As a Roman Catholic, I enjoyed this discussion. My view is that if we all acknowledge and adhere to the guidance of the Holy Books then we can't go far wrong - except through our sinful human nature if we allow that to guide us. As a Roman Catholic, I have always held a certain respect for Islam and The Qur'an and think Roman Catholicism is the closest of all the various Christian denominations to Islam. Before he mentioned it I could already tell that Hamza Yusuf was an ex-Catholic by his attitude and demeanour.

Yes. There are many similarities between Roman Catholic and Orthodox (Sunni) Islam. Even in the mind-body it's quite difficult at least for me to differentiate concursus dei and kasb. But in the ontology cmiiw mainstream Catholicism more close to perennial philosopher's works (e.g Avicenna and Averroes) via Thomas Aquinas than occasionalism (e.g Al-Ghazali) via Nicolas Malebranche.

Where we encounter fellow Jews who have strayed from the path, we try to engage them so that they come back to the fold and show them how G-D can be a part of their lives. You don't need to condemn all non believers out of hand or send them to hell. Many professed atheists have come back to G-D as a result of having Near Death Experiences or other spiritual encounters. This is what G-D is looking for in the end. Did you try to encourage such people to re-engage with their faith?

@@AntonySachin "It has no connection with an arabic culture". Just to be very simple and concise. Who is the father of western thought? Socrates whom we know from the great Plato, and his student Plato, and his student Aristotle. Aristotle, literally called The Philosopher was known through Ibn Rushd (Averroes) that he was named by the westerners who read Aristotle through him as "The Commentator" Did you know the only single work of Plato known to the west was the first part of Timaeus? So how did the other texts reach the west? Literally by Plethon taking them from Constantinople. Algebra is الجبر which literally comes from Khawarizmi's name of his book Algebra الجبر Chemistry is a renaissance era change of the word Alchemy which is from the root الكيمياء or Alchemy or The Chemistry. The element system literally comes from Jabir ibn Hayyan. The Book of Optics literally comes from Ibn al-Haytham. "In the book, he presented a study of the phenomenon of the camera obscura (his thousand-year-old version of the pinhole camera) and delved further into the way the eye itself works. Using dissections and the knowledge of previous scholars, he was able to begin to explain how light enters the eye. He asserted that the light ray is focused, but the actual explanation of how light projected to the back of the eye had to wait until 1604. His Treatise on Light explained the camera obscura, hundreds of years before the modern development of photography" Who literally outlined natural selecrion and darwinism a thousand years before darwin? Al-Jahiz! Who formulated the scientific method? Jabir ibn-Hayyan (Geber) I mean I don't even have to go deep, rhis is all elementary basic knowledge. “The baseline is 5 times a day. Many people do more than that”.. Very true. I think an average muslims pray 5-8 times per day. I pray 10-11 times per day. And I’m an ER doctor, but I still find time to perform more prayers whenever I could. Alhamdulillah all praise be unto God for giving me more opportunities for me to worship Him. O Allah I ask for Your Guidance, please don’t forsaken me O Allah. The All-Perfect, The King of all kings, The Most Sacred Most Holy, God of the worlds.

God has the picture, we have the pixel. So on the surface something may seem evil to us, but we don't have all the knowledge in the world to judge whether or not something evil per se. A child cud die of cancer but we may not know, if the child grew up, he might become a murderer. So God, knowing this, might decide to do what he knows to be good. Simple. We don't know everything. It's as simple as that. Problem of evil isn't a real problem at all for denying God
