I knew that Abrahams had left Tull and formed Blodwyn Pig, but never listened to any ofd their music. Enjoyable. Not as pure blues as I had expected - and that made it more interesting for me.

Yes, you're right, it's still pretty close to Jethro Tull's This Was album, probably because Mick Abrahams composed some of the tracks on that debut! That said, Ian Anderson quickly moved away from that sound, while Blodwyn Pig delved deeper into progressive blues rock with a slightly more jazzy approach. I'm not into blues rock, but I find the first two Blodwyn Pig albums (as well as Jethro Tull's This Was) original and enjoyable to listen to. It would seem Blodwyn is a Welsh name derived from the Welsh for flower (blodau) and for white (wen). So it actually means white flower, and Bloodwyn Pig could be flower-beak... (Just a guess).

Pronounced “blahdwun” seen it used as a feminine name. Wore the grooves out of Ahead Rings Out.
