I’ve been a long time fan of true crime shows, particularly FBI files and similar. What I find shocking is the fact that the lives of innocent people have become so worthless to criminals. For instance in this case, the criminals got what they wanted and could have just let the bank president go. But instead they decided to kill him, and in such an inhuman way. It’s disgusting. The world is disturbed anyway and just getting worse as time goes by

Philosophical question: what about a justice system that would execute murderers exactly in the same way as they killed their victims ? Aren't there sometimes cases in which you exactly would like to do just that ? You knocked someone on the head and then set afire his or her home ? OK, let's take you to your home... You attached someone to a chair and dropped him 30 feet down into a cold river ? OK, let's find another cold river and... a chair.
@leoa4c24 күн бұрын
The issue is that if we do that, we are unequivocally saying that we do not believe in rehabilitation. Any and every justice system should try rehabilitation to a limited extent. A second issue is that, according to official numbers, 6 to 7% of U.S. convictions are wrongful convictions. Since official numbers say 6%, I would confidently double it, so lets just say that 10% of convictions are wrongful convictions. With that being the case, then, quite quickly, the justice system would be doing something very "cruel and unusual" to completely innocent people. Using your example, your system would be throwing innocent people into rivers, attached to chairs. That's clearly not what justice should be about, at least not in the first instance. Maybe one could argue that, in theory, it would be a fair system, but in a practical world with practical considerations, it would not.

I remember this case from a Forensic Files episode. It's always shocking again what some people can do to a fellow human being. I'm not a proponent of the death sentence, but, knowing that these people will never enter society again is somewhat relieving. In the country I live in, they WOULD enter society again, after a decade or two. Which is almost more shocking than the crime itself. They get a new identity, and they're able to begin a new life, A chance the victims never will get. Neither the victims, nor their relatives.
@kinagrill Жыл бұрын
I agree with deathsentence when there's absolutely no doubt of the guilt. No 'but there is a lack of direct - he was there' evidence, etc. cuz Death is permanent and later finding that an executed person was INNOCENT is.... horrid to think of. and iirc, there's about 4 innocents on deathrow in america for every... what, 100 people put there? which statistically speaking that every 100 executions means at least 1 was innocent according to aquittals from deathrow and such prior to final sentencing and such.
@williamfeilhauer2667 Жыл бұрын
The country you live in doesn't take the chance of executing of an innocent person. Since we now have DNA it's been proven the state murdered innocent victims . Then the jerk off prosecuter still screaming the guy is guilty.

Why the quotes around Law-abiding? That makes it look as though they were complicit in their legally owned guns being stolen. Criminals, unfortunately, are going to get guns in any way possible, all of them illegal 🚫 since convicted felons are barred from legally possessing and purchasing firearms. Law-abiding citizens take whatever steps they can to keep their weapons safe from the criminal element, but those steps sometimes fail.

This really was a quaint little town where everyone seemed to know everyone, just about. I esp. like the town sign, Noel, at the entrance of the town. That's what I liked best, about it. And what a beautiful name Noel is. This crime was so horrific. I had so much sorrow for that banker, how they buried that man alive, by drowning. A slow death, and the worst way to go. Some people just don't put a value on a life, they actually think money has more value, but a human being is priceless. I thought for sure they would get the death penalty, but I'm really not for the death penalty, so this will give them time, to think about what they've done, and repent, or something. I don't know what they were thinking, but they didn't have to kill him, because they had a mask on. Just take the money, and go. I know this, they wouldn't have hunted you down, too long, for stealing just money, but they would hunt you down, till the end of your life, for killing a human, that's just how priceless each human is. I pray many know this, and stop all of this senseless killing, and talk to God. That's what you need. God is ALL POWER, and He'll give you access to any amount of money, you want, without having to kill someone for it. That's not cool, at all. God owns it all money, real estate, whatever, whatever. Better learn how to talk to your Father.

Small contradictory detail in the beginning ; narrator says the woman arrived early for work but the clock in the background shows 5 .08 . . Still , these are great shows and thanks for posting them.

Suspects are disregarded despite being observed handling lots of coins! Alibis can be falsified & guns can be disposed of! Some cops/investigators are mighty thick!
@corwilliams30984 жыл бұрын
ikr esp when the ''alibi'' is family or girl/boy friend. Pretty easy to debunk; like the one that said he was out of town. The mother should be charged for lying to fbi, grand jury , obstruction and raising two dipwad s !
@АмериканецвРоссии-и4б2 жыл бұрын
At which point were the suspects disregarded? Seems like they were on to them pretty much from start to finish, the difficulty was just finding evidence.
@ElizabethGrindon Жыл бұрын
@@АмериканецвРоссии-и4б No, at first they cleared them - accepted their alibis. Later they came back to take a closer look at them.

Why in the hell would a bank employee give out the location of the bank president's home address? Was it not suspicious when that was asked?
@michaeljohnson74937 ай бұрын
I was wondering about that, too. The narrator seems to imply that that's how it happened, although I have a hard time believing it actually did. The killers could just have easily watched the man leave work one day while they were casing the bank and follow him home, but that's a detail that would usually get mentioned. Sometimes the narration script has omissions or flaws; Springfield ain't the capital of Missouri, either. If that guy really gave the killer the bank president's address as could be inferred here, then that's just a whole new level of naivety. It would really play into the whole idyllic "small town, we don't lock our doors" narrative. I was born in the '80s in rural America, and from what my parents told me, no one in that time or place was ever that trusting. Watching these old shows for the first time in years reminds me that things weren't as rosy back in the day as some people recall it being.

I think The wisest wisest thing to do I would have done. Is to never,ever answer my door at in early morning hours. I would have called the police instead to come check up. It is a shame they did not have the technology back then to see who is at your front door. I woulnd't open up my door at night for anyone.Glad those brothers got what they deserved.
