I have so much inner turmoil right now because I want to please you and create things that you’re asking for, but at the same time, I have to stay true to my design intent and ‪@popflexactive‬'s style.

So obviously the short one looks great on your slender frame. On some one like me that’s pear shaped with the old thunder thighs that chafe I think it would look much more balanced because the skirt would flare more around my shape. I reckon you get a larger model to try it out and see what it looks like then.

I absolutely agree. The only thing I might change is to have the shorts a hint shorter than the skirt, so they can’t be seen from a standing position so it just looks like a skirt, but to still keep the shorts long enough to cover the chunk of my inner thigh.

Exactly! Have a fitting on a bunch of different body types. Skirts like this fit really well on taller people or people with wider hips or square shaped hips If she’s only testing them on one body type she’s only gonna get one fashion shape😢 A lot of brands do this and it’s a huge mistake I worked at a couple of different fashion brands for plus size and this was some thing they did.

Excellent suggestion! I love this idea! Not everyone has body proportion that make such a short skirt work. My daughter has very long legs and arms and it causes problems for her at school because most shorts and skirts aren’t made for people of her proportions and the poor kid gets dress coded all the time. And my daughter in law is full figured. I didn’t realize how differently things fit big girls until I made her wedding dress.

The issue is: you're young and beautiful and fit. As people age, having some extra coverage just helps with comfort. You look great in both - definitely better in the shorter skirt, but can you imagine someone in their 60s wanting to start working out, making healthier choices, or anything like that and going for a shorter skirt? I know that the standards for age and beauty are all over the place and so I'm not referring to celebrities or wealthy women with surgery or personal trainers or women who have worked their butt off to have a trim body their whole life. I'm talking about the average 50+ year old woman who's had kids or worked a full career and is now working on herself. Lots of people - younger and older - could have interest in your skirt in a longer design. I promise you'll have a market. For me, I'm particularly tall, and short skirts don't work well when it comes to modesty, so length is a big one. You're doing great, but I didn't need to tell you that ;)

I think it would look gorgeous on my body type because I have a biggish behind area and normal skirts tend to lift at the back making it so I'm drawing unwanted attention to that area. ​@Mqr Brightside pear shaped women already have larger thighs and hips. Cassy doesn't have that. Her body shape is mostly straight and not as curvy so the shorter skirt looks better on her bc it flares at a higher height. That creates an illusion of a smaller waist when she doesn't have as much definition without the flare. But with the longer skirt that doesn't happen and it emphasizes her natural shape. With pear shapped whomen this won't happen bc they already have the larger hips and thighs with the smaller waist. Also, for a circle skirt when you're making it longer it'll help to make the circle larger in circumstance at the waistband but not in length so that there's more pleating. It just drapes better on the body.

You do you but I wouldn't recommend wearing this fabric when it's hot, synthetics will trap heat and moisture causing you to feel hotter than if you wore natural fibres, not to mention much more sweaty and sticky (even in a dry climate)

I think the issue is you need more volume at the bottom of the skort. With the skort as high waisted, the skort feels very straight and parallel (not much curve). I would add more to the circumference of the bottom hem and gather the additional fabric. Or you add some pleats for shape. I love a pleated skirt in Winter. I am not a seamstress so I hope I was able to communicate my idea.

Well pleates would likely add to the strait not very voluminous look, but extra volume at the bottom could be achieved with adding an extra layer of ruffle. There are a couple problems with this though. That kind of look is typically associated with youth, and could appear as something a young girl would wear. It would also add an extra seam, although I'm sure with her skill this wouldn't be much of an issue. Btw I'm a person with sewing skills, cosplayer.

