Love Rabbi Tovia Singer! I listen to him all the time and his knowledge of scripture is very good. After studying Islam and Judaism and from Rabbi Singer, it has given me much more and deeper insight to the original Jewish scripture which proves that Jesus wasn’t God. I’m no longer a pastor and now Muslim! Allhamdulilah

The original Hebrew Scriptures prove that Jesus is the true Messiah God of Israel. Having Tovia Singer tell you how to “properly” interpret the Hebrew Scripture (misinterpret and misread it to be exact) is what takes to deny that Jesus is God and Messiah of Israel. Let’s make it absolutely clear.

@@V_George You don't need the OT, the Quran makes it clear, that whoever says Jesus pbuh, the mesiah, is God commits disbelief. The Quran alone stands strong, of course the OT and even NT supports the Quran, but even without prophecy, the theology makes sense to the natural disposition, and also has true prophecies and no falsehood in it. Also, the "prince of peace" isn't the Father, even if he was Jesus, you claim he's the son, even from a trinitarian perspective it doesn't work. And in the hebrew it can be understood as "and the father shall call him "prince of peace", now I don't remember exactly the wording. This is similar to the reading of the name of Jesus the son of Mary to mean "he is saved"... Which also would reveal the main characteristic of the mesiah prophet, which is that he was saved and didn't die, God ANSWERED HIM!!!! Just as the prophecy foretold "He shall call me and I shall answer"... Even in the Bible Jesus pbuh prayed to the Father, to God, not to be crucified... you have the proof in the Bible, even if afterwards the scribes or whonot added fabricated stories about the crucifiction... (btw, probably the other Jesus who claimed a messianic title was the one crucified, because Barabbas means "the son of the Father", and he was saved... so how do you know which of the two messianic Jesus died? I say the false one died, and the true messiah was saved... and here you are praying to a false messianic claimant who died never to rose again... instead of praying to the Father alone as the true messiah commanded us, sorry to be rude but that's a possibility that the gospel of "matthew" if i'm not mistaken leaved very open, so much that the scribes removed the name "Jesus" from "Jesus Barabbas" because it confused the people and made them question who was the crucified one...) Jesus pbuh is the messiah Isra3l was waiting for. But he's not THE GOD, he is not THEON... even the gospel of "John" makes it clear that the word is theos, not THEON... and the word is with THEON, and the word is theos... No equality, THEON is greater than any theos... The trinity was a voted doctrine, are we democrats now? Are we now the ones making theology? Instead of God? Of course any voted theology was gonna lead you astray... How many councils did we need in Islam to say that God is one, and actually only one? 0, why? Because the Quran, the revelation, word of God, is very clear about the nature of God. And that's what we care about, sure other stuff is more criptic, like the green, the dude who taught Moses pbuh stuff... that is enigmatic, but I don't need to understand it all to be a full muslim, it's shameful that Christians differ on the most basic stuff, and it shows the world that you are in doubt about who God is and how to be saved... who then should become a Christian? Or a mainstream Christians I should say, true Christians were the Nazareans, they kept the law, the Torah, as any Christian should. If you reject the Torah, you are a lawless, a follower of Paul the ravenous wolf, and in Matthew 7:21 or so it tells you what Jesus pbuh will tell you "Depart from me, i never knew you, workers of lawlessness", the greek actually says lawlessness, which is very powerful beacuse it shows clearly that Paul was a corruptor or Christianity... yes... the dude who wrote most of the NT is a ravenous wolf, and antichrist... Benjamin is a ravenous wolf, in the morning he devours his prey, in the evening he divides his plunder... it's in Genesis... looking back, this is a prophecy of Paul quite clearly... Anyways, peace, i don't want to offend you ot be real, i just wanted to present the arguments, and make you reflect, you can disagree of course, many is work we do by reading, but the Quran may not adress this, so God knows best if we are right.

I respect the Rabbi, but I have studied Judaism and read their books, definitely very, very similar to Islam. I still choose Islam because I believe that Allah chose Muhamad (peace be upon him), the gentile, the Ishmaelite, to unite all of mankind, regardless of tribe or nation, to worship the one true God and Him alone. Not just that, but to challenge the pride and ego of the Jews in their belief that they are the superior nation and they looked down on the Ishmaelites (when Ishmael was a son of Abraham himself and obviously was also taught the religion of his father). Judaism was a tribal religion (and still is) and we know that Allah had favored Bani Israel in the past, we believe that. But Islam had to come, so all of mankind may know and worship Allah alone, instead of limiting it to a certain tribe. Being of a certain tribe is not what makes you God’s chosen, but believing in Allah and practicing what He commands is what makes you part of God’s chosen. Regardless of your race, tribe, nation, past. Isn’t that more just and fair? More logical?

There were some tense moments, perhaps, when the topic of conversation highlighted certain irreconcilable differences between Islam and Judaism, but both parties seemed to agree to disagree out of respect for each other's position; real honesty. I think Paul asked four out of five questions I had in mind. I therefore found this conversation very helpful. He is genuine and he says things as they are and doesn't try to needlessly sugarcoat his views but he does it in a very nuanced fashion that doesn't disrespect his counterpart's views. Brother Paul maintains these very characteristics throughout this conversation. He stood his ground on certain issues and presented the Islamic view on those issues however it was still done with a foundation of respect and in an equitable fashion. Thank you brother Paul, I knew quite a bit about the similarities of Judaism and Islam and respect them as the People of the Book. In Islam too, part of repentance is not doing the act again - it is nice to learn about these smaller details we share. Alhamdulillah I got to learn about so much more, about the Abrahamic faiths, their differences and similarities from this interview. Keep up the good work.

