Blondie completely captured the raw emotion, velvety finish and glorious escalation of the song to crescendo !... Debbie's voice, Jimmy Destri's Synthesizers and of course... Clem Burke's exquisite drumming. What a supergroup !

I remember when Blondie's "Heart of Glass" started getting airplay in '79, it was reported that people were calling radio stations asking for the new Donna Summer song. DJ's had to explain that it was not Donna but a new band called Blondie.

Most radio stations have DJs, especially then. If they were going to play it, they'd make reference to it before, and sometimes after. This keeps listners listening.

Blondie brought us out of the 70's into the 80's, transcending and popularising all the musical genre's of the era. They defined the 80's, and beyond. I can't think of a more influential band. They seem to have inspired everything since.
@robbnyc200714 жыл бұрын
The more I listen to this, the more brilliant I think it is. Yes, it's obviously Donna Summer's song... but Blondie covering it is the ultimate in 1979 new wave/disco irony. So few people "got" how arch and sassy the Blondie approach was. Picking I Feel Love as the encore cover song is hilarious and perfect, affectionate and condescending at the same time. AWESOME.

And that the band Blondie covered songs by such varied artists as Cole Porter, T Rex , the Marvellettes , John Holt , Randy & the Rainbows, the Shangri - Las , and Johnny Cash . But this rarely heard live version featuring Robert Fripp on guitar is stunning.. ( Fripp made seminal music with Brian Eno which was a different genre, also amazing). Thank Goodness Blondie was ballsy enough to make their version of Giorgio Moroder & Donna Summer's all time trend setting , groundbreaking music.. All Hail to those music Gods !! Always loved this version! While Blondie's voice is great, it's the hard edge of the electric guitars and synthesizer - the "Blondie sound" - that makes this version so outstanding. From the ethereal way her lead voice waves in and out of the song, to how the tempo picks up to a rousing finale, they did a great job. Pity there's no live video version of this song.