Coming from another designer: I feel like circle skirts are not flattering on everyone, especially in longer circle skirts and skirts where the material is a bit thicker or stretchier. It is possible to make a twirly skirt that isn’t a circle skirt, so maybe play around with that. I love the crisscross waistband; I know a lot of other people suggested that too. I know you will figure it out, you always have the most amazing designs!! 😊

I think it would be great if you put the crisscross waistband (the one that you have on some of your pants) on this longer one, to give more of an hourglass effect. Because the waistband is the major issue for me with the long one, it's not flattering. I would really love the longer skort to come out, so that the bum is actually covered when you bend down. I honestly really like it! The length is so much more modest and I would feel much more confident wearing it! I did see one comment suggesting the v-shaped waistband and I think that would totally do wonders for it. The problem is that the long length, plus how it’s so flowy makes it look like really big, maybe it would help if it were a non flowy skirt , maybe flat with a slit so we can still move, or keep the ruffles but not on the whole skirt instead make them start around 1/3 of the length down. If you did a V shaped waistband it would improve the overall shape of the skirt. Personally as you’re so petite, like myself, our bodies don’t look right in longer skirts/dresses unless they’re maxi, we look awkward but for people with long legs they need that coverage or maybe others that want to dress more modest also. I would wear the longer one, I’m more modest more conservative in how I dress, I could never wear the shorter one. I think it looks off with the revealing top, it would look more normal with a similarly styled top

Okay so I'll be blunt with you, it sounds like you're at turmoil and not feeling the longer length bc you're basically a strong short skirt girl. In other words, maybe have other models of your brand try it out to ensure the final say isn't influenced by personal bias. I personally LOVE Maxi skirts for casual wear and I'd love midi skirts for work out wear, so that length is something I'd love. Another possible reason you're not feeling it is maybe it needs more flare if that makes sense. The current design for the longer length is pretty but essentially "flatly" lays on the hips, and thus might not be at its fullest potential. I'm no expert in fashion design, but I am picky with skirts too, and I'm sure you can make the longer length slay just like with your previous designs. 🧡❤️🧡

I believe you need to love what you create. But sometimes you have to take a step back and realize that not everything you create you will love like something you did before. If I were you, I'd try seeing if someone of a different body type will try this on so you're not comparing it to the shorter one, but seeing and appreciating it as it's own ❤

If she’s got a “good body”, an “ideal body”, and it looks awful on her, I don’t see how it’s likely to look decent on anyone else? And even if it does look less bad on other people, I don’t think she should be selling something that looks that unflattering on anyone

I disagree. I think part of what makes Cassie such a great designer is that she loves everything she makes so if she doesn't, I'm sure she'll work on it until she does. And a lot of her pieces look good in all the sizes so I think she wants to keep that going

So … I love a shorter skort for when I’m with friends and family, working out, etc. Buuuut I also work outside, and need a “semi-casual-but-professional” look - and I don’t want to wear spanks under a skirt so I can be hot and sweaty, when I could pair a skort like that with a matching square cut neckline fitted tank of some kind, and a light jacket. So - maybe an inch shorter, and more “twirl” effect - but still “work” appropriate with out the fear of “boys” being jerks - and yet you change the suit jacket to a jean jacket - pair with a corset style top - and you can go and be with partner for drinks after work.

Yeah it sucks because I would also want something longer but I agree that it def doesn’t look great in the longer length. I just don’t know! Maybe it can’t be in the twirl style. Maybe it’s gotta be something like… more minimalistic? Like a wrap skort style?

I’m really thinking the criss cross waist band & “pleated” (saying pleated like this because I’m not sure if there’s another name for what I imagine but not actual pleats, I’m just thinking fabric pulled at specific areas to create volume) where the skirt meets the waistband could save the longer version. The original circle skirt technique gives off a *twirl effect* but this one doesn’t have the same umf lol Can’t wait to see how it ends up either way I know she’s going to hit us with a fabulous longer skort!

Just because you might not like it, doesn’t mean that others won’t! It will still sell! Some of us are insecure about our legs (cellulite, scars, etc), and a longer length can help us feel comfortable while working out, and at the same time allow us to feel like we’re covered enough to go out.

You have to keep in mind it’s not just about you and your body type. Cater to difference and diversity stop using yourself to determine clothes worth and other ladies shouldn’t have to remind you as a designer that there is diversity in this world. If you are going to want to act like your diverse think and wholeheartedly actually be diverse there’s a difference. You base the clothes off how they look on you and it’s not about you anymore you have a brand that caters too many different diversities take pride in that and expand your knowledge beyond just your own manikin.