@@fedesetrtatio1 Uzair isn’t 100% Ezra, it could be Osiris, Gordon Darnell Newby has suggested that the Quranic expression may have reflected Ezra's possible designation as one of the Bene Elohim (lit. sons of God) by Jews of the Hejaz.[8] Other scholars proposed emendations of the received spelling of the name, leading to readings ‘Uzayl (‘Azazel), ‘Azīz, or Azariah (Abednego)

@@fedesetrtatio1 or even the angel Metatron... or read this - According to Reuven Firestone, there is evidence of groups of Jews venerating Ezra to an extent greater than mainstream Judaism, which fits with the interpretation that the verse merely speaks of a small group of Jews. The book 2 Esdras, a non-canonical book attributed to Babylonian captivity, associates a near-divine or angelic status to Ezra.[25] Mark Lidzbarski and Michael Lodahl have also hypothesized existence of an Arabian Jewish sect whose veneration of Ezra bordered on deification.[7]

I enjoy listening to Rabbi Tovia's responses; especially poignant was his discussion of Universities' Religious Studies group-think; This is certainly applicable in University Islamic Studies in my experience.

@@charlievaughan1308 I am not a scholar but my understanding is that all the previous messages came for a certain group of people for a certain time. People have free will and intelligence to accept or reject the messages. All previous messages were not a complete way of life as Islam is. Prophet Mohammad pbuh was a messenger, general and a ruler and showed how to live a complete life. Hence, all other previous messages are no longer necessary. People who choose to distort messages for their own benefit will be accountable for their actions. Every human either worships the creator or worships the creation. We choose and act accordingly.

@@charlievaughan1308 Previous prophets were sent to a particular group of people and their message was supposed to be followed for a particular time period. Since previous revelations were time-bound, God did not preserve them Himself. Muslims believe that the Quran cannot be compared with the previous Scriptures. The Quran is unique in many aspects. It is the final revelation to mankind. Previous scriptures were sent to their respective people only. The Quran is universal.

Dr Paul Williams: my compliments, sir, for an intelligent and honest discussion with R' Tovia Singer. You and I have a lot in common. I understand that you come from a background of committed Christianity and so do I. We both have discovered and rejected the shittuf (partnership belief, I think it is called shirq in Qur'anic Arabic) of Christianity - and, I may add, the toxic consequences of ascribing Divine qualities to a human being's identity. This leads to all sorts of ideas foreign to the God proclaimed by the prophets. I remember the days of my youth when as a young pastor I found myself saying things from the pulpit that, in my heart of hearts, could not believe. My road led me to embracing the Jewish faith as the default that a bible believing Christian in my mind *has* to fall back on *if* he becomes convinced that Christianity is, in fact, at best a corruption of the truth or at worst a deliberate deception. Obviously, I will never assume bad faith to my Christian neighbour. I *know* the incredible measure of sheer ignorance among the Christians in the pews of their churches. The theological seminaries and divinity departments of universities are a different story. It is not coincidental that, statistically, a very strong correlation can be found of biblical erudition and "apostasy" from Christianity. Most converts to Judaism from Christianity come from very strong Christian backgrounds. I am reasonably sure that such stories are not uncommon among converts to Islam. This brings me to a matter that pains me more and more these days. For the last almost 46 years I have been content being "just another Jew". Conversely, I observe that you are *very* actively engaged in disseminating your uncompromising message of His Unity (your word tawhid is exactly the same word as the Hebrew yichud, as you undoubtedly know). Men like R' Tovia Singer, although primarily active in counter-missionary activism and education, have seen the unintended consequences of their work: many Christians follow his online material and become aware of the errors of the Christian gospel - especially the dominant Pauline immoral and pagan version. He is really a very compassionate and empathetic man who has a love for all God's children and knows the depths of spiritual abominations that obscure the light of God's truth. I really think that we Jews can learn from our Muslim friends something: they are much more passionate about reaching out to the world of ignorance and educating those lost in idolatry. In our Jewish mind, Abraham of blessed memory is always associated with the quality of kindness (chesed in Hebrew) and concern for the horrible world around him. He brought God's light to those around him. His son Yishmael (Ismail) has passed this passion down to his descendants. Anyway, I just wanted to share some of my thoughts with you after thoroughly enjoying your discussions with R' Singer. Perhaps you can at some future occasion discuss with R' Singer the Muslim notion of dawwa - I hope my transliteration is understandable or even correct... The usual Jewish attitude - which I share in a cultural sense but find problematic when I give it some more thought - is that we spread God's light to "the nations" by an exemplary life. Quite apart from the obvious fact that many Jews, myself included, have some problems attaining such a high standard, I somehow doubt that this is enough effort to fulfil our mission as God's messengers to the world, without which the very basis of our existence as God's "chosen" becomes the crudest of elitism and at worst even racism. I think you could have a fascinating discussion with R' Singer about this. It is, after all, a common concern of both Muslims and Jews, however different they express that concern.
