This helped explaining things a lot in such a simple way. You do the same thing i do when explaining things to people that are hard to understand. Basically dumbing it down and explaining in basic words. Not using big fancy technical words to try and sound smarter than they are.

I created my website on the side in 2020. I am a SAHM so I don't have a ton of free time until my kids go to bed at night. I haven't made great progress with it and have been really discouraged lately. In fact, I've been wondering if it is time that I let this dream go because I am not sure how much longer I can justify the cost of keeping it up. I accidentally discovered your KZbin channel and you've given me a push to try a bit longer. I enjoy your videos because you get right to the point and explain things in layman's terms. After watching this video, I can see that I really messed up my URL slugs. All of your other suggestions I can easily edit, but I'm not sure how to edit the url slug without messing up all of the links to it (ie: Pinterest, Facebook, etc.) Do you have a video on this or do I just have to keep the url slugs the same and optimize everything else the best I can?

Aw yay, I’m glad this video was helpful & inspiring for you. Online business growth definitely takes time, so give yourself some grace. It’s a lot more difficult then some gurus on social media make it. Yes, in terms of editing the slug, it will mess up your URLs and create broken links. So if you want to update them, you need to create a 301 redirect (I have a video on setting those up on my channel). Sometimes you can optimize all the other pieces, without changing the URL and get results. It’s all super dependent on the competition of the keyword and your content. So if you feel uncomfortable changing the slugs, tackle the other things and see how it goes. And then moving forward with new content, create the slugs with more intention. Hope that helps! ✨

Thank you! Depending on your website platform, there should be a setting for it. Each platform handles things differently. Or you can hard code it in. Just Google search “html for opening a link in a new fab”.

Hello Maria, once again I wish to say how incredibly helpful you are with these videos on SEO. Through putting into practice all your tips for SEO on products, collections and pages and now Blogs, I'm understanding how all this works now. Thank you indeed. I have one question please if you don't mind. I'm using a Shopify theme and I've successfully written my first blog, but nowhere on the page can I find the section in relation to Permalink and URL slug (the 8th place where you state that the keyword/s should be placed). Would you have any idea where I might find it?

Aw yay that makes me so happy! Usually once it all “clicks” it makes it so much easier to implement. Usually the permalink for Shopify is under the SEO Settings for pages, where you’d customize the SEO title & meta description. Hopefully that helps!

Do you include an alt text in every single image in your blog post, even if you don't include the keyword? I've heard to always make the alt text a description of what is in the image. Do you also include a title for your images?

Best practice is to have an ALT text for every image because first and foremost ALT text is for accessibility & screen readers to let visually impaired users understand the context of the image. Google Bots also scan the ALT text to try and figure out what the image is of so they can index it correctly. If we can naturally get the target keyword inside an image ALT text while still being honest about what the image is of, that’s perfect. Is ALT text make or break for optimization? Not that I’ve seen. It’s wildly important for eCommerce product pages tho. In terms of image titles, I name my images what they are of, so sometimes that includes the keyword and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s all kinda based on context of the content & image.
