@@johnbrzykcy3076 I can relate to that. These questions seem to penetrate deep into our selves at different phases of our lives. You seem think about "Why am I here? What does this mean? Is there more to life than just going to work 9 to 5 and then getting old and dying?" I have been studying philosophy for 8 years now and one of the reasons I started studying is because of these deep existential questions. You will find a lot of good content in the book I recommended and I wish you all the best in your journey towards finding satisfactory answers to these questions :)

SubhanAllah, I used to read the Quran on my own out loud and my dad once told me that I’m not allowed to read it from the book without having read it in front of an authorized teacher that has a chain all the way to the Prophet. When I first heard it, I was a bit uneasy about the thought and was heartbroken that my dad is preventing me from reading the Quran. But I later understood that that was the way it was preserved throughout the ages. It isn’t just the letters that are preserved, but their pronunciations also. We are from Damascus and all of my family members were taught the Quran that way. Alhamdullilah.
@thairinkhudr4259

I also was chided or warned this way after taking a one week class on fard. Additionally they said that all my knowledge I learned not from authorised teachers and the deeds I did from this knowledge was not accepted by Allah. Honestly I felt heartbroken and I still don't believe this is true. I don't think the threshold is THAT high, but how do I know? 😢

'tajweed' the science of reciting quran is something that is thought along with qur'an. are you guys from north Africa? as you might be knowing arabic but the pronunciations are different? actually it exists everywhere and the accurate ones aren't scarce either. thank god we can listen to imams of Makkah from our devices. reducing the room for error.
@saeedkhalifeh8730
@saeedkhalifeh8730 2 жыл бұрын
@@nabeelnazer7103 no I’m Syrian, but tajweed is mandatory for a person to be able to recite it correctly for its preservation, hence why we have to sit in front of qualified teachers to learn. Sometimes, you would think that you’re pronouncing a word and are giving it its due, but you are mistaken in a haraka, or a madd or a lack of ghunna, etc. That’s why just listening, while it helps, isn’t bulletproof.

To the brothers who dismiss philosophy, I always wonder how they define "philosophy"? As Hamza beautifully pointed out: the problems of induction and the validity of testimony are very important for Muslims to understand, when having discourse with atheists. Science is and never will be about the absolute truth, but rather truth in the sense as to how we best make sense of our observations at this current time. There is always the chance that future observations will either change or modify our current theories. This should help to get the atheist thinking; and more importantly get Muslims who have been given doubts from science a chance to reflect on the short comings of science. It also directly challanges the common atheist rhetoric that science and religion are diametrically opposed, as science is not conclusively proving or disproving anything. This all classifies as philosophy and it is abosolutely indispensable for Muslims.

@@johnbrzykcy3076 " and be not like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient." @@sisterfleur7523 Greetings from Florida. I'm not Muslim but a Christian believer. However I feel a lot like you do. I often feel like a "misfit" in this world. I'm so happy to hear that you "value compassion, generosity etc." That's wonderful. I think Jesus was the best example of compassion. Was Muhammed compassionate? In my belief, we can't "earn paradise" as you said. Why should we have to earn paradise if Allah ( God ) is all-forgiving? He is maximally forgiving. In fact, God sent Jesus to earth to teach us about God's love and forgiveness. Like you, I am kind of an introvert and "very sensitive." I'm so sensitive that I'm afraid to offend Muslims ( and others ) because then they will get upset with me. But I also do respect Muslims and people of other religions. I'm learning about Islam through Blogging Theology. I still believe that Jesus was more than a prophet because I see Him as the Son of God who came to teach us about love and to destroy the power of sin. I often wonder why is there sin in this world? Yes, you belong in Paradise because God loves you. God understands our feelings and desires. Don't you think so? Peace to you from Florida

Physical Books also help you jot down your thoughts at the time of reading. I have a hard time journaling but when I read a book and something touches me, i jot down my thoughts on the margins of the page. Can’t really do that with a kindle.

Its kinda splitting hairs the whole mercy of God in Islam vs Christianity if at the end of the day both religions state that most people are gonna roast in hell for all eternity. And both religions have a kind of predestination lack of free will element as well.

Sir Paul.... when Hamza talked about love, I was very impressed. Adam and Eve were the first benefactors of God's love. I like when Hamza said " Forgiveness is an expression of love." Excellent. However when Hamza said that "it seems to me that God's holiness in the Christian tradition takes precedence over His forgiveness," I don't accept such a view. I think God is "maximally forgiving" too. Peace

John, I give you two examples : 1. In Islam we believe that the Prophet Adam peace be upon him repented to Allah and Allah simply forgave him, no one had to bear the burden of his sin after him. 2. We also believe that Allah did not need an innocent man such as the Prophet Jesus peace be upon him to be tortured and killed to forgive the sins of men, in fact Allah forgives whom He wills on the condition of not associating anything or anyone with him, to believe in all His prophets from Adam to Muhammad and to believe in their message: Islam.

Mr. Brzykcy - there is a professor, metaphysician, scholar, sufi, whatever you want to call him, called Dr. Seyyed Hossein Nasr. In my humble opinion, he is the greatest Muslim metaphysician who writes in English alive right now. Only thing is his books and articles are quite challenging to non-academics like me. Maybe you will like him? Be sure to check him out if you can my friend

@@stand4uyghurs690 Thanks for your comments. I am aware of the Islamic belief regarding Jesus and I'm still struggling as a Christian to understand Jesus' identity. Regarding Prophet Adam, I think the Islamic belief makes sense. However I'm trying to reconcile that Islamic belief with the narratives in the book of Genesis. I've never really studied Genesis so I can't say much. I think some Christian scholars say that Adam and Eve were "evicted" from paradise. So do Muslims believe that Adam and Eve stayed in paradise ( the garden ) after they ate the "forbidden fruit"? Peace

God knew that Adam & Eva will make the mistake, it’s a minor sin, they eat a couples of fruits and symbolize that they where ready for earth because they made their first independent choice. That why when God told the angels that he will put an advisory on earth, they replied by why, and that was before they where put down to earth and eat from the tree. And that why God forgave them for eating a couple of fruits. Big difference from the biblical perspective.
