You'll find in climbing long term commitment can be rewarded. I read a story the other month about a Japanese guy who started in his 30's and by his mid 40's (I believe) sent 8C/8C+. But his story isn't completely unique, the tendon / finger strength gained over a decade + obviously a wealth of experience counts for a tremendous amount in this sport.
