of Zeppelins acoustic numbers. I don't know why, but when Robert gets to "flee from me, keepers of the gloom" its an instant emotional trigger.

According to Chris Salewicz, Page was off drugs but he was drinking a great deal, with Plant’s mates complaining that his boozing was adversely affecting his performances.

was at this show and purchased the video of the whole show off the original bootlegger,it was incredible how hard he was hitting the strings on this song,threw it out after one viewing,the picture was so shaky but the real star of this show was Michael Lee,so sad he passed away.

@joeyhuebner102 жыл бұрын
Anybody who knows Zep knows that John Paul did the orchestral arrangements for songs like Kashmir and The Rain Song.
@maryjvanderwerken3192 Жыл бұрын
I luv JPJ, I am in awe of his talent and versatility. BUT.....I feel that the additional strings detract from the delicate perfection and beauty of this song. I prefer Page and Plant as two no-frills troubadours, singing for their supper. ☺💙🎶💙🎶💙
@maryjvanderwerken3192 Жыл бұрын
Didn't know about JPJ's contribution. So, JPJ was part of the Page and Plant tour after all. I'm a musical purist and I think the big fat orchestral string section detracts from the beautiful simplicity and purity of this exquisite song. In this case, I think less would certainly be more.

Kevin Hall- I would like to see Plant on his current tour. Carry Fire, from what I've seen, is brilliant. But hey, being born in 2002 isn't always gloom and darkness, we've got KZbin.
@joeyhuebner106 жыл бұрын
Kevin Hall- Definitely not, back then, you got what you paid for. Now, you have to pay a bloody fortune to see the likes of a lowly star who isn't worth their salt. Good thing you caught Zep on their only Australian tour, must have been incendiary!
