This is why I’ve unsubscribed from numuves and the Barrett Channel. I originally subbed them because I was kinda glad to see expats making a life in China. As of late they’re making more and more content to appeal to the highly and irrationally nationalistic segments of their Chinese viewer base rather than focusing on life and adventures in China.

da ka is a verb which originated from the workplace, because about 2000s, Chinese companies introduced the work attendance checking system from the West, and the employees should stamp their checking cards with a machine when they were arriving at and leaving the workplace like enter a coach of train. So, nowadays, people use it for definition that people travel or visit somewhere and take photos to prove that they actually reach that place, and this act is similar to the attendance checking system. XD

This was so great. I just got home from uni tonight (I live in Melbourne near the CBD) and ate my latest Chinese food discovery. It's a tiny place within another food shop on Swanston St called Brother Lee. I stopped in to get a roujiamo and ended up getting some Liang Pi noodles as well. What a discovery, they are an unusual texture but the sauces we super delicious. I had it in my backpack and every time I opened it in class, a huge waft of garlic came out. It was so cheap too, only $6 for the basic and vegies etc were 50c extra each. I'm definitely going back for more!

I like street foods in Asia because most are cooked using fresh ingredients right in front of you. Not like factory food, made and half cooked in an industrial plant and delivered to some franchisee shop such as KFC or McDonald. In the past, street food in the west consists of just putting together factory food such as pre-prepared frozen burgers or sausages or ham and buns, or taking them out of tins and heating them up. Lately, the influence of Asian street food is being felt and you are seeing more fresh ingredients being used. Hope people know where that has come from.

Of course the same like those smelly cheese which Europeans eat it on a daily basis, just too disgusting for me as well. But I am not gonna judge people who eat these food, hope those people in the West also don't judge those people eat different food from yours because vegetarians didn't judge you guys who eat meat every day. Tolerate diversity, respect people.
